The thing that made me feel guilty was the time that my son had to undergo a traumatic incident. It was almost 3 years ago since we had a car accident while my son was in a car seat. Today, let me share with you how this incident has affected my son's life. It all started when I was in the carpool lane and the traffic was heavy. I noticed that the other person driving his vehicle had been getting a little too close to my car a few times before he rear-ended our vehicle. It was a low speed and we were rear-ended from behind. Due to the impact, my son's car seat was bolted. I got scared and panicked. I couldn't believe what just happened. My son was crying a lot and I felt very sorry for him. A few moments later, the police and paramedics arrived at the scene. A police report was filed and we were both immediately taken to the St. John's Regional Medical Center. Due to this incident, my son was traumatized after the vehicle accident that occurred last August 27, 2021. My son and I were examined at the hospital, and he was playful when he was examined. The Doctor told me that he is stable with no signs of injury, and I was given a prescribed medication which is Tylenol for any pain, but if any pain pops up, I need to bring my son back to the same hospital. I was also advised to go and follow up with a pediatrician. My son did not have any further evaluation aside from the pediatric examination. He was discharged in a stable condition. I'm glad that my son and I were both safe. However, he suffered from nightmares and PSTD. Although my son was just a minor, he was very innocent and he really didn't know what was happening. I did everything to make my son feel better. I surround him with positive and loving people. I am writing this on behalf of my 3-year-old son.
