I met Jim at a Chamber of Commerce networking event. I mentioned that I had never filed any paperwork to become an LLC or a corporation. We met a few days later at his office to talk about business entity selection. After asking me about my business in-depth, he explained to me why he believed I should register my business as an LLC and then file paperwork with the IRS to elect for status as an S-Corp. I couldn't believe my accountant never told me about this! Jim set everything up for me and my accountant told me I'll be saving a significant amount of money on my taxes next year due to my change in status! I'll definitely be giving Jim a call anytime I need legal advise and have been recommending him any time a business or real estate issue comes up with my business friends and acquaintances. With the rental market being as red hot as it currently is, I decided to purchase several rental properties in the Westminster area. Jim came highly recommended from my accountant as a very competent, eloquent lawyer with an eye for creative problem solving. I used a real estate agent to purchase the properties, but needed a lawyer to draw up my standard rental agreement and advise me about potential liabilities and more complex tax issues that my accountant didn't have the expertise to handle on his own. We met for an initial interview but after that all of our communication was via email and over the phone. Every time I've needed help he has been quick to get back to me with well-researched answers that I feel confident relying on. He may not have grey hair, but he is one of the hardest working, sharpest attorneys I've known. Most importantly, he's a man of integrity who always confronts tough issues head on, even when the truth might not be what you want to hear. He's not just out to make a buck--it's clear he takes his responsibility to act in the best interests of his clients very seriously.
