Its my pleasure to write a review for Ms. Amy Novick. I had a major immigration problem in the airport when I came to the US for the second time from India. I was given a stay of one month in the US from the airport authorities. My girl friend was a US citizen but we did not know how to proceed with the case. We consulted numerous lawyers. Most of them asked us to go back to India and file papers from there. We were very confused and worried. We did not know how to tackle this situation. We heard good things about Ms. Amy from online searches. The office was kind enough to schedule an emergency appointment with her. Though we spent more than hour discussing about our case, she still charged us for one hour. This is in contrast to some lawyers who could not even spare us anytime to discuss the case and were charging for just a call on the phone. When we met her for the first time, she was very thorough with the immigration laws. She did not give us any false hopes or promises. She treated my girlfriend as her own daughter and advised our family what she would do if she was in our place instead. She did an outstanding job from the very beginning to the end of the case. We are getting married soon and this is happening mostly because of Ms. Novick. I wanted to write, and thank you for all your help. Starting from the initial advice, to taking us through the process, your guidance has brought us to this happy conclusion. We are both thrilled, as is the whole family. Thank you, very very much.

Amy is a professional and very competent immigration lawyer with a pleasant personality. She has a particular knowledge of the complications of persons employed at international organizations such as the World Bank and provided me with a first class service.

Amy Novick was advising us on our Adjustment of Status. Her valuable legal advice, her amazing diligence, her knowledge and contacts as well as her ongoing tracking of the status of application were crucial for the successful acceptance of our application. Thank you, Amy!

If you are seeking a same-sex immigration attorney / lawyer for the green card process in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C., I wholeheartedly recommend Joy Alegria Haynes. Joy is extremely fair and transparent with pricing; there are no surprise fees. She was very responsive to our questions, and no question was too small. Joy understood the challenges of the process, and was a nice blend of compassion and skill. She is very conscientious, kind-hearted, professional, empathetic and very knowledgeable. Joy is dedicated to working with the LGBT community on immigration issues. It was a pleasure working with Joy.

I highly recommend Joy Alegria Haynes as a lawyer / attorney for U.S. same-sex immigration and the ‘green card’ process in the states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. After inquiring about same-sex immigration (via email) with several attorneys in the Washington, D.C. area, my husband and I were most impressed with Joy’s prompt, professional and succinct reply. Her fees are extremely reasonable. She delivered on all aspects of the immigration process. Throughout the entire process, our emails to Joy were always answered the same business day, usually within a couple of hours. There is a lot of waiting for immigration officials to process various aspects of one’s green card application, so having a reliable and diligent lawyer was very comforting. Joy is extremely well-organized and efficient. Having an outside, objective professional involved in a process that can be emotional, given its importance, was critical to achieving a happy outcome. Joy brought us tremendous peace-of-mind. Nowhere was this more important than when we were preparing for the interview. I was nervous about the interview, but as with all steps, Joy went over the process with us and ensured that we had all our documentation in order. Also for my peace-of-mind, we had Joy attend our interview. The interview went extremely well because of the prep that we had done with Joy. If you are seeking legal representation in your same-sex immigration application, Joy Alegria Haynes is a dedicated, knowledgeable and kind-hearted professional. Glen Moulton

I've worked with Amy on two matters. The first was a petition for adjustment of status for my husband. It was relatively straightforward, but it was obviously of the utmost importance to us, and I (myself an attorney) was nervous. Amy's calm competence did wonders for my state of mind. She was highly responsive and addressed all of our questions. The insights she shared ensured that we sailed smoothly through the process. The second matter was a complex H-1B visa application for the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization. I am the President of the Board, and as soon as the issue came up, I knew that we would have to take it to Amy. She was terrific. She did the research needed to figure out how to best position our application, and she was a source of good advice throughout. I have no doubt that our petition was granted because of her fine work. I have already recommended her to others, and I will continue to do so.

I met with Amy Novick after having met with three other experienced immigration lawyers. She was by far the most competent and knowleadgable. She took care of my EB 1-1 extraordinary ability case within three months while being extremely available, especially on email, and very professional. It was not an easy case, but she made it look like a slam-dunk. She also provided sound advice on my nonimmigrant visa status, which was expiring shortly after I retained her. Let’s put it this way: I cannot imagine recommending anyone else for immigration-related work.

Joy and her team were an absolute delight to work with as we navigated the process of adjusting status due to our same-sex marriage. From our intial meeting, to the moment DOMA was struck down, to the day my husband got his green card, she was our cheerleader and champion. We never felt alone and could not have asked for more support or encouragement, or better guidance in navigating the minefield of immigration. I encourage anyone in a bi-national relationship, whether LGBT or not, to contact Joy for help in the immigration process.

Not only is Joy Alegria Haynes extremely knowledgable about bi-national, gay families---she genuinely cares about GLBT people. WIth all the angst and hesitation we had in finding the right attorney to handle our green card process, we couldn't have been more fortunate to decide on Ms. Haynes. Truly a joy from beginning to end.
