I’m so glad Carolyn was recommended to me. She always returned my emails and my phone calls and got more than I expected in my settlement. I don’t work on Friday, so a lot of communication was done on Fridays and she went above and beyond to meet my needs! I’ve already recommended Carolyn to a couple of my friends! I can’t thank you enough Carolyn for getting what was important to me.

I only write reviews when I am absolutely blown away. In this case, I was blown away with how unbelieveably disrespectful, rude and arrogant Fred Keith was. The first few times I spoke with him, he was talking "at" me which I was willing to overlook as just trying to be informative. However, his true colors showed when I emailed inquiring about the status when my taxes would be completed. Never have I ever be spoken to from a "professional" the way I was by him. He responded via email and immediately blamed the "delay" on me saying I didn't provide information they needed in a timely manor (which is not true, from the first time I spoke to him in December my goal was to having filing completed no later than the end of Janurary so I was very timely with my responses in order to meet the deadline I had set.) and he said lacked basic P&L knowledge (been doing a P&L for 5 years, it's generally pretty straight forward- he did as for some pretty indepth information that's not typical for standard P&L and no one else has ever asked me before). I wasn't complaining about a delay, simply inquiring as it had been a few weeks since there was any type of coorespondence (and well after my goal date). I was able to get on the phone with him (was hoping I misread his tone) but sure enough he continue to be condensing, quite frankly he was totally out of control, calling me stupid, in fact the "stupidist person he'd ever worked with." Thankfully I know myself well and his words are merely a reflection of his own emotional state. Even if I lacked P&L knowledge and was stupid, I believe that clients should be treated respectfully. As professionals its our job to educate our clients in the areas we specialize in. I'm a very upfront person and have to have hard conversations with my clients all the time; There's rarely (if any) a time when a rude, condensending approach is acceptable. If I make a mistake, I apologize genuinely. I received no call back or email from him regarding his behavior. His staff was very helpful and apologized calmly for his behavior which leads me to believe they weren't surprised by my complaint. If you're looking for a professional that will treat you the way you treat your clients, look elsewhere.

These people are some of the world’s best. They helped me every step of the way start and grow my advertising and communications business into a global powerhouse. Their advice, their practical advice, their genuine concern for our firm and its principals, their knowledge of the industry and our clients proved invaluable at every stage. And they continued to provide invaluable services when we sold our company and to its new owners. They are doing the same for the firm I work for now. Work with them. You won’t be disappointed. I’d bet you’d be as delighted as I was. They get it. As their website says, “legal mastery is essential but insufficient. Even the best lawyering must work in tandem with business realities.” They demonstrate genuine care for you, your goals and success. Most lawyers I’ve worked see all the problems, they will help you find the path thru them!!

Ladies, if you are getting divorced, this is the place you want to go, specifically Bart Johnson's team. Bart in particular will comfort and console you and even take you to his home in the avenues and sleep with you. Pictures of him and his clients have been taken exiting and kissing outside of his home, he prefers women of authority, like a doctor or a principal at a school as examples. If you want them to win a case for you however, that is where they lack. They file a lot, but don't succeed in much other than waste your money but at least you get screwed in more ways than one.

