I had been attempting for 7-8 months to pursue settling an automobile accident/personal injury with a large insurance company to no avail. I called Alpine Legal Services to see if I could get some advice. They gave me the names of three local attorneys; I called and set up times to interview them. The third one was Michael Fox. I spoke first with his paralegal, Janelle, who set up an appointment within the next two days; she spent time chatting with me, and I felt valued and taken care of. In the other two cases, I was put off for several days. I met with Michael in person who was warm, friendly and listened attentively and compassionately; I was comfortable enough to be forthright and let down my emotions. He laid out clearly what I should expect, what I could expect realistically, and how we would correspond, what the next steps were, etc. (It was in the middle of the lockdown.) Michael was able to provide some details about the other driver, his record, his coverage, etc., information I had not been able to get myself. Over the next 20 months, we went through all the steps necessary to gather documents, go through the discovery process, etc. Every so often, he would take time to bring me up to date and what to expect next, always checking in with me on my preferences. I especially appreciated that he respected my values regarding litigation, punishment, etc. In the new year, just 3 days before my scheduled deposition, we had several conversations to discuss his strategy for negotiating a settlement to avoid going to court. Each time he checked to see if I were in agreement. On the 4th call he gave the great news. Without giving details, we both agreed that it was a very fortuitous settlement. I have to agree with Janelle that I "got lucky when I got the referral to Michael Fox."
