Joy Haynes was recommended to us by dear friends, who had been in a very similar immigration situation. We are a lesbian bi-national couple, that was in need of a Green Card for the foreign partner, to allow her a life with her wife in the United States. From day one on of our process, Joy was very helpful, when it came to answering all of our questions. Though our contact with her was 100% online, she was always available and quick to answer questions through emails, give us guidance and when required, she would talk to us via Skype in preparation of all our legal steps. The long distance between Miami and Washington, DC was no problem at all. We felt we were in good and reliable hands, which was important to us. Thanks to her unbiased and positive attitude and her capable staff members (Raisa, Rina), our worries and anxieties over the whole process got done away with and replaced by optimism and peace of mind, which was a big deal, as everybody knows, who has "been there". We highly recommend Joy Haynes and Haynes Novick Immigration Law Firm, if you are in need of a lawyer - especially for LGBT matters. We felt extremely well-represented by her and will definitely work with her again, when the time comes. Thank you again, Joy & Staff

Amy Novick was the only Lawyer I could have a regular conversation over the phone! I work at the World Bank Group, and thus my whole family holds a G4 Visa. My three children had met the 7.5 years required for them to apply for a Green Card, so I started to ask colleagues for Immigration Lawyers. In the WBG intranet page there is a list with a dozen of possible options. I called and/or emailed at least 7 of those names. Most of them had an assistant that knew nothing about the process and, at best could, book a consultation appointment within a week. Others had answering machines. Amy was the only one that picked-up her phone the first time I called, kindly responded all my questions in my first phone call with her, and showed real interest in me and my family as clients. She explained what we were responsible for, what she would do, how long was the whole process likely to take, how much we had to pay the US Immigration Services, and how much were her fees. A week after we spoke over the phone, we were signing a service contract, she accompanied by email the whole process, confirming we were going to the appointments we needed to go to, biometrics, etc, and after no more than two months, in what for us was a seamless straight forward process, my three kids got their green cards in the mail. Some of the other lawyers responded latter, but to be quite honest, they made me feel that they would be doing me a favor and/or they could not be bothered, thus had me talk with their assistants. Amy was the only one that had a service oriented attitude, heard what I was asking, and provided knowledgeable straight forwards responses. Price-wise they all charge more or less the same, but kind-quality service has no price. I recommend Amy Novak to anyone.

My wife needed legal help for a 2-yr home restriction waver. Upon meeting with Amy, we already had some idea about the likelihood/risk facing our case through consultation with other lawyers. We decided to stick with Amy for 2 key reasons: First, DC is a highly dense market for immigration lawyers and Amy's firm appeared both competitive and reasonably affordable. Second, through consultation with Amy on the phone, we were impressed with her attention to details, which proved critical as the case progressed. We would work entirely on the phone, occasionally on Skype, without much difficulty. Just the number of pages of primary evidence - mostly doctor letters that Amy drafted and edited - and personal statements alone was probably worth the entire legal fee we paid. On top of that, I believe that the case she prepared, including circumstantial and secondary evidence, left no stone unturned. The last part was probably critical since we had friends whose cases were similar to ours but failed due to inadequate preparation. USCIS and the State Dept took nearly all of the 8 months allowed to come back to us, thankfully, with an approval. Amy kept in touch with us throughout the waiting period and only closed the case once we had the paperwork in hand. Her professionalism was an important assurance for us during the entire process. With her help we always knew that we did all we could for our case.