I engaged John Snow to represent me in March of 2023 with the only request being to remove a Trustee who had embezzled millions of dollars from a family Trust. The issue with it was that it implicates Kirton McConkie in the fraud so I made certain Parsons Behle had no problem going after “The Lords Lawyers” to which John responded “of course not” On April 14th 2013 he issued a letter to KMC law requesting answers to various questions but in the end has nothing to do with removing the Trustee. KMC Law refused to respond and John brought in Angus Edwards and Mindy Kids to assist. On June 7th or almost two months later Mr Edwards sent the exact letter knowing there would be no response.. August 9th 2023 the three attorneys filed an unrelated derivative claim against my siblings but did confirm the KMC fraud within the body; but just refused to add KMC as a defendant in this $100M estate case. August 18th The attorneys filed amended complaint forgetting to add the summons. They refiled three weeks later on Sept 12th but forgot to verify the complaint. Oct 3rd; I complained to John Snow via emails to which he responded “I do not have the time to read or respond to your questions and we are “done”! I paid approx $75k in fees and accruals to have a trustee removed and instead I was dropped the day before the hearing in which I was forced to go pro se against KMC who Judge Faust let off with a false Jurisdiction issue. He wasted 7 months of my life; took all of my money; and left me with no representation to face the law firm who refuses to account for my parents $100m estate which has been embezzled by my sister and Craig McCullough through “The Old Switcheroo”… Please review case# 230905835 wherein John Snow states Mr McCullough KMC Law has a Professional Conflict of interest and everything the law firm did should be “void” When asked why he refused to go after KMC Law and stand behind his words; he responded “just because I said it does not mean it is true”. All that Parsons and the three attorneys needed to say last March is “sorry; we have a conflict of interest”. But chose instead to breach their fiduciary duty to me and my daughters in favor of apparently keeping their fiduciary duty to the most prestigious religiously affiliated law firm in Utah.. I’m speechless as to how cold hearted and ruthless these attorneys are I’ve been dealing with for four years while being prohibited to see my own dad who is still alive and abandoned by KMC Law who he paid hundreds of thousands in fees to have them protect him; and not my sister Lisa Stephens and her husband Bryan.. Greed is a terrible curse..

If I could give negative stars I would. They were hired as a third party to conduct oath hearings for a break in where my kids could have been home. After 3 months of no communication and messing me around the lawyer is doing shady things as talking to personnel without being under oath to twist the story to say I was home doing burglary. I have submitted phone record and also they can pull tower pings to show that I was never there but instead the lawyer is prolonging the investigation when they have police report and all evidence. The incident was during Xmas time so I was not able to give my kids the Xmas they deserved due to several things were taking out the house. They show no sympathy and compassion as they treat veterans like they do not have a family of their own. I wish they could stop playing games to try and undermine and save the company they work for money by short cutting the customers. The matter in which they do business is unacceptable as us regular people have families just like them.

So after 4 months of thinking my case involving a infestation of mice & rats(caught 15)was being worked on, I found out that my case was terminated almost immediately after accepting my case because I answered no to one of the criminal background questions that mentioned having any recent criminal activities etc which is true, over 6 years plus is not recent so I guess they don’t trust to represent us because of that I feel it’s discrimination because what does having a criminal record have to do with us needing the help?! It shouldn’t have even taking me reaching out to find this out. Very unprofessional for a law firm & they don’t have your best interest obviously.. like how you can’t sympathize with a family that obviously needs representation & justice from & very inhabitable situation if that’s your job?!

My case/need for representation was rather unsual, and I am very grateful that Reid Elkus took me on as a client. He and Amy Morris were both kind, knoweldgable and willing to answer any questions I had concerning very stressful and long proceedings. As the case progressed, Reid checked in with me concerning next steps, making sure I understood the legal end of things and what might unfold with each decision that was made through the court system. By the end of this 2+ year process, Reid had assisted me in not only getting the court (and court of appeals) to dismiss erroneous claims, but also made sure I understood my legal rights, and how to protect myself in the future. I am so very thankful that Denver Classroom Teachers Association had Elkus and Sisson listed as a trusted firm with a special consideration for educators.

I have an Employment issue and Tim Medcoff was recommended to me. When I called, I was "screened" by sharing the issues, etc. I was told that this would be forwarded to to a legal assistant and would be called within 48 hours for further discussion. This was on a Thursday, and MLK was on Monday, so Tuesday would be the day to anticipate the call. The call did not come. So today, Wednesday, I called them. After they found my "file", I was told they were not interested in my case. I asked why no one had called and told me this, after I was told there was interest with no explanation. It was very frustrating and unprofessional. If this is how they treat potential clients, I would hate to be a client. Plus, the consultation fee is high.

