We were highly impressed and very pleased with our experience with Andrew Mathers. We had a previous trust that no longer met our purpose. Andrew did a full review of the prior trust and then met with us to advise his suggested changes. We found him to be articulate and professional. He took the time to ensure that we fully understood the changes he was suggesting. He asked detailed questions to ensure he had all the relevant information in order to draft a revised trust for us. Once the revised trust was prepared, Andrew again took the time to go over it in detail. Overall, we would highly recommend Andrew Mathers.

My older sister needed to create an estate plan. She has a legal benefit through her employer with MetLife. It is like an HMO for legal services with a network of lawyers that MetLife contracts with. I have already gone through the estate planning process and wanted to help my sister do hers. I researched attorneys based on MetLife's network and found Andy based on his glowing reviews. However, my sister and I did not find Andy to be 5 star. MetLife only covers the cost of creating the trust/POA documents and does not cover recording fees. I knew the deed for the house would need to be recorded with the county but other than that, nothing else needed to be recorded. When we met with Andy he wanted to charge $750 for the recording fees. My sister declined. I knew I could get the house deed recorded myself through Maricopa County Recorder's office. He was not happy about that decision and reminded us frequently. During our first meeting, he had my sister sign paperwork that he could discuss the trust with me. After he sent drafts of the documents to my sister, she forwarded them to me for my review. I did not see the trust document. So, I emailed Andy to ask about it. He called me immediately and proceeded to berate me for at least 10 minutes on the phone. I simply told him I did not see the trust. He said "it's right here on my computer screen. I am staring at it right now". I named all of the documents that I saw and he repeated that he was staring at it. Then he yelled over and over, how he should not be talking to me. I am not his client. He could lose his license. After hearing this repeatedly, I said, "fine I will ask my sister for it if she forgot to send it to me". He claimed any changes would take 10 hours of his time at $300/hour. I didn't want any changes. I just wanted to review the trust. I literally pleaded, "Please just fire us. Get rid of us. Let's be done with this". I was shaking. He would not get off the phone. I said "goodbye" and hung up. Less then 5 minutes later, my phone rings and it is Andy. I did not pick up. I did not want to hear about how he should not be talking to me. Once I calmed down and listened to my voicemail. It simply said, "I just emailed you and your sister the current trust. Call me if you have any questions". OMG! I found out he had never emailed her the trust until then. She later emailed him a few questions which he did not answer because they were funding related. That was fine. She asked if he could explain the trust document with her during the signing appointment. He said there was not time to do that. We should have fired him based on his arrogant and condescending behavior towards both me and my sister. He should never work with any MetLife clients again. One of the witnesses that we brought in for the signing of the documents has the same MetLife benefit. Had Andy been professional with us, he could have had a new client. I would not recommend Andy for anyone's estate planning needs.

I enjoyed meeting and working with Andrew Mathers on my Trust. He is knowledgeable and provided options available to me in my particular situation. After our initial meeting, I had several points that needed clarification. He was always available to speak with me at anytime. The finished product was both professional and timely. I find him to be respectful and responsible. I highly recommend him.