Our encounter with Amy started shortly after we received a devastating GC denial letter from USCIS. The letter requested me leave the US in a month stating that I failed to provide any documents that could waive my J1's 2-Year home residency requirements. I came to the states as an Au Pair from China. Unlike most Au Pairs from other countries, my J-1 visa had a 2-Year home residency requirement that typically applies to exchange scholars sponsored with government funding or anyone with special skills. None of the above applied to me. Therefore after I was able to change my visa from J-1 to F-1 status, I really didn't think too much after I married my husband. Like many of my friends, I thought I could prepare all the paperwork myself and I couldn't be more wrong. I started dialing everyone on the list. I narrowed down my list to only two lawyers in DC. Amy was one of them. We went with our family lawyer to both consultations in hopes of deciding on one. We didn't choose Amy first because the other lawyer offered a cheaper rate. Our case required a couple steps. First was the advisory opinion from the department of the state that states I am not subject to 2-Year requirements; then we had to refile for my permanent resident status. I also had to apply for a J-1 waiver from Chinese embassy. My lawyer couldn't be of much help since the application process was all in Chinese. This lawyer was not proactive. When I asked him a few questions regarding my case, instead of advising me based on his professional opinion, he would ask me if he should or should not proceed. He was not good with communication and that made my anxiety even worse. As time went by, I know my confidence in him had gone downhill and I decided to ask Amy to help me with the rest of filing. My husband and family lawyer both expressed concern over changing to a different lawyer at this point but I knew I couldn't work with him any more. After working with Amy for about 6 months, I received my GC in Dec last year right before Christmas. It couldn't have been a better Christmas gift for us. There are three main reasons why Amy was a success for us and why you should hire her too. First and for most, she is extremely thorough in preparing a winning case. A friend of mine once complained about the fact that her immigration lawyer went with them to GC interview but seemed to know nothing about their case, it made them furious and never wanted to refer him. Amy made sure she knew every aspect of our case and she found a big issue with our last filling that was somehow missed by USCIS. My husband's income wasn't enough and we needed a co-sponsor. Once we got that figured out, she finally considered it ready to be resubmitted. She was right. Secondly, she is very good with communication. I believe a great lawyer knows how to address clients' needs by providing timely correspondence. Amy never had me waiting for a response more than a day. Any questions that we had, she made sure to answer promptly. Unlike some lawyers who have their associates to correspond with clients to great extent, Amy emailed or talked to us directly for the most part. We felt our case was being taken care of by an immigration lawyer that actually cared about us and her work. Last but not least, she is such a compassionate lawyer who also addressed our emotional needs. One thing that my previous lawyer never provided was compassion. After all, not everyone is capable of compassion. We could feel that for her, we were not just another client but someone who needed her help and someone she was ready to help. She listened to our stories and recognized our anxiety and fear. She was kind and capable. It was such a great experience with her that we couldn't be happier that she was our lawyer. We were very fortunate to have her and I hope if you are in need of great help facing a devastating immigration situation like we did, Amy is certainly the one to go for. We truly recommend her

I would like to thank you "Haynes Novick Immigration" Jim Tom Haynes and his employees, especially Rina Gandhi!!, for providing excellent service & recommendations for me through the long and complicated asylum case. I had the other attorney office experience before (I wish I hadn't))), and was referred to HNI by an acquaintance. No delays, mistakes or any other issues I had with Haynes Novick. However, if anything was going wrong during the process, it was handled professionally in timely manner. I definitely recommend Haynes Novick Immigration services for anyone who are looking to get help with their immigration status.

My husband and I highly recommend Joy as an immigration attorney. We applied for change of status in June 2015 and my husband received his green card within the predicted timeframe. She made the experience completely easy and stress-free. Even though we live in New York, all the paperwork was conveniently handled by email and all meetings were conducted via Skype. She thoroughly explained every step of the process and promptly replied to any questions or concerns we had. It was a smooth, flawless experience and we are very pleased with the outcome.

My partner and I had an amazing experience with Joy Haynes at Haynes Novice immigration to get my green card. We had been especially concerned when we filed our case because we are a same-sex couple and DOMA had just recently been overturned, so we were not sure what to expect. We are also both transgender, so finding a lawyer who was knowledgable in trans issues and immigration law was a top priority. We were impressed by Joy's professionalism, expertise, and ease with which she handled our case. We highly recommend her for other LGBT couples seeking a great lawyer for their green card applications!

We were referred to Amy by a colleague at my job who had great success with her Green Card process with Amy. She too had heard about Amy from another one of our colleagues who was in a similar situation. Needless to say, Any has now become by work group's go to lawyer for immigration and green card processing needs. Amy is not just an excellent attorney she is also super kind, caring and genuine. Very hard to find these days. She ensured we understood the entire process well, set reasonable expectations and delivered results. She was calm and composed and handled everything with ease. It was an extremely simple process getting the green card with her guidance. She and her team handled everything. I 100% recommend Amy for any of your immigration needs!

We just got my husband's green card after this past Christmas and as Joy said "It’s a Christmas miracle!"... I believe so too. We got married in August 2015 and applied all the forms by the end of September 2015 in Cleveland, OH. All the process of collecting necessery documents was really easy by the guidance of Joy and Raisa (our case manager). I would strongly recommend Joy as your immigration attorney even though she is in a different city as you live. All our conversations with her were accomplished via Skype or e-mails (this method worked really good because she responded really fast, on weekends, late in a day). Thank you, Joy and Raisa.

Joy Haynes was recommended to me and my husband by another immigration attorney to help with my husband's green card application. My husband was in the country on an H1-B visa (through his employer) and we were eager for him to receive permanent residency through marriage. We were married in December and Joy helped us to file our paperwork literally the day after our wedding. She is quick, efficient and navigates the system easily. Joy made sure we were well-prepared and well-informed each step of the way. She is extremely responsive and communicative. Joy provided us with accurate and helpful coaching in advance of our INS interview, and we felt well-versed and ready the day of. We received my husband's green card just a few weeks later. All in all, Joy made this process (which can seem overwhelming) smooth and easy. She clearly enjoys what she does and is a pro. I would absolutely recommend Joy to those searching for an immigration attorney.