I am not one to write many recommendations but I am compelled to do so because of the superior service I have received over the years. Specifically I have been a client of Chris Agostino for over a decade and I could not articulate in writing how much I appreciate him and his firm. Chris has provided guidance on both personal and business issues over the years and I forever grateful for everything he has done for me. In fact, over the years we have developed more than a client/attorney relationship...I consider him a friend and trusted advisor that I have referred to multiple individuals and business owners to him and his firm. I give my highest personal and personal reccomendation to RIW and Chris Agostino. Call me if you have any questions or are considering engagement with this firm.

She is not available to do any closings after 2 pm because she said she will get stuck in traffic on her way home. People from the bank agreed to come at 3 pm and she rudely denied my request. She sent a very rude email telling me that if I am late for the closing she will charge a few hundred dollars extra. The closing only took 30 minutes! Stay away from her, she is NOT flexible and willing to work with her clients! Nasty person... I don't even know why we need a lawyer because she was completely useless.

Dear Readers, I post this review at the conclusion of a very difficult matter. It involved Insurance and liability - property. Mr. Ossi, Mike was referred to me. He and his associated firm Florin and Roebig are respectful, diligent, tenacious and always available. His insight into the matter was spot on and without him - things would not have been resolved. Watch out for Insurance companies and private corporations - the are always out to swindle the customer and the claimant. Michael and his team put a stop to that and provide the advocate that is needed to fix what is wrong with this industry. I have personally checked out Michael and his background as well as his firms work and can highly recommend him. He handles things and is the front man for the teams. His associates work and responsiveness of his office: Ossi and Najem and Florin and Roebig is 4 out of 5. Their voicemail system is a bit clunky and they do not work weekends - I work 7 days a week. Frankly Mike should be a Judge!

I'm sure lawyers are busy... and they should. I would want my lawyer to be busy for me. But I believe when people call, they make the time to contact for reasons. Mr. Ree is really busy; trust me he won't have time for you (Case started year 2012 and it’s 2015 and the case has been settled long ago but a promised check they sent out (twice) never showed up). When you call and with a very slim chance of getting through to him, he'll just make it short; say what he wants to say with only information he knows (could be very bias as he won’t listen to you) and will just hang up on you. (Does not matter how long you have tried to reach him.) His associates are best trained to NOT give you a straight answer and will brush you off without an explanation with the usual “He's in a meeting”, “he's in a jury duty”, etc. But everyone will give you different answers in short period of time thinking that you are pretty dumb.) I think it’s pretty safe for me to state that he’s very selective on whom he needs to talk to when he wants. Surprisingly he’s best line was (of the two very short phone conversation), "you don't even refer customers to me, and it's not my responsibility to make sure you (provider such as clinics) get paid. We’ll talk when you have some referrals for me." First phone conversation was literally 3 seconds, call me back tomorrow and hung up. (Wait a minute, hold off on your big case and wait on that referral, Danny who’s handling the case will said, “I have sent a check out”, he said this, twice; and when I asked for certified mail tracking number he said that is not necessary. Okay, will the check never showed up, and he said he’ll fax over a copy of the check that was sent out and he has not answered phone call nor called back since then.) I can see clearly that he'll pick and choose his cases after what kind of profit he can make off of you. What's mind-boggling is that how would he want any business referrals after this? I thought lawyers are supposed to be somewhat smart. I have heard good things about him, only to find out the opposite, which is very disappointing. If anyone asks, Andrew Ree ESQ. is not a pleasant lawyer to trust your case with. If you have a big case, trust me he’ll want your business like all the lawyers in town. Please don’t waste your time with Andrew. I hope this helps some people. I would want to refer my business and people I care to someone with some morals and ethics as I have seen none or very little from this so called experienced "Guru." Please take your case elsewhere for your sake. I’m not sure this was just one bad case or this is their “pattern” but I can assure you and be warned that it won’t be pleasant. I don’t generally write reviews, at that a negative one, but I thought I spend some time to reach out to have any prospects to think over before you bind your self to a signed contract.

