Choosing an attorney is difficult especially when you're a thousand miles away. I'm so glad I chose Evan Barrickman to represent me in my divorce. Evan fought for me to get a fair result. He and his staff were with me every step of the 2 year journey. He wasn't vindictive and didn't waste time or money on unnecessary motions. Attorneys like Evan Barrickman are extremely rare. Evan Barrickman reunited me with my son, in a situation i thought was completely hopeless. He never gave me false hope and he was always honest and upfront. Evan and his team really stayed on top of things for me. His paralegal was very informative and responsive. Compared to other law offices I called. They quickly got back to me and answered my questions throughly. Evan was by far the most honest and upfront. He helped so much to help me find a place to start ( I am in Hawaii) and he directed me to what my next steps should be in this agonizing process. He even emailed me all the documents filled in! And basically outlined our entire meeting via email! And he didn't charge me for the entire fee due to us not using all of the time alloted for the meeting. If I have any other custody needs I will for sure contact this office and refer all my friends ( God willing they don't need this service).

I was referred to Evan by a friend in 2017 for my divorce I had been fighting for almost 3 years and was getting nowhere and worse yet, I had had very minimal contact with my two daughters in period of time. I was able to retain Mr Barrickman as my attorney for a divorce in the middle of 2019. This case should have been concluded during mediation, but the Defendant was unreasonable to the offer. Spoiler alert, they should have taken it. Throughout the dynamic life that is working for the military, COVID, multiple court trials being delayed by the opposite side and child custody Evan had my back. I never felt he was I'll prepared for a trial, or that he was giving me what I wanted to hear. Evan was playing 4D chess while the other lawyer was playing checkers. He went above and beyond in researching rules that apply to military retirements child support and custody. Multiple times he brought up rules that many in the court had not heard of and backed it up, ultimately being allowed in court and substantially helping my case. At the conclusion of trials we won everything we were asking for except one small fee from the opposing party. Most importantly though was his persistent and bull dog approach to ensuring that my ex would not withhold the children from me when I was available to visit and when I was due a visitation, ultimately allowing me to have more than double the amount of time I was expecting based on previous cases. I will now be able to foster a healthy life with my children and am set up for if we ever live geographically again. If you want someone who can fight for you completely, will help secure what is rightfully yours and fight like his own kids are on the line. Pick Evan. For those on the fence due to being military and needing someone with military experience... Stop looking. Evan will either know it, or research it and start quoting regs at you.
