Finding myself in a highly emotional family trust issue, Josh helped me in a very calm and compassionate manner. My life was turned upside down and I put full trust in his advice and legal knowledge. He didn’t disappoint. He made a very difficult time a little less traumatic for me. 7 years later, he still makes himself available for any questions or problems that arise. I have created my own trust using his expertise. I have peace of mind knowing that my children are protected in case of the unthinkable, and I can’t thank him enough. After my wife and I had our first child, we worried a lot about what would happen to our son if something tragic happened to both of us. We attended a terrific family estate planning workshop by the Meier Law Firm to learn more about how to protect our assets and assign a guardian to our son. Laura and Bonnie were extremely insightful about the laws that govern children of deceased parents and how they would be treated by the legal system. Needless to say, it wasn't easy to hear how our son would be taken care of and how our assets would be distributed without a concrete estate plan. Laura has a terrific book titled, "Good Parents Worry, Great Parents Plan." which also lays out the scary landscape of wills and trusts. With Laura and Bonnie's guidance, we established a trust that we can confidently say will protect our child. They handled our questions with care and compassion. Although the subject matter was uneasy to think about, Laura and Bonnie made sure we were informed to handle the tough questions within our parenting toolbox. Plus, it made us seriously consider who would be the best guardians for our child. It was an excellent exercise on not only who would best care for our child but also who would raise them with our values and principles (yup, it made for some interesting discussions about family members). We were referred to them by a close friend and couldn't be more happy with our decision to have Laura help us establish our family trust. To start, they are very thorough. My wife and I have a 3 year old son so this was long over due for us to get a trust in place but weren't educated on the different options for our situation. The Meier Law firm has been so helpful in guiding my wife and I to setup our family trust. Bonnie and Laura were so great and made the process easy from start to finish.
