In my felony case their were a few bumps in the road I started out with a public defender with 30 years experience but would never return my calls and was cold as Alaska. Then I got a male attorney who made promises without even looking at my case. I prayed for a decent attorney to represent me. My prayers were answered when I found Shelby Alberts. She took her time, she gave me both the pros and the cons to taking my case to a preliminary hearing. She never told me what I should do but rather give me the knowledge to make my own decision and no matter what my decision was she was going to do her best. The DA wanted to give me a year and we both refused that then we came back a month later they offered 6 months we didn't take that. In the end Ms. Alberts got the Judge to lower it to 90 days with half time credits so total days I received are 45 with alternative programs. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an attorney whose not only knowledgeable but who has compassion and who softens the courtroom with such a male dominant field. Going through this process was very stressful but when you have an attorney who has your best interest at heart it's not only rare but a blessing. I am forever grateful to Ms. Alberts!!! Shelby kept me out of jail, plain and simple. I was facing some 2 very serious charges, assault and battery with a deadly weapon. I learned from my mistakes and will prove that to her and the court. She was able to strike a deal and kept me from seeing any time in jail. I was sentenced to 3 years probation and 45 days alternative sentencing. Because of her I am able to resume my schooling and live a peaceful life.

Byron handled a situation involving way overzealous police and a very aggressive DA's office, an office which seems to have completely lost sight of the fact that they work for the people, not the police. With a conservative DA's office refusing to recognize the absurdity of the situation and admit a mistake was made, choosing to side with the officers who clearly made a mistake, Byron patiently stuck with us for well over a year working through the process and clear up this mess. Even in the face of a judge, warning us during our day in court, "these kinds of motions are rarely, as in almost never granted", Byron got it done and we got our motion granted and record expunged. I certainly have a more skeptical view of the police and DA's office after this, and one thing we learned for sure, don't roll over and let the system push you around. Get a good attorney like Byron and fight for your rights and freedom.

I was charged with DUI after having a previous wet reckless on my record. I figured my chance to getting this case dropped was very slim as I had a prior on record. Shelby noticed a discrepancy between the officer's report and the video evidence from the camera in the patrol car. I had originally been told I had a tail light out which I knew was not true by checking it the day after the incident. Shelby ended up using this to get me a greatly reduced charge with a wet reckless. I am now very thankful that i had her as my lawyer on this case. She went way over the top of my previous lawyer's performance and I thank her truly caring about my case and going the extra mile.

Leslie is AMAZING!! I was embarrassed of my DUI and she reassured me she would take my criminal defense serious. She was dedicated, worked hard, and communicated with me the entire step of the way. She walked me through the paperwork which shows that she cared and wasn't there to just take my "money and run". As many others have stated, when one is in legal trouble - one needs a friendly attorney, someone with a sympathetic ear and yet a firm grasp of the laws as well the courtroom. Mr. Roope fits this description admirably well. In my case I was facing a large fine for a relatively small traffic offense as my job prevented me from keeping my court date. He is extremely prompt in his return communications and in my case, he underpromised but over-delivered. I got the feeling that he genuinely cared about the outcome. I contacted Mr. Roope late on a Thursday night. I suspected I would have to leave message, and was surprised when he answered the phone. We talked about my situation and how the DUI I received would probably cause me I lose my job. He explained everything in a way that made it very easy to understand and let me know how he could help. His flat fee for his service was very fair. As the process went on he was able to get the case reduced, save my license, and save my job. Byron is a fantastic lawyer and I would recommend him to anyone in the area. I had a failure to appear for driving on suspended license that was a few years old and I needed to have it taken care of to get my license reinstated. Byron was able to have it dropped to an infraction first, and then had it completely dismissed! He also kept great communication the whole time letting me know where the case was at.