I hired Mr. Honore a few summers ago for a probable cause hearing. The outcome of the case did not go in my favor, and I felt that a large portion of it had to do with the fact Mr. Honore did not properly prepare for or understand the nature of my case. I was subsequently found charged with a crime in which my opinion I should not had been charged with. Had Mr. Honore exhibited more due diligence, I believe the case would have been dismissed and would not have lingered in the court system for an additional 2 years, in which I had to hire another attorney who had the case dismissed. Mr. Honore never even bothered to give me a call about the case or what happened to it. I woukd not recommend him for any criminal law services.

A simple phone conversation and a few texts turned my six year nightmare into the distant past in just a few hours. I paid a visit to the solicitor's office and DA based on Alcide's advice. No longer am I haunted by something I thought would follow me forever. Amazing work and I could not recommend more highly.

What an Entertainment Lawyer Can Do for You

An entertainment lawyer specializes in legal matters related to the entertainment industry, including film, television, music, publishing, sports, and digital media. They assist artists, creators, producers, and companies with contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, licensing deals, royalties, and disputes. Entertainment lawyers also help clients navigate complex industry regulations and ensure their creative rights are protected.

Whether you're an actor, musician, producer, writer, or influencer, an entertainment lawyer can help safeguard your rights and ensure that your business deals are legally sound.

When Should I Hire an Entertainment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring an entertainment lawyer in a variety of situations, including:

  • Contract negotiations: If you're signing a contract for a film role, recording deal, or publishing agreement, an entertainment lawyer can review the terms and negotiate on your behalf to ensure your interests are protected.
  • Intellectual property protection: If you're a creator (musician, writer, filmmaker), an entertainment lawyer can help secure copyrights, trademarks, and licensing agreements to protect your work from unauthorized use.
  • Disputes or litigation: If you’re involved in a legal dispute, such as breach of contract, copyright infringement, or defamation, an entertainment lawyer can represent you in negotiations or court.
  • Representation agreements: If you’re hiring or entering into a contract with a manager, agent, or publicist, a lawyer can ensure that the terms of representation are fair and comply with industry standards.
  • Royalties and licensing: If you're licensing your work for use in film, TV, or digital platforms, a lawyer can negotiate royalty agreements to ensure you receive proper compensation.
  • Talent contracts: Whether you are hiring talent for a project or negotiating your own appearance or performance fees, an entertainment lawyer can ensure the terms are legally binding and beneficial.
  • Film and television production: If you're producing a film, TV show, or other media project, a lawyer can handle contracts with crew, talent, and distributors, and ensure that all legal aspects of the production are covered.

Hiring a lawyer early in your entertainment career or project can prevent costly legal mistakes and protect your creative and financial interests.

What Does an Entertainment Lawyer Do?

An entertainment lawyer provides a range of legal services to professionals in the entertainment industry. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Reviewing and drafting contracts: Entertainment lawyers review, draft, and negotiate contracts for talent, production, licensing, distribution, and endorsements. This ensures that the terms are fair and protect their client's interests.
  • Securing intellectual property rights: They help clients obtain copyrights, trademarks, and patents for their creative works, and assist with licensing those rights to third parties.
  • Negotiating deals: Whether it's a film deal, music contract, publishing agreement, or endorsement, an entertainment lawyer ensures that their client gets favorable terms and is protected from potential legal pitfalls.
  • Handling disputes and litigation: In cases where contract terms are violated, intellectual property is infringed, or other legal issues arise, an entertainment lawyer can represent clients in negotiations, arbitration, or court.
  • Advising on industry regulations: Entertainment lawyers help clients navigate industry-specific laws, such as union regulations, labor laws, or FCC rules for broadcasting.
  • Managing royalties and residuals: They assist in tracking and collecting royalties or residuals for music, film, television, and digital content to ensure clients receive the compensation they are owed.
  • Talent agreements and representation: Entertainment lawyers often work with talent agents and managers, ensuring that their clients' representation agreements are legally sound and financially beneficial.

