Excellent group of family law attorneys that help their clients navigate through complex CA laws regarding divorce, child support, spousal support and also prenuptial agreements. This firm takes the time to educate and inform their clients so that they make the best decisions under extremely difficult circumstances. My very first meeting with JIM HOOVER was very pleasant, he made promises that made me feel like he knows what he is doing and the law firm is going to defend my rights. I WAS WRONG! Those were all client acquisition tricks that were used on me. Even though this is my only experience dealing with a family lawyer, I have very bad memories of how they interacted and treated me in the entire journey. They could not come up with any effective strategy on how to deal with false DV against me. The only part that they did kind of OK was the emergency screening aspect of the work. Other than that they kept wasting my time and money on non-value added activities, meetings and emails. I never felt that JIM HOOVER was on my side as he knew the opposing counsel and had made comments that put me in an inferior position such as telling them "I know my client is lying", really!?! How did you arrive at that? And let’s assume that I am lying, why do you go to the other party and tell them about it?
They have junior lawyers that do not know how to handle your case and you have to pay the price for their lack of knowledge and experience. If you have questions about any legal activities or billing issues he does not hesitate to DISRESPECT and ATTACK you both verbally and via email. He becomes rude in a split of a second. They know you are stuck and you need immediate help, and they take advantage of you.
Never take Jims’ promises and commitments seriously, he backs out of it very silently and if you question him, he attacks you. All he is thinking about is money, money, and money. Your interests are never his priority.
After 3 months of dealing with him and the law firm in the most difficult fashion, I decided I have to take control of the situation and stop them from making the entire process long and tedious; and sucking money as much as they can out of me. Eventually, I used mutual friends to resolve the issues between me and my wife, and we were able to drop the dual restraining orders fast and effectively. If I had to rely on the law firm to help me out with my DVRO and Dissolution situation I would have easily spent $150K - $200K over a very long period of time with unpleasant outcomes. I made the right decision for myself and it worked out. I was lucky that my wife changed her approach and worked things out with me.
The problem with people like Jim is that as soon as you are not that valuable client that brings money to their company they change their approach and tone in a negative way and you see their evil side, and you regret every dollar you have spend with them. At least this was my case which is very sad. Their ideal client is someone that pays them for every non-value-added activity that they list on theirs bills and does not question them so they can keep a run rate of at least $10-$15K on monthly average off of each client. The concept of “customer comes first” and having a customer-centric business has no place in their business.
And last but not least, they will charge you 5X times of what you are expecting to get charged so be prepared if you are signing up with them. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EARNING MONEY AND STEALING MONEY, AND APPARENTLY THIS LAW FIRM CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO. I hope you who is reading this review never find yourself in a position to deal with lawyers, but if you do so, take the time to find a very good one for yourself. It is definitely a big challenge but it really worth the research. Good luck and stay out of trouble!

One of the best Family Law Practices! If you need professional advice, go with a firm you can trust. From the first time I picked up the phone, I was thankful to hear a caring voice on the end. They will provide you with the best options, especially when times are difficult, finding a trusting attorney to represent you should be the least of your concerns.

If you want to decimate your family and scar your children for life, selling your house to do so, this is the firm for you. Travis Hoover was named trustee of the proceeds from the sale of my house and promptly paid himself attorneys fees without any indication of how he had come of with those fees. We are still in litigation. The man has lost his soul.ever met a soulless person? Of course you have and you will recognize this immediately

What type of person do we want our attorney's to be? For me, integrity, communication ability, and legal knowledge, among other factors are key. Jim Hoover checks all those boxes, and more.
I first met him about 3 years ago when I had a free consultation about amending spousal support. He provided some solid advice and a future game plan. Fast forward to present and I met with him again to discuss options and put together a plan moving forward. After hearing the details, Jim expressly said that I did not need to retain him and he provided some great advice on how to negotiate with my ex, and after doing so he typed up the agreement and I'm on my way. Very straight-forward.
Jim has a great presence and communication style which immediately put me at ease. He's just a normal guy who happens to have a great legal mind and his integrity is awesome. He could have easily sold me on retaining his firm and battling it out with my ex in court which would have netted him eight to twelve thousand dollars over a year or more with no guarantee of success. He talked about the cost/benefit analysis and saw the big picture.
Having said that, I had no doubts that if he needed to, Jim would do a great job fighting for his client in court, if needed. Jim is well connected in the legal community and serves as a fill-in judge in family court so those are pluses as well.
Attorneys obviously cost a lot of money, but I found Jim to be more than fair with his time, and I'm confident that if I had to retain him there would be no issues in this area.
Everyone at Jim's office is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend Jim and his firm!
