CGH did an excellent job in guiding us to achieve a settlement with 2 insurance companies after an accident in the mountains of Colorado. Dave Ratner has been our attorney since 2016.  Dave is experienced, intelligent, efficient, consistently responsive and timely, and unusually conscientious about his time with respect to the financial limitations artists are often operating within.  Dave takes unusual care to examine anything that requires investment and expenditure.  That is, he is someone who is collaborating with us to stretch resources as far as they can possibly go. I would like to also describe Dave in a more personal way.  I always look forward to our meetings.  We always have a laugh.  When Dave talks about projects, he always uses the words “we” and “our.” In so many ways, Dave communicates that he is standing shoulder to shoulder with us on each project and concern. I think of Dave not as “the IP attorney,” but as the collaborator who understands the law and addresses legal issues, from contracts to trademark filings to answering random questions like, “Can we illustrate Muppets along with our story characters in this panel?” We have worked with Dave in the realms of apps, print books and web content, and, unfailingly, he is both a careful listener and someone who will courageously do his job.  It’s not easy to tell people things they don’t want to hear.  After combing through the shortcomings of a messy “Frankencontract,” with a fine tooth comb, Dave told us flat out that we were not getting a good deal. We were disappointed to hear that news for a little while, but, for a much longer time, we will be relieved and grateful that Dave shined a spotlight on all of the nitty-gritty problems. I am *SO* grateful to Tim Galluzzi and the whole team over at CGH. In 2019 I suffered a head injury at my place of business. After I GTFO of that location, Tim represented me in my premises liability lawsuit against my (past) commercial landlord. In the 2 1/2 years between filing the suit and completing settlement, I had dozens of hours of conversations with Tim and his team. At every single moment throughout, I felt respected and cared-for. I never felt bossed around, or like Tim had his own agenda for me. Tim helped me understand every step of the process, answering my many questions, and always gave me the space to make my own decision about how to proceed through all the twists and turns. Did I enjoy the process? Certainly not. Can I imagine having a better experience with a different lawyer? Also certainly not. Everyone here has been so helpful words can't describe it but im going to do my best because if you are in a tough spot this is THE place to go. In the shipping industry we try to sell on the set it and forget it and I feel like that's my experience here. They are doing so much in the background and do a great job of keeping everyone up to date. but not bombarding me with every little update. And when questions come up they are very responsive - even when the main attorney on the case is on vacation. That's the logistics side, but the important part is having someone like Iris in your corner. From day 1 Iris has been advocating for me in every way she can. Reading all the court documents and how they make arguments is simply top notch. Even if the years start stacking up you can count on them giving you an honest assessment of the case. It honestly feels like an extension of my family but the tenacity of a big fancy corporate attorney but a desire to push the legal system to care about people that might not be as well off as fancy CEOs and corporations.
