I’m posting this message on behalf of my Dad, Arturo Gabrintina. My Dad was given ZERO chance of winning his appeal, ZERO. We know it’s not a guarantee, but like others before, lack of communication and last minute preparation didn’t help. Of course he lost, he’s called to find out what options he has and no return call or email yet from Charlie or anyone from the law firm. They don’t prepare you for the hearing or anything. He could have did this on his own and saved $1500. That’s a lot of money. Don’t ask someone to gather documents a few days before the hearing. I recommended Pershing to my Dad, I regret that now. Extremely disappointed. I’ve read the reviews and saddened we didn’t get the same kind of care and attention. To all those reading, be very careful.

Pershing Law Firm is the best law firm in California for EDD matters. Charlie really helped me a lot. He worked double time for my case and got the job done. Without Pershing Law Firm, I do not know how to do this. I really recommend this law firm to everybody. I won my EDD case because of Pershing Law Firm. I give them 5 Stars!

I was having difficulties collecting my benefits during covid, I was trying to collect it for almost 2 years but then I saw I get nowhere with them and I hired Pershing Law Firm, I had Alexis Sotelo assign to my case I she did all she could with the EDD, who gave us the hardest time, it took a while but I ended up receiving my benefits, just when I was starting to give up. So yes, it took a while and the ED made it so difficult for us but it all worked out for the best. Thank you so much for all you help. Ruthi Hirschberg

I tried to help a friend by retaining Pershing Square for an overpayment notice. Frankly there was not enough time spent preparing them for this type of case. I feel strongly they accepted the case knowing that their payment was guaranteed, whether or not it had any merits of success. This person comes from a low-income family which risked a lot of money (and needed a payment plan just to afford it) on what was sold to them as the right choice to get proper representation. Now they are potentially out of thousands more with no more help from them. This case was passed around by three different lawyers, and there were just 2 prep meetings, which were quick (only two 10 minute calls) and ended up being unhelpful. They also explained upfront there would be another chance to appeal and apply for a waiver, but didn't mention verbally that their representation would end before those next steps.

My case got assigned to Letty, during our prep she coaches in accordance to my case and situation and stick with the truth ; she knows the magic words or words needed to describe my situation and words needed to justify my case. Before the court hearing I gave her a call and introduced myself to her. If you happen to have a case with Pershing Law do not hesitate to call and ask them questions until you feel satisfied and assured. For sure they are handling so many clients and cases; dont wait for their call.. always be on top of your case. Email them or call them and they will always have an answer for you. Upload all your documents which you think will help your case. Helping yourself would mean helping them too; relying on them and relying on yourself would be a big help too.

Before all else, let me share briefly how I sought Pershing Square Law Firm out on a huge tapestry of the southern California legal community consisting of thousands of law firms. I received the Notice of Hearing from the Appeal Court that notified me of a hearing on my Appeal against EDD's denial of my PUA benefit at the end of April. The hearing was calendared in barely two weeks from its issuing date. In spite of my meager knowledge about the court proceedings I somehow realized that this was the juncture where I had to throw in not only lots of hours working on an Appeal brief (which I had already done and submitted) but also the real money for a legal expert to argue for me before the judge at the hearing. It took me about two dozens of phone calls plus a few emails and more than one week before I was able to find the right attorney. Of the law firms I contacted, roughly 80% declined on the grounds that either they did not handle Administrative Court cases or my case was too small for them. Of the remaining 20%, two lawyers advised me sympathetically to get ready for a loss and what I should do if that happened. Another couple of them I did not feel comfortable with and the remaining ones never returned my messages. Except for Pershing Square, who responded my inquiries positively, emerging on my horizon right when I was on the verge of giving up on a legal counsel. Looking back now, I should say my encounter with Pershing Square and its leading Attorney Mr. Assaf Lichtash is a straight shot of luck. In less than an hour at our first meeting, Atty. Lichtash diagnosed a crucial issue in my case that had until then been never noticed let alone addressed by myself because I did not have that sense that this was an answer the court was looking for. For removing the issue, the Attorney drafted up an affidavit in about ten minutes and instructed me to go back and have it signed by my employer so that some particulars in my employment would be clarified. I obtained the signed copy the soonest possible which was added to my existing set of attachments. Later this letter of affidavit turned out to be a decisive factor in the judge’s ruling of my case. By this time I had merely two days left before the hearing. The next episode that stunned me also occurred at the end of the hearing. No sooner had Atty Lichtash hung up his phone at this Telephonic Hearing than he announced that it was a winner and he was confident about it. I, however, was too dumbfounded at the time to utter even a “thank you.” Deep down I couldn’t help but wonder, how in the world can the Attorney come at this conclusion, when I haven’t heard any words, expressions, or even any change of the judge’s monotonic tone that has indicated her intension for the ruling, for better or for worse? Time proved the accuracy of the Attorney’s foretelling. The second large envelope I received from the Appeal Court notified me of its decision. The court ruled in my favor; the Notice of Determination was reversed. The affidavit submitted the last minute was the first to be cited by the judge in her decision. Talk about the feats and stunts of an accomplished professional. When the coast was surely clear, I emailed Atty Lichtash a Thank-You Note that expressed the following: “Now in retrospection it proves all worth it. Your authoritative guidance, surgical precision, and your long-acquired professional patience and efficiency are all the key elements or weapons if you may in winning this combat for me.” “The event,” I concluded at the end, “is for sure to become a surviving memory for the years to come.” When you have a physical problem, you go to a doctor. And you go to a good one because percentagewise, the good one will save your life. Likewise, when you have a legal problem, you go to a lawyer. Again you go to a good one because the good lawyer is able to disperse the gloom hanging above you and restore that sea blue over your head, making your life worth even more to live for.
