I would never use this place for legal service. They clearly only care for themselves. Alba who works here likes to order $483.67 worth of groceries 131 units on instacart and have them delivered to the building on the 10th floor WITHOUT giving a single dime for a tip NOTHING...

I ended my relationship with him feeling worse then when I started and in a worse legal and financial situation. He showed up to court at the last minute, making me feel alone and unsupported. He showed up to an online zoom arbitration with a professional mediator in a sweatshirt, which I thought looked sloppy and unprofessional. He yelled at me for being upset that a legal decision went against me, making me feel shamed and judged for feeling upset in very stressful circumstances. I tried to put the whole affair behind me, so we settled my account, I paid a final bill and tried to focus on moving forward. I was unfortunately contacted after we ended our relationship and he told me that he "forgot" to send me a bill that I had to pay.

Horrible people, horrible service. They have the most obnoxious and irritating staff I have ever dealt with my whole life. Very disrespectful and unprofessional.

My wife and I have been through the immigration process with John for several years now and we can't thank him enough. We started the process through my former employer, so John was in the background. But when I decided to leave, John had reached out and simply offered his assistance with the transition. Thankfully, with his tremendous experience, he was able to navigate through the process and helped us avoid critical mistakes and basically watched out for us. He has been responsive, professional and very organized.

This Law Firm misleads people and charges much more than what they say they will. They will intentionally stay on the phone with you to increase your bill. This firm does not provide a quality service. The lawyers are not concerned with your issues, only about charging you what they think they can get away with. Look elsewhere--you will do better. They try to respond to questions that they do not have full knowledge of and still charge you for their "lack of knowledge." Biggest mistake I made was seeking their advice.

My review won’t fit here. I reviewed the law firm on Google and Yelp. One review from 2018 on Yelp and I just updated it tonight. Ms Perry dropped me in 2018. She didn’t call me. She told my husband on the phone. She accused me of drug seeking behavior and that was that. No letter. Her recommendation to see a PT actually made me worse. The chiropractor would try to do an adjustment on an old table and it didn’t work. He would forcefully push down on my back. I had frequent visits to the ER. Some of them were due to the combination of pain meds they had me on. No one said anything about mixing opioids with Benzos. I would need breathing treatments, I do have asthma. The PT place had put me on a combo and never said a thing about just stopping cold turkey. There was no warning about withdrawal when the doctor stopped seeing me. The negligence of the PT contributed to the disabling disorder I have now. Ms Perry found the place and kept in contact with the doctor, He must have told her about a prescription that got lost. My husband was filling and picking up, his ID was scanned every time I believe. I told people I’m in recovery and I did this with all the doctors I was seeing. It’s kind of sad. I feel like there is a stigma for people like me. I trusted these people. I have long term witnesses who can back me up and say I’m sober. So when the doctor and Ms Perry claimed I was a pill seeker I was astonished. So 5 yrs later… no compensation for the car accident I was injured in. I am disabled. I can not afford proper care or treatment. I have had NO income for these past 5 years. https://yelp.to/S0QlYpALyy

this attorney failed to keep active communication with me in regards to my case. He has been rude to me and my family, and even hung up the phone on me when I called to inquire about the status of my case. In 7 months he has NEVER initially called me, I've ALWAYS called him first. He gave me bad advice when it came to my PIP claim and lost wages. I was instructed to collect from my OWN insurance company instead of the commercial company who accepted full liability. I pray I will never need his services again, and I will not recommend him to anyone else. I only feel he is SOMEWHAT knowledgable because of his years of experience. When speaking with him he seems lackadaisical and unsure with his responses. There was absolutely no urgency or will to complete my small case. 7 months and a case this minor - we should be done by now.

DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. These sites do not tell you the full story. RIGHT NOW Mr. Chapman is winning major cases. In 2015 Mr. Chapman just won a discrimination case against the PG County Board of Education. I received exallent advise and a lesson in the laws pertaining to my issue. Mr. Chapman was clear. When your job/life is one the line you want someone who will put forth the extra effort to do what it takes to protect your interests. There is no doubt in my mind that he will do it. He has a passion for his work.

In every sense of the word, this man is a "fraud." Do not give him your hard earned money. Bryan Chapman failed to adequately file my case in U.S. District Court and completely failed to represent me during court proceedings. I doubt very seriously if he passed the bar exams. I retained him to represent me in a case of job discrimination and retaliation. What I discovered too late was that I knew more about discrimination and retaliation than he did!

Pat Regan has proven time and again that he is the very best of the trial lawyers. He is truly a lawyer's lawyer, as his cases often come from other lawyers who need his skill, intellect and resources to handle major cases. He is highly competent, motivated and experienced in the courtroom as well as the conference room. I have worked with him on a number of matters and taught along side him at seminars and colleges. He is an elite lawyer and compassionate advocate.

