Attorney Kimura is excellent. He took over for another attorney who wasn’t very good and seamlessly transitioned into providing exceptional legal guidance and assistance and achieved the best possible outcome for my loved one’s case. He goes above and beyond to get the most desirable results, giving his all and is one of the best attorneys in Hawaii. Would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

After a year in a half Kevin supported in getting my case dismissed at the adlro and dismissed in court. He is not the cheapest but the result speak for themselves. My incidents happened in June 2022 I had a interlock system in my car July 2022 and out of my car by September 2022 and I had my license back. Kevin isn't there to make you feel better so as you go through the process while he is confident and that helped me a bit with the stress. Kevin's office team Linda/Rachel made me feel better. The office team emailed me how excited they were when the adlro decision came in the mail. I'm mentioning the ADLRO part more because off the bat Kevin was most confident in Court case. He was 50/50 on the ADLRO part but he knocked that out the park.

Highly rude, needed some help with employment law. Apparently she’s not taking anything but Maui Fire Victims and this is the reason I hate reaching out to lawyers. They want to get paid but pick and choose who they rather give help to even when I have a huge discrimination on sex, sexuality, etc issue with my prior job which even lead me to getting terminated due to retaliation. Which I know is a big lawsuit for Spectrum. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I contacted this law firm about a potential employee discrimination case about a week ago and not only was the front desk lady “Mara” rude, they treated you like this law firm was too good to serve you. When I initiated contact about a potential case, not only did she not seem to care about the info, she said she would send me a survey to see if I even have a potential case which is totally fine. Where things went south is when they were asking for a 350 consultation fee before even seeing if you have a case. That was a huge red flag from the moment I reached out. So you’re telling me that I have to pay 350 bucks with out even knowing if I have a case?.What if you don’t have a case? You still have to pay that 350 consultation fee? In my eyes that’s robbery at its finest. Save your self the trouble and look elsewhere. No law firm is above nor better than a person simply looking for help.

Mr. Brower successfully helped me with my case against a major company that disrupted my life. I talked to other law offices that dealt with employment law and they told me that I had no case. Then I called Mr. Brower's office and on our initial meeting, he sounded very confident and I felt that he truly wanted to help me. On our deposition of the other adverse employee defendant, he was very prepared to ask the tough questions in order to get to the bottom of the truth. I won because of Mr. Scot Brower and his determination and firm resolute to see that justice was served and help people like myself who need a strong legal protector and he protected me because he knows the legal system. Mr. Brower really cared about my case and I have always gone back to him for legal advice. He is adept, determined, and fair to see things through. He helped me and he can help you too.

I hired Scot for a high conflict custody battle with my felonious ex. I believe my case was way to over his head and he was not capable of handling it. I have so much things in my favor,I've never been arrested, journeyman in the union, house, car, etc. My ex is a convicted felon and doesn't even have her license because of her multiple duis and she's not from my state. My ex tried multiple times to get me arrested on bs to gain the upper hand. I was served by the SWAT team right before our first custody hearing. At the TRO hearing I had so much evidence to disprove her claims but he didn't want to use it because it made the relationship sound volatile he said. It was things like her apologizing for trying to sexually assault me one night and how she previously tried to get me on harassment but immediately contacted me to meet her after she wasn't granted a protection order. He didn't even bring up the fact that she sent me her sextape while under this false tro. It was clearly her voice and I even had Google support verify that someone else hacked my account and sent it. The audio is clearly her as she has a distinct southern accent. If anyone talked to her for a minute they would recognize her voice. Why would you not bring that up? When I first hired him I asked him what about her belongings. He said 30 days and do what you want. At pre trial be said the closest thing they had against me was I sent a pic of her belongings about to be trashed. . But I only did that because she ghosted me for weeks about son so I assumed they were abandoned or they left to her home state. I gave her 15 weeks notice. He never even brought up that the very next message I had sent was that I still couldn't do that. It was literally the next message. He never brought up that she told me she was at the ala Moana hotel and that I didn't know but it turned out that it was a dvac safehouse. I was going there every other day to take them to the doctor. I had no idea. I have proof of everything I'm saying. All our messages were printed out in a PDF format too. He advised me to take a civil order and every other attorney I talked to after and showed them what I have said they would have fought it and gotten it dismissed. I was awarded joint legal at least. My final straw and the reason why i felt I could no longer trust him is because I had sent what my ex sent me in the talking parents app and asked her to not do that to harass or provoke me. She tried to get me arrested for that and the next day a cop came to arrest me. After showing him and explaining what happened he told me what to write so I wouldn't get arrested. He said why didn't your attorney make it a mutual restraining order so you can be protected. I called him after and asked and he told me "well unfortunately she can do that, suck it up". Wow. Ok. He have me no guidance over the course of 5 months I think when I hired him in December. He never even fought for me for custody or visitation and that worked against me. Like I said earlier, I have no record and no drug addictions and never been to rehab. My ex has though and I have proof of everything. I even have a section in my binder that was just her suicide threats. He was extremely disorganized as well he had their discovery questions for two months and gave them to me the day before they were due. Be never even told me to write anything either for them. when i finally had enough, and wrote a letter about my disappointment, he spent more time talking to me about how much of a better attorney he was than any other attorney that he didn't know who I was even talking to yet. That was the most he talked to me. My current attorney, did more for me in one week, than the course of 5 months that I had Scot. My regret was hiring him and wasting 8k. He took over 3 weeks to give me my file back also. Maybe I'm wrong but that seems like a long time to make some copies. I'm just grateful I have a good attorney now. I will be filling a complaint.

