Should be 10 stars! Sharp as a razor, extraordinarily caring, absolutely dedicated to the pursuit of making divorce less painful - in other words - not your typical divorce lawyer. If you want to be treated like a human being, have someone who will be honest with you, lay out all the facts, navigate you through all the bs and genuinely cares about getting you into a new life you can actually survive and sustain, there isn’t a better choice. Divorce sucks and it’s shark infested waters finding a good attorney - do yourself a tremendous favor and have Lori Barkus on your team.

I want to wholeheartedly thank Gary here because he helped me not only “win” my divorce case, but most importantly, protect my belief in justice, which I cannot live without. I must admit that my divorce case was overly complicated due to its foreign national nature. Additionally, the opposing party’s unfaithfulness to the facts further added an extra layer of complexity to the case. All these complications, instead of leading to a dilemma for the opposing party to take advantage of, only served as a foil to reflect Gary’s excellence in the practice of family law. My after-the-fact fortune converges to the decision of choosing Gary over a big law firm (that my ex-wife went with), not only because Gary was more cost-effective, but also because with Gary, I received a continuity of uniformly excellent service throughout the process. In contrast, my ex-wife had to swap attorneys several times, all being young and seemingly inexperienced. Even though the opposing party was the Petitioner and I was the Respondent, Gary led the entire process over the opposing party, e.g., suggesting an expert and arbitrator to facilitate the process, being vigilant on every detail, and confronting the opposing party with confidence backed up by evidence. I enjoyed every minute with Gary. He’s “old” enough to be equipped with extensive knowledge and experience, while “young” enough to actively stay energetic and sharp; he’s rigorous enough to connect family matters to law, while flexible enough to map out tactics and strategy; he’s compassionate enough to feel what I feel, while tough enough to defend me whenever I needed. He’s not just a lawyer but a lawyer with a heart. Even though divorcing with a lawyer is costly, it would have been impossible for me to go through the process, handle the extreme stress, and manage the malevolence from the opposing party by myself. Whenever I rethink it, I only feel fortunate and grateful that I had Gary.

Highly recommended! John represented me when I was hit by a car. The driver was under insured. John got me maximum amount of money from the drivers insurance then got maximum money from my policy. When my insurance payed out slowly he then went after them for a bad faith claim getting me even more money. John is kind and pleasant to work with but aggressive in getting claims paid out!