I'm completely dissatisfied and baffled by the lack of communication I received from Mr. Regan and his firm. Reached out to Mr. Regan for him to represent me in a car accident I was involved in. Spoke with Mr. Regan one time and all communication after was with his assistant (as he was constantly unavailable or out of town) who was less than helpful as every time I requested status she had none to provide. After several months went by without being provided adequate updates, I decided to terminate our attorney-client relationships. I was treated like an afterthought. Would not suggest him or his firm. If you are looking for legal representation that is timely and effective, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Very disappointing experience. Mr Key was very clear about his intention for the trial, including obtaining body cam, dashcam, and CCTV footage. Although the trial was put on hold due to the pandemic, at no point did Mr Key over the course a year and half ever request or even watch any of footage he himself claimed to have wanted. Mr Key is a also a poor communicator. I, for example, only found out the first court date had been postponed because i had reached out to him the day before to find out where we'd be meeting. Mr Key will also take weeks (if ever) to reply to emails. It got to a point where I would have to email him multiple times and ultimately call in order to obtain a response from him. To my point, I am currently waiting on a reply to an email I sent him two weeks ago.

Mr Key represented me for two DUI's and an assault charge. All serious charges that, left in a novice's hands, would have most likely yield a HEFTY fine and/or jailtime. Mr Key worked his magic in the court room and behind the scenes to get all of the cases DISMISSED!!!! The judges and prosecutions respect and regard for Mr Key's presence is immediately apparent. His aggressive, direct, and straightforward demeanor in the courtroom is a prosecutor's worst nightmare!! I highly recommend Mr Key!

During initial meeting with Tully Rinckey lawyer Neil McPhie, fighting a retaliatory termination matter after filing a EEO complaint against my manager, he suggested that my case (should I choose to use his firm) should concentrate on negotiating a settlement offer. The offer would be based on compensatory, agency retaliatory action, whistle blowing, EEO (a dual case). This sounded great and seemed covers all the bases. I learned that in dealing with this firm, Never believe what you hear in the initial meeting. They will say whatever, in order to lock you in, but they do not produce any good outcomes. Mr. McPhee stated that his firm would prefer to negotiate a settlement because going through the discovery process (MSPB) would be very expensive to me. I was currently terminated and unemployed due to my having filed an EEO complaint against my manager. Once paid over five thousand dollars Tully Rincky firm went about preparing the MSPB response. No settlement negotiating offer was initiated by Tully Rincky firm. Instead the entire billing process went into the discovery for the MSPB case. After over a month of receiving/giving evidence to the firm, evidence that had been given to Mr. McPhie in our initial meeting, now I had to give/explain this information to his counterparts. When dealing with this firm I interacted with over five people. Yet none of my inputs went into the documents. The drafts presented, outside of my personal information, were very formatted. A month later it was the opposing agency who initiated the first settlement offer. Once the firm (Tully Rinckey) noted that the agency offer included “ pay the legal fees”, I could get no further assistance in my defense when addressing the initial issues put on the table concerning my termination and my rights. Tully Rincky lawyer, Mr. McPhie turned a blind eye to the defense, and instead left several individuals to handle the case. The objective seems to be “ build more billable hours” and not to concentrate on a settlement offer in my defense. I was constantly brining to Mr. McPhie and his staff attention, the initial objective. I was openly ignored. Mr. McPhie was so out of tune with my case, that he constantly sent me email pertaining to his other client. This became a common mistake on the firm’s part. I would answer and Mr. McPhie would state that, the email was not meant for me, and asks that I erase the email. Yet the email was almost duplicates to what Tully Rincky offered on my behalf as a settlement offer. This showed a complete lack in attention to detail, as well as each client being given individual attention and assistance, offers were pretty standard and favored the opposing agency once legal fees were covered. Again when presenting the evidence in my defense which I wanted submitted in the counter offer, Neil McPhie, he responded by withdrawing and sending out a mass email to the agency, the MSPB board and me, it read “Please be advised that effective immediately, the law firm of Tully Rickey. PLLC is withdrawing its representation of you in your pending MSPB appeal. It is obvious that the trust and confidence necessary for an attorney-client relationship does not exist. I will take steps to inform the judge and agency counsel of my withdrawal.” Neil McPhie had made five thousand dollars at my expense. I experienced that this firm operated like a cattle farm, standardized legal representation and one that caters to building billable hours from their clients. Once you sign their five page contract your open to unlimited billing, and not for the matter that you hired them for. They were efficient in summing me up, a black person so give them a black lawyer. But the objective is the same- gain as much billable hours from the client as possible with no real results given.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
