I've been self employed for 30 years. I made great money but, like everyone else who's "keeping up with the Jones,'" I managed to spend a lot of money. It was never an issue until, like most everyone else who works a manual labor/construction job, my body took a beating. In the past 8 years I've had 4 major back surgeries, 1 knee and 3 torn tendons in my ankles. As my income was cut dramatically, I used credit cards to supplement my lifestyle, always thinking that "once I'm healed from THIS surgery, I'll be able to get caught up." That day never happened, as every time I turned around, I had re-injured myself and needed yet another surgery. You can probably guess where this is heading; Not only was I dealing with constant pain, PT/recovery and wondering how I was going to stay afloat, but also being afraid to answer my phone as the collection calls continued to inundate my voicemail and my LIFE. Pride kept me from seeking a solution sooner but finally this ole dog learned a new trick. After considering my options I decided to look into filing for bankruptcy. But WHO? There are many lawyers out there but after extensive research, I found Todd and his accommodating and amazing team. They walked me through the process and never once made me feel like the "loser" I was in my own mind. Bad things happen to good people and we all deserve to cut ourselves some slack and get a fresh start.
