Where do I begin. He is usually unprepared for court, bumbling through papers. Often, he didn’t remember key details or case information when asked by the Judge. He doesn’t appear to care. He lied to the Judge & later stated he hates when Judges make decisions because it’s rarely in the client’s best interests. He inflates his bills by overcharging. Look at billing details carefully - he does them himself. He also makes side deals & you won’t realize it until the other party tells you.. Hire him at your own risk.

Attorney Graham Wiemer has represented me on more than one occasion regarding issues with placement and child support post divorce. While dealing with my unpredictable ex-husband and his distasteful attorney, Graham remained confident and professional. Graham makes his clients feel comfortable and is always looking at the big picture while putting the best interest of his clients and their kids first.

I hired Graham as my divorce attorney, and was very pleased with his work through the process. He is very responsive to questions and straightforward with his feedback and direction. He was able to put my mind at ease during a very stressful time in my life.

My Attorney is Graham and I couldn’t have asked for a better Family Law Attorney to act on my behalf. To say he is a good attorney is an understatement. He is extremely smart and takes the time to know and understand your situation and you as a person. I felt very confident in his approach to make sure there was a fair outcome for my case. Graham and his staff are very approachable and can help you with any question or explanation if you need further understanding. If you are looking for someone straight forward, honest and gets the job done the right way, Graham is the Attorney for you!

I hired Graham in the Summer of 2015, and my divorce was finalized on September 28, 2016. From the first time I met Graham, it was very apparent that he was a true professional of his trade. He clearly articulated how the divorce process works, and yet he clearly understood all the critical matters involved with all family law matters. Graham's primary goal throughout the entire process was to get to a final marital settlement agreement in place between the parties, without ever attempting to be overly aggressive toward the petitioning party. His mission was to always address the unresolved matters between the parties with both respect and professionalism. Although he did try his hardest to avoid an eventual trial date, which was unavoidable in my case, he once again handled the unresolved matter of "Gifted Money" with both knowledge and poise. His research on past Wisconsin family law cases involving gifted money was used in his closing statements, and was a major reason why the court's ruling was in my favor. I would highly recommend Graham Wiemer to anyone who finds themselves in any future divorce or family law matter.

I'm not sure where to begin. I think we all get to a point in our lives where we start to lose hope, hope in what's going on around us , hope in the situation we're in that isn't our fault and hope in ourselves in general. I had a couple thousand dollars of completely falsified/made up fees from my first apt. These made up fees got refereed to a debt collector which then ended up on my credit report which prevented anyone from wanting to rent to me. Again and again I was denied no landlord wanted anything to do with me which ended up affecting my life horrifically. What could I do? Nothing . That's when I was referred to Heidi. She got my case and IMMEDIATELY got to work. She knew what she was talking about that was instantly apparent and she knew the law, which made me feel like I was in good hands. She has been empathetic, non judgemental and understanding through this whole thing process. She has worked non stopped, kept me updated every step up of the way and has now actually got the fee removed from my credit report AND got me a settlement. As I type this my eyes fill up with tears because I don't think I can in words relay to Heidi how great she is and the difference shes made in my life and turning it back around when no matter how hard I tried I couldn't. Thanks for giving me hope again Heidi but most importantly thanks for giving me my life back.

May is without a doubt a top notch lawyer. I never for a moment felt out of my element with legal jargon. Never ended a conversation or visit with questions. And at all times was aware "I" had someone in my corner that treated myself and my wife with the courtesy and concern of someone who actually cared what we were going through. No stone was left unturned in the course of our legal journey together. And I without a doubt, would recommend Attorney Lee to anyone whom asked. The Sallaz Family

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
