A brief background first. I’m a Baby Boomer with a successful family and business. My very first investment was a 40 acre piece of mountain property purchased in 1970. After the purchase (big mistake) I had the property surveyed. It turns out 8 acres infringed on our neighbors property. I tried to get the issue resolved amicably, but to no avail. Went to litigation (my first). Between court rulings and appeals we won. However, it took 6 years. It got to the point I didn’t care if I won or lost just to get it over with. Because of this experience I had never gone into any other ligation. Fast forward 50 years. In 1979, my wife and I purchased a family cabin at a lake. Three years ago, with 100 mph winds a 3000 pound giant oak limb snapped, fell 25 feet and crashed through our roof causing severe damage. The insurance company sent an adjuster and offered a minimal settlement amount. Nothing even close to the bids to repair. After several months it appeared we were at a standstill. Because of my prior experience I was hesitant to go into litigation. I was referred to GENE HALAVANAU for legal advice. During the interview Mr Halavanau explained the various options. He listened to my concern about my past litigation experience. He had a very calming and reassuring presence about him. After looking at the options, the decision was made to pursue litigation. Mr. Halavanau was able to secure a very, very adequate settlement. It was well worth the wait.
