Best of the Best Where do i even begin. I had to take time writing this to make sure i got everything i should appreciate this lawfirm with. Jackson and Ojeda LLC was very professional and knowledgeable when it came to my so complicated case that can easily be that one off case. Monique and her paralegal Heather specifically were a beacon of hope for me at a time where my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed like a dream. She was calm, collected, empathetic and she offered emotional succor to me that i will never forget. Though it may seem trivial, her sense of humor was all i needed to bring light of a difficult situation. The so many times i wanted to throw in the towel, she became a pillar of strength and assurance that no matter how long it will take or the outcome she would be there till the end and she was. She steered me in the right direction and helped me determine what was in the best interest for me and my children and she was right. She will have your back even when you are low and down. At one point she paid for my hotel room for the night when i was low and never asked to be paid back. She made a volatile situation calm and brought an outstanding outcome after what seemed impossible and after the final courtdate all parties involved were happy and satisfied with her work which is very rare but we all felt like winners. She is tough when needed and even then she does so with grace. The respect she gets from both opposing counsel and the judiciary is all you need to know that you found the right attorney. Monique Ojeda of Jackson and Ojeda LLC was the absolute best decision i made when choosing a legal team. If you are looking for a straight foreward, intelligent, honest and knowledgeable attorney that is skilled in balancing the legal and delicate aspects of a complicated family situation, look no further than Monique Ojeda with Jackson and Ojeda LLC.

Pros
1
Skilled and effective attorneys who know how to navigate complex legal matters, especially related to military and divorce cases
“Laura Jackson is a great attorney she helped me with my divorce being an Air Force guy and in an 15 year marriage she helped me get what I deserved. She knows a lot about the military and and helped me out a lot.”
2
Caring, understanding, and personable approach to clients during difficult times
“Laura Jackson is so understanding and helpful in an otherwise unpleasant circumstance. She has been amazing when it comes to the kids.”
3
Excellent mediation skills and ability to negotiate favorable compromises
“I can't say enough good about this wonderful law firm. Laura Jackson has been serving as our mediator & while I haven't always agreed, Laura has been amazing at negotiating a compromise I can live with.”
Cons
1
Lack of organization, preparation, and attention to detail leading to poor performance in court and unfavorable outcomes for clients
“They waited until the last minute to prepare for the trial which caused serious strategy problems. They were so disorganized that important papers were lost, crucial emails I sent with questions and information necessary for strategy planning were never read or replied to, and important documentation was never gathered and what was given to them wasn't used in the trial - critical things like police reports, letters, and emails.”
2
Failure to effectively advocate for clients, especially in emotionally charged situations, resulting in further trauma and loss
“During deposition, I was forced to sit across the table from my abuser for 8 hours, and they allowed him and his attorney to traumatize me into a panic attack so bad they almost had to call an ambulance. When I couldn't go on, they told me to testify even in a severely traumatized state or that it would cost me a lot of money if it had to be rescheduled.”
3
Lack of communication and responsiveness to client inquiries and concerns
“Never returned my calls. Called several times to request an appointment for a deed.”

I am forming a software company and incorporating in Wyoming. Another firm prepared all of the agreements but I wanted fresh legal eyes to review and interpret for me. Over a few emails and phone calls, Sean and his firm accomplished what I needed. Sean even caught an 11th hour detail that would have prevented incorporation until the new calendar year... which would have had 6 figure tax implications for myself.

Chris Humphrey & Associates, P.C From the first phone call my nerves and fears and letting me know they would be able to help me through the process, to my experience with Chris as my attorney, I would highly recommend this firm to anyone seeking legal assistance. Chris was extremely thorough from the beginning in guiding me through my case and recommending the steps to be proactive that would help me achieve my desired result. He was able to Dismiss POSSESS CONTR SUBST and PUB INDECENCY: Each and every time I reached out to Chris with questions or nerves he responded immediately with patience and words of reassurance that calmed me. In the end he was able to secure my desired result and I could not be more grateful! Chris is a 10 out of 10 attorney! If you need legal help, do not hesitate to hire Chris . Thank you again Chris Humphrey & Associates, P.C

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