Mr. Scot Brower is professional and very knowledgable in the field - I recommend reaching out for legal advice regarding employment! Reached out for quick legal advice regarding an employment claim and was satisfied with my consulting experience. Due to the urgency of my situation, I was worried he would not have enough time to work with my case but he was very responsive! Within the first 5 minutes of the call, he was able to provide feedback of possible claims without the need for personal information or documents. I was impressed with his response and moved forward with a remote consultation. He immediately called back with all options available including possible outcomes. I appreciated his honesty and transparency without the pressure to take action. Moving forward, I will definitely keep in touch with Scot Brower as a recommended attorney in the future. Reading through previous reviews - I feel its the client's responsibility to know your intentions and prepare questions before calling or reaching out. Initially, he did not request documentation or employment details until moving forward with the consultation. Lawyers want to help but will not waste time if they are unable to receive information needed to provide legal support.

The Public defender's office in Kona. Is located on the corner of Henry Above the 24 hour fitness. The attorneys are Overworked and understaffed, but they are all very dedicated to the task at hand and are serving a vital role in our community. Often difficult clients who have a set of problems of their own and judges tend to bust their chops if they aren't performing at their best or say something quite right. I know this for a certainty, each member of this office is serving from the heart, and doing all they can to make sure justice is served. Heroes each one in my estimation.

I did no hire Megan to be upfront, and I've worked with just shy of a dozen attorneys in my life for everything from business to litigation, medical and civil rights, estate and housing, TM & Copyrights. But this situation (Only in Hawaii, HA!) I found myself at a brick wall sort of situation with serious conflicts and was actually afraid. Megan not only took the time to talk with me, but she assured me that I had the ability to address this issue through available channels and it was possible without any legal representation. For a lawyer to put their ability to profit aside and encourage solutions is what Attorneys I've respected have always done. My appreciation and respect for sharing what was in your capacity, and encouraging me to understand what was in mine!

Megan and her staff were very professional when questioning me regarding an incident a friend of mine was involved in. The were quick to respond, always upfront with what was going on in court. Even briefed the family and friends in the courtroom regarding the procedural steps in a trial. It's not like TV and she made it easy to understand. She was caring and answered questions. Was she mean, yes to the opposing attorney. She did her job and defended my friend to her best ability. I would hire Megan to be my attorney should I need someone to represent me in court.

Jim Bickerton treats his clients like trash. I was one of them but left due to the unprofessional conduct of that firm. Bickerton and Robert Miyashita must always have "client control" which includes preventing the client from knowing what's going on with the case, not providing the pleadings and not allowing the client to have ANY say in their own lawsuit. But the client has a right to know and a right to make decisions under the rules of professional ethics governed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. Do yourself a huge favor and shop around where the arrogancy can't be cut with a knife.

We hired Mr . Suzuki to do trusts for my husband and me and a third party trust for our son. Mr. Suzuki was referred to us as a specialist in that field. We hired him during covid which may be part of the issue, but we found him cold, difficult to communicate with, and VERY expensive. He charged us over $6500 to create our trusts but then refused to help determine if the paperwork had been executed correctly (because of covid we were not allowed in their office and we were working with different notaries in different countries -- at great expense). His office also refused guide us in funding our trust. We now have to pay another attorney to do it. My advice is to use Sterling and Tucker -- they are much better to deal with, are specialists, care about their clients, and follow you through until your expensive document is complete. We have spent a lot of money and have nothing of value to show for it.

His easy-going nature really put me at ease, especially since i was already going through a really tough time. Everyone at the immigration office knows him and seems to like him too. I could have fought my ex-husband on the divorce but Jim's sage advice kept us on civil terms, which cost me a lot less money. I have referred several friends to him and everyone came out on top. Really glad i found someone experienced, knowledgeable, and hilarious to boot.

I will say this, Andrew Cheng is on top of things. Anytime I contacted him with a question, he contacted me immediately. I moved to Georgia during my workman's comp case and he STILL kept in good contact with me. Thank you so much.

I am a physician and I had dealings with Kirk Neste at this firm. He seemed to be nice at first, and I, in good faith kept my end of the agreement that we had negotiated. After this, he did not answer my attempts to reach him and did not keep his end of the deal. Basically, he lied to me. Very unprofessional. I do not recommend working with a firm that has lawyers like this.

  5. Who will be working on my case?

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
