Did a brief phone call and they answered all my questions

While Shaun is knowledgeable in his specialty, he went months without returning a phone call or email and NEVER provided me with requested billing information. I am now forced to seek fee arbitration to refund the remainder of my retainer. A skilled attorney is of no value when he does not do what he says he will.

The only star is for her 2017 paralegal who was always professional & sweet with me. But I would rate Riisa a 0 if I could. I went to Petersen so she could represent me against my now ex-husband. she presented herself as an I'll do whatever it takes for you kind of person. my ex-husband's lawyer was an old colleague of hers (Pogo) which at first I looked at is an advantage since she knew how she worked. The whole time after I made her my lawyer she was trying to get me to settle and was agreeing to many things my ex-husband's lawyer was wanting to do. She would brush off the pettiness and unnecessary remarks his lawyer would email & made me feel like she was trying to persuade me to agree to my ex-husband's wishes instead of my own/children best interest. Even after having knowledge of abuse towards my kids & I. & I quote "his anger is towards you Elka not the kids." She got frustrated with me because I didn't want to drop my order of protection so he could have more visitation rights with the kids and did get loud when we were talking on the phone so I no longer wanted to work with her. Years later, my ex-husband now has an open case for domestic violence with someone else, my kids have been through more physical, mental & emotional abuse/trauma because of him & currently cry every time they have to go to his apartment. (they are 8/10) one example of how he is: he feeds the kids cereal w/water, talk about best interest for the kids right Riisa... She may have not been the lawyer that represented me at the end, but she did help establish a case that was not leaning towards the best interest of the children but what was the easiest way for her to represent me. After getting help from my parents with paying her couple grands to have her represent me, I was left to having no financial support so I couldn't afford someone to represent me how I wanted to be represented. I wish I never went to her. Not because of everything I went through, but because if she would have fought for my kids and I like I thought she would, maybe I wouldn't hear my kids say "I hate that crazy man" or "no i'm scared papa will get mad" & see the damage this divorce did to my children. Once again, I wish I never hired her. Look for other lawyers, they will probably be cheaper & actually have YOUR best interest when representing you.

I hired an attorney here who said he could get my divorce done by the end of the year and then for months i never heard back from him. So i fired him.

Riisa Peterson is a top notch Attorney! Not only did she go above and beyond during this pandemic, but she is always just a phone call away. Her team is very professional and made me feel that they were concerned and working toward my best interest. Her assistant Lisa was amazing and I felt like I made a friend for life! Food and service was on point

I was feeling down, scared, and as if the court systems were designed to be against me. I spoke to plenty lawyers before hiring Riisa, and she was the one I am so glad I chose to represent me. Riisa and her staff, are very professional, and communicate like no other, every step along the way I knew what to expect. My case lasted 2 years due to covid and they were there with me along the entire way. The way Riisa spoke, and presented herself during court sessions, I knew she would either beat the case or get it dismissed, and sure enough she got my case dismissed.
