I may be a couple years late writing this but I felt like Ray did a great job helping me out. I lived several states away and was dealing with a ex spouse who was trying to alienate me from my daughter. Ray worked things out where I got to spend a lot of time with my daughter that has led to 3-4 years of success so far. There’s was some things that he understood better than I could in my early 20’s & I realized he really set me up for gradual success with my daughter as long as I put in the effort. It’s been years later now and I’ve gradually have been getting more and more time with my daughter. I have a beautiful relationship with my daughter today and I now get my daughter even living across the county for a month after every two months with her mother. I get my daughter 33.3 percent of the time now living across the country. It’s given me a father in family court a solid fighting chance to have full custody in the future if the cards fall right & if it’s ever needed to be pushed in favor for one day. More importantly I have a strong relationship with my daughter today & I believe it’s thanks to Ray in a lot of ways. I would of been unfairly alienated without a doubt if it wasn’t for Ray. I strongly recommend Ray because I believe he has a great understanding and knew what my fight might be long term & he made it all a simple process for me even tho I lived states away. When we went to court I felt like he attempted to fight for everything I asked him to and put in effort doing so. Being a man in family court your at a unfair disadvantage naturally lets be honest. But I felt like Ray went in there and fought for me and we won in a lot of ways when he came up to bat that day. There will be pros and cons to any lawyer that you like more and less about. If I just had to find a con for review purposes I guess it would be that there could be more of a personal touch at times on some topics. But you have to remember we don’t pay lawyers to make us feel better we pay them to get results. All I can do is share how he represented me and he gave a young man in a hard spot a fighting chance. I have a GREAT relationship with my daughter today because of it. She is a daddy’s girl & will tell you herself. That’s thanks to the work Ray did for me. I highly recommend if your searching for a lawyer talk to Ray. I know he will fight for what you want and ultimately win you the the best realistic scenario out of the situation. I don’t know if Ray will ever see this one day but I appreciate him. If I ever find myself in a situation again in Colorado there’s no doubt about it he’s the guy I’m calling!!

Ray and his staff were focused and efficient with time and money. They also proved their experience in my case, and thought of things, I never would have. I felt confident going into meetings and in dealing with the other party that I had the better attorney on my side. Very thankful that I chose Chamberland Law compared to the other options I was looking into.

Ray and Cindy helped me with my complicated divorce. They represented me in court and took care of all the paperwork. They got everything done within 4 months, which I thought was very quick. I'm pleased with the work they have done, and I'm happy to be divorced.

Justin did a great job of helping us to understand our options while developing our estate plan in a very efficient and pleasant manner. He also engaged our remote Financial Planner and CPA in a manner that was productive and elicited nothing but favorable comments from them. We would definitely recommend him to anyone needed estate planning work.

In my opinion, you could not find a more competent lawyer to help plan, develop, and produce estate management documents. I met with Justin individually, then he met with my family, my children, then he produced drafts for our review. The final product is a binder that contains all of the documents presented very professionally, accompanied by a flash drive that can be used to share the documents with my children. Five stars out of five!

After doing research on Estate planning help, I contacted Justin. He was up front about costs, services and process. I felt the other sites were ‘serving à la carte’ for services that were necessary thus pushing the actual cost up. I also liked Justin’s ability to really listen to my particular needs. His experience and creativity helped me find solutions that set my mind at ease. I feel confident in recommending Justin for Estate Planning.

I have been introdced to Kevin and his team indirectly at first due to Mother going Home June of 2017. Kevin is the attorney she selected to draw up her trust. All that really needs to be said is I have dealt with mzny attorneys in several areas of law and none exude the level of professionalism and semse of duty to their profession and clients interests as Kevin. In an area of law that is viewed by the general public as shady and rift with fraud, Kevin and his people exemplify the way this most difficult of scenarios a family has to endure should be handled. If you are in need of an attorney for the wealth protection and future planning, I can not stress enough that Forbush legal should be the first one you call. Mind you, I live in Las Vegas, NV. Kevin's office is in Colorado Spprings, CO. I have formed this opinion fron only emails and phone calls, I have yet to personallly meet him or any of the staff I have been working witb, thar is how good they all are in one of the most dufficukt areas of Law. If you don't at least make an appointment you are selling yourself short. Enough said. Thank you Kevin and all your staff I can not adequately thank you.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
