I hired Matthew O'Connor after calling and consulting with 10 other attorneys. It was quite an ordeal to sort through the incredible amount of defense lawyers in the area. My son would need a lawyer who was an expert to be able to work through a very difficult situation. Before my son was sent to prison he had violated his probation. Now it was certain the courts would revoke it and send him back to prison for a very long time. We had very little time to take care of the situation and I had limited funds. Then I found Mr. O'Connor. After our first conversation I knew that he was going to be able to help my son. Matthew--who is a former DA, knew the system backwards and forwards. He has worked on both sides of the fence and is able to use that knowledge to help people who are now in trouble with the law. He called and e-mailed almost daily to keep me informed of everything that was happening. The entire process took two weeks, and then it was finished! I cannot express in words the gratitude that I have for this lawyer, who with his complete expertise in the field of criminal defense, professionalism, and diligence, was able to recall all of my son's warrants and get him released him from his prior probationary responsibilities. What a great experience with a lawyer who was an expert in the field, very professional and prompt, continuously communicated with me, and most of all was so very kind and considerate. Morguess is one of, if not the best Appellate attorney in the State of California, and arguably any state in which he chooses to practice. My case is incredibly complex to fully understand, which lead to it's creation to begin with. Morguess is the 7th attorney I've dealt with in the past 12 months (for this case and other unrelated matters). I can say from my experience with attorneys across several categories of law (including consults, easily 30 attorneys in the past 12 months), Michael Morguess is in the top 1% in his field. Michael Morguess is the attorney everyone wishes they could find, or wishes they would have had after experiencing the other 99% of attorneys in the marketplace. Morguess understood my case quickly (which was impressive in it's own right), and authored legal briefs that took a very confusing case and articulated it in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner. The legal references, arguments and citations were impeccable and delivered with precision and confidence. Morguess has the ability to stay objective and keep a mechanical legal perspective, which is truly a nearly impossible quality to find and likely why he is so exceptional at what he does. I have already made his name commonplace amongst my Association members because if injustice strikes, you need Michael Morguess to make sure you get special forces quality legal representation. As an attorney overall, I can personally say that although it may be possible to find an attorney nearly as good as Morguess, you will never find one better period. My case is still pending and I cannot predict the outcome, but I can tell you that if the work Morguess has put into it doesn't conclude favorably, I will be at peace knowing that no other attorney could have done a better job. To me, that's all the review that really matters. If your case ends unfavorably, you never want to be left wondering "what if I had a different attorney?".
