I hired Michael Smeenk to represent me in a For Sale By Owner real estate transaction on a property in Lafayette, in which which I was the buyer. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and was easy to work with. Both he and his paralegal Julia, were on top of everything. Nothing slipped through the cracks during what turned out to be a long and slightly complex transaction. Mike's previous experience in the mortgage industry also was a huge help as he was able advise me on things that needed to be discussed with or requested from my lender. Mike and Julia were always available or quick to return emails/voicemails when I had questions and created contracts that covered every angle of the real estate transaction. Deciding to get a Divorce was a tough thing. I had now idea what I needed to do. A friend recommended FJG&G to me. He know I want a Fair, straight forward and Honest attorney. Which was what I got from the time I walked in. My team off, Brittaney, Gregg and Christine were open about the process and advised it was not going to be pleasant, but everything would be done right and complete. They were professional all the way through. They would not play down to the level of the other side and present several fair settlements which were turned down. Unfortunately it had to go to court. Brittaney prepared me and put a strong case together and in the end I could not be more pleased. The professionalism was far beyond my original expectations. I would recommend them for any law services they cover, if you want a firm that will make sure everything is cover, thoroughly.

Going through our divorce process is one of the hardest and most emotional experiences I have ever had. After my x-spouse engaged a law firm I felt the need to do the same. I ended up with the most remarkable Dream Team of Brittaney D. McGinnis, Christine J. Hickey, and Gregg A. Greenstein. After getting to know them better I decided to have Brittaney run my case. Quite a gamble, as she was up agains my x-spouse's very expensive lawyer with 20 years of experience, but my intuition proved absolutely right. As in the Pepsi/Coke war, the slogan "We Try harder" has never been more true. Brittaney was like a lioness during this whole process, really looking after me. Not only was she a remarkably professional, effective, and unbelievably responsive lawyer - she brought integrity, compassion, and understanding to the process and I always felt understood and listened to - and I was not an easy client. I know Brittaney & team were extremely busy with other cases, but it be evenings, nights, or mornings, Brittaney always found time to respond and guide me in a way my X-spouse never got to experience. I truly felt like I was their only client for the 8 months the process lasted! My X-spouse and I finally came to an agreement before going to court. I always felt Brittaney & team tried to support me in making this happen, while I had the clear sense my X-spouse's lawyer did anything she could to drag it out and ultimately bring it to court, while the invoices kept coming. Throughout the process my X-spouse started to feel the same about her representation, and I don't think there could be a more powerful compliment to my Dream Team, when she stated: "If I was ever to go through a divorce again, I would hire your Dream Team". Thank God I would not be on the receiving end if that was ever to happen again:-). As my X-spouse and I went through the final stages of our settlement, she asked me if we could just use my Dream Team, and eliminate her lawyer. I will always remain extremely grateful for the way these people stuck with me all the way through the divorce process.

Several years after I had a home go into foreclosure, I started getting statements from a mortgage company that had carried my equity line of credit. I thought that it had been so long that it was past the statute of limitations. However, I started getting very anxious that I would be liable for repayment of this mortgage. I began researching statutes of limitations on line and found an article written by Mr. Mike Smeenk. I decided to call him for a consultation. I spoke at first to Julia Occhuizzo who patiently listened to me as I tried to explain my problem and concerns. When she thought she understood she told me that she would set up a phone consultation with Mr. Smeenk. She sent me an email outlining the documentation they would need from me and confirming a phone consultation time. At the time of the consultation Mike ( that’s how he introduced himself ) was very professional, clearly had read all the material I had sent him and much to my relief confirmed that It was past the statute of limitations. He explained ,as he wrote in his article, that I had the letter of acceleration, which I had received seven and a half years ago from the bank, which is the key peice of documentation that starts the clock on the six year statute of limitation. He outlined my options in contacting the bank and I felt very comfortable in letting him handle the situation. I would highly recommend both Mike and Julia. My husband and I were dealing with an Oil and Gas Land man that was extremely pushy. We needed to make sure we were protecting ourselves and property before signing a land lease and Zac was so knowledgeable and helpful with our situation. He handled everyone of our needs. Terrific experience with Zac in a very stressful situation.

We worked with Michael Smeenk for our estate planning. He was wonderful in walking us through the process and answering any and all of our questions. He worked with us on our tight timeline and had everything done I time. As for cost, they seemed to be pretty comparable to other firms. I highly recommend him and know that our family has used another attorney in the firm, whom was also good. I would use them again in a heartbeat!