How Are Entertainment Lawyers Paid?

Entertainment lawyers may be paid in various ways, depending on the type of service provided. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many entertainment lawyers charge by the hour, with rates typically ranging from $250 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fee: For specific legal services, such as drafting a contract or filing a trademark, some lawyers offer flat fees. Flat fees are common in simpler or one-time transactions.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases, especially when working with talent, entertainment lawyers may charge a contingency fee, meaning they take a percentage (usually 5% to 10%) of the client's earnings from a particular project.
  • Retainer: For ongoing legal services, such as managing contracts and royalties over a long period, a lawyer may require a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services, and the lawyer bills against the retainer as they work on the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer at the outset to ensure you understand the total cost of legal services.

How Much Does an Entertainment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an entertainment lawyer depends on the complexity of your legal needs, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of fee arrangement. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Entertainment lawyers typically charge between $250 and $1,000 per hour. More experienced lawyers with extensive connections in the entertainment industry may charge higher rates.
  • Flat fees: For simpler services like drafting a basic contract, flat fees can range from $500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the agreement.
  • Contingency fees: Lawyers working on a contingency basis typically charge between 5% and 10% of the earnings from a project or deal. For example, if a lawyer helps you secure a $100,000 film contract, their fee might be $5,000 to $10,000.
  • Retainers: For ongoing legal representation, retainers can range from $2,500 to $50,000 or more, depending on the scope of the legal services and the length of the engagement.

Always discuss the costs and fee structure during your initial consultation to ensure that the services fit within your budget.

Top Questions to Ask an Entertainment Lawyer

Before hiring an entertainment lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they are the right fit for your career or project. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have in entertainment law?
Ensure the lawyer has experience in your specific area of the entertainment industry, whether it's film, music, television, or digital media.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, flat fee, or contingency fee, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. Do you have industry connections?
Ask about the lawyer’s experience and connections in the entertainment industry, which can be valuable for contract negotiations and deal-making.
  4. What contracts or legal issues should I be aware of?
Ask the lawyer to identify potential legal pitfalls in your specific project or career and how they would help you avoid them.
  5. What intellectual property protections do I need?
If you’re a creator, ask how the lawyer will help protect your intellectual property rights and prevent others from using your work without permission.
  6. How will you negotiate deals on my behalf?
Ask about the lawyer’s approach to negotiating contracts, ensuring they focus on getting favorable terms while maintaining strong industry relationships.
  7. What happens if there is a dispute?
Ask the lawyer how they handle disputes, including whether they aim for negotiation or litigation and how they would protect your interests.

How to Check the Credibility of an Entertainment Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable entertainment lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for entertainment law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in entertainment law and have successfully handled cases or negotiations relevant to your industry.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients say about their experience with the lawyer, especially in terms of contract negotiations and industry knowledge.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on entertainment-related matters.
  • Check for industry memberships: Membership in entertainment law organizations, such as the Beverly Hills Bar Association Entertainment Law Section, can indicate a lawyer’s dedication to staying up-to-date on industry trends and regulations.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with an entertainment lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Current contracts or agreements: Bring any contracts you have already signed or are considering, such as talent agreements, recording contracts, publishing deals, or management contracts.
  • Intellectual property portfolio: Provide details about any copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property you own or are seeking to protect.
  • Project details: If you’re working on a specific project (e.g., film, album, book), provide a summary of the project, your role, and any legal needs, such as contract negotiations or copyright protection.
  • List of collaborators or stakeholders: Provide information about other parties involved in your project, such as agents, managers, producers, or distributors, and any contracts related to them.
  • Questions about your legal needs: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, potential issues, and how the lawyer can help you protect your interests.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your legal needs effectively and provide the best possible advice tailored to your entertainment career or project.
