The team at Goff Law Group truly went above and beyond in handling my personal injury claim. They diligently explained every situation in detail to me and answered all of my questions. Melanie, the paralegal assigned to my case was very detailed oriented and responsive to any need. I had the pleasure of dealing with Attorney Annette Smith who, from the very start, was upfront and realistic regarding the situation and expectations. In the end the group maximized my claim--for which I am very grateful. I was very fortunate to fall into the care of the Goff Law Group, and I would recommend them to anyone in need of a law firm to handle a personal injury matter.

Two years ago my husband and I were walking out to our car in our apartment complex and they didn’t plow it and I fell on my hip that had been previously broken and I already have severe back issues I decided that after speaking to a few people I should definitely call an attorney and I have seen her commercials and billboards and I was like you know up I feel like she would be a great fit for me they kept me up-to-date on everything going on from the beginning to the end I couldn’t have chosen A better lawyer her staff is absolutely fantastic and they got me a significant compensation for not only my pain and suffering but for missing a lot of activities that I enjoy because I was in severe pain I cannot express enough if you need a lawyer contact this team because they are on your side 110% absolutely the best

I did not deal directly with Brook Goff, but did with her firm. I had a couple of lawyers, and they didn't work out. The one that did was Tiffany Sabato. She was stellar! Called me with information, called if she needed more information, kept me up to date on what was going on. I live out of state, but my accident took place in CT. It was reassuring to know that someone was watching out for me. Thanks again Tiffany for all your hard work, but happy I hope to never have to use a lawyer for the rest of my life.

I have to say I was scared at first,I never sued anyone before, but Brooke took me under wing and taught me so much. She is definitely a great teacher she took me through step by step, made sure I understood everything, and I couldn,t be any happier. She is so smart she surrounds her self with great attorneys and each one is highly qualified in their field. the one thing I can say is to keep up with her you,ll need roller skates the woman never stops till she gets what she wants for her clients, she is one ball of energy. Thankyou Atty Brooke and to your wonderful staff for literally taking me by the hand and taking me through this whole thing, you have my respect and gratitude ,many thanks again This is one young woman you should get to know especially when dealing with legal matters.Much appreciation Denise

I think everyone should know about the Goff law group. Whether its workmans comp or personal injury Brooke Goff excels in both! Her team that she has personally hand picked are professional, knowledgeable, caring, thoughtful and down to earth. Whether negotiating with another attorney, insurance company or battling in a courtroom Brooke will always shine above all of them. I've seen it. Brooke has the ability to run circles around seasoned attorneys and run a court room all without being mean or raising her voice. Something that can't be teached. Brooke is down to earth, funny and a cool person. Brooke genuinely cares about her clients. I would choose Brooke to go head to head with any attorney or insurance company 6 days a week and twice in Sunday. Not all personal injury attorneys are just after a quick buck. It's not all about the money with the Goff law group and Brooke. She's caring, loves her clients and community. Brooke's also an advocate for children. There are lots of workman comp and personal injury attorneys to choose from but only one Brooke Goff. I highly recommend Brooke and her team.

My name is raef and this guy is really good at winning cases. Someone stole my sisters cape which she can't function without, so he sued Oliver Casey for 1,000 dollars for stealing her cape. When she got her cape back, me and her started jumping for joy. I can't believe she found her cape.

Where to begin, because I didn't when I got arrested and falsely charged with a dui. I called a couple other lawyers and firms and didn't have any good feelings about who I talked to, felt like they just wanted my money. Tamar gave me excellent advise and made me have no worries proceeding forward with her representation. We went to several hearings with the outcome still wanting to charge me with my crimes, but Tamar took no for an answer she knew something wasn't right with how everything went down that night for me. After a few months and a couple hearings later my case we dropped and only a small fine was acquitted towards me, she saved my future this is something that could of greatly affected me and ruined my life in many ways. I'm very grateful for Tamar's efforts, professionalism, and kindness I highly recommend using her in any situation you may have.

I hired her to help with a situation with my sister. I sent her the information she needed and she let me know her cost. She was very honest and said she would try to get it resolved as quickly as possible and she did. I would recommend her and I will certainly use her service again if need be.

I was referred to Tamar by my custody lawyer Anthony Solomine for a unjustified dui pullover. From the moment I consulted with Tamar I knew she was on her game and the lawyer for me. The night after I hired her she contacted me and had already been in touch with the PD and DMV for my case. She went above and beyond what I expected from any lawyer on a case like this. She was very thorough and always prepared. Getting me sentenced to the least possible charges with this case. I plan on keeping Anthony and her as my lawyers and already have referred her to several people. One of which I know has chose to use her and is also very happy with how she is handling his case so far.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of West Hartford, Connecticut?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
