I was represented by Art Macomber and Macomber Law from 9/21-4/22 with regards to an Inter-pleader Complaint that was filed against me for a real estate purchase that did not close from. During this time Macomber Law was sold and Art Macomber was no longer an employee of Macomber Law, which had a direct result to the outcome of my case in a negative way. Lack of Competent Representation, Important Information Not Being Conveyed, Missed Deadlines and Improper Court Procedure resulted in a judgement against me. Claiming No Responsibility, Lack of Action or Accountability on either Art Macomber or Macomber Law in helping to resolve the issues pertinent to my original Inter-pleader case, I am now faced to deal with numerous legal actions, court cases, fees, expenses, and damages because of my hiring Art Macomber and Macomber Law as my legal counsel.

I hired Miss Martin for a very simple case even the appellate lawyer whose appealing my case because she lost a "give me case" that should have been not guilty even the Illinois appellate Court said "she failed to do her job correctly" and that is actually written in the appeal so I would use high caution extreme caution if you plan on hiring this so called attorney or plan on losing.....

I hired Miss Martin for several cases the one should have better given since I had the order protection to begin with she wouldn't even file perjury charges which was evident there was massive perjury going on not to mention she up and moved in the middle of the court case leaving me stranded after being paid her full amount, which she agreed on one dollar amount for representation but when it took longer she demanded another $500 she wasn't even worth the first 500 I highly suggest if you're looking for a good attorney you look somewhere else. And yes I have every intention of filing a complaint with the bar and hopefully her license will be pulled because she has no business practicing law for anyone, I did better on my own and it didn't cost me $2,000 I would keep on walking or looking but I would not hire this so-called attorney not unless you definitely want to lose and lose you will with her!!!!!

Hired this attorney with hesitation but he promised he could save the world! I bought into his high pressures pitch noting I didn’t have $15,000 to litigate so my goal was to settle out of court. Throughout I kept asking for feedback on the process having never received any cc on emails to the opposing attorney which I’m used to getting. Leon would say, ‘oh I bumped into opposing attorney at court today...and they don’t want to settle.’ I’d ask about the fact we hadn’t even drafted any terms for settling so wouldn’t that be prudent to do? He acted like it was my fault I hadnt done that yet! Unreal. So we did this and I waited and waited and my ever received a letter to approve. He only said once again they won’t settle. Odd. No attorney letters again. Next thing I know he filed litigation and sent me a long list of discovery from opposing attorney on me but we are the ones suing them. I asked where’s the discovery for them. He showed me five questions! I had 5 pages!! I reiterated I did not want to litigate nor gob to court so he needed to settle. I refused to do discovery. He did nothing. A day before everything was due he contacted me telling me I was going to be in default if I didn’t turn in the papers. I was shocked that he had drug me into a litigation without my permission and with explicit direction to only work on a settlement so I fired him. A few weeks later I received a copy of a court hearing paper that he appeared before a judge recusing himself from my case because I would not follow his advice! In it he lied and said I had been notified of said hearing but I hadn’t. I would have crawled crippled to be there. I requested several times to get copies of all my paperwork and he hadn’t be worked my case at all. I contacted opposing attorney and settled it in one week. I wish I knew how to disbar this attorney for being so untruthful.

A very irresponsible lawyer, I would not recommend Leon at all. I had to correct him everytime with mistakes he made because he either did the opposite thing I told him or did it completely wrong, especially when he was filing for full custody for me and he made at least 9 mistakes. He obviously didn't listen and took notes. I shouldn't be correcting a lawyer when I didn't even go to school to be one I also shouldn't be correcting his grammar either. Also he said he would do something but he never did it at all. Especially when I was trying to get temporary custody and for 2 days straight he told me he would file but he never did at all. Leon is very untrustworthy and irresponsible and he is definitely not a lawyer to hire.

In my opinion Scott Dowdy is not as experienced as he claims to be. He showed no knowledge of the court process for the alcohol related charge my kid was facing. He instructed me to do things that were either unnecessary or just plain wrong. He instructed me to go above and beyond what the minimum was and in the end, i believe it hurt my kids case even more. He will argue against that, but he never let me talk to the prosecutor once. I cant be certain of anything she said. Mr Dowdy would like to argue that every case is different and no two punishments are the same. He repeated that numerous times during the consultation, along with "with my representation, she will still get punishment, but itll just be a different kind of punishment" Looking back, that may have been his disclaimer to justify his inadequacy as a criminal defense lawyer. I feel as if I would have been better off without him as an attorney. I would not hire him again. I caution anyone who is contemplating using his services to verify his claims of experience through court records.

I hired Craig Parish to handle my divorce and custody case. I paid his high retainer and it was gone in a couple days. I kept getting bill after bill. A 3 min phone conversation of him telling me he needed a copy of some paperwork billed at $75! Then before we went to to courts he said I should mediate with my ex-wife first. He basically told me to give her everything she asked for and told me that the judge would do the same thing. He said I had no way to stop her from moving my son 5 states away and that the visitation schedule was "fair". I have talked to different attorneys since then and they have all told me the same thing... "File a complaint with the courts and sue him for any future legal fees because the divorce agreement was so short term that I would be back in court 18 months later". I can't believe how ridiculous his advice and his "representation" was! I would give him 0 stars if I could but he gets 1 by default. If you are considering hiring this man I would give you this advice, DON'T! He was a better attorney for my ex-wife than for me!

Absolutely the most unprepared attorney I have ever worked with, Mr Davis appears time has passed him by, retained him for a divorce proceeding, 2 days before hearing called to make sure he would be in court, was totally unaware the hearing was in person, on day of hearing, wants to file motion, while we are sitting before the judge, had me sign motion 2 pgs that i didnt get chance to read, because he forgot to submit to court, legal tactics awful, secured new atty, have asked his office 4x for my file, never received, today follow up, court discloses Mr Davis never filed motion, Im screwed, also according to opposing attorney never let them know I was on vacation and not vacating the family home, spent more time flirting with my 25 yr old daughter,,,stay away he is awful, unprepared and unprofessional.

Won't give us a copy of our case file to see what he has done. We've been asking since July 2019. His assistant cant get anything right. Run away - hire anyone else. I am contacting Washington state bar association tomorrow and filing a complaint.

Mike was suggested through a company provided legal referral program. We had a case involving a incident with an animal. I would normally have gone through our regular attorney but given that my pay goes into the benefits at work I thought I would give it a chance. Mike is abrasive and egocentric, and has very little base (in my opinion) to back this stance up. I did more than I should have to collect and gather data for our case and he merely showed up to court. Though in his appearance there was no pretense of effort or alertness. At one point we met in his office which is a absolute disaster, and he couldn't find the information he had called us over for (which, by the look of his office was probably common). He casually handed us un-redacted court documents telling us that he "shouldn't" but did so anyway. I am no professional in this field but freely giving a individual information which includes the social of those they are up against doesn't seem like a wholly safe practice. Fortunately I am benign and would never forfeit my integrity to ambition. He also made a comment that the legal services don't "pay him enough money" for his effort. If that is the case it sounds like Mike should not involve himself in the referral process. The act of agreeing to provide a service for some compensation then not delivering calls your integrity into question. Eventually we lost the case and had to move the remainder of our dealings over to our normal attorney. Who did the job Mike could not. My suggestion would be to avoid Kulchak even if you are given a opportunity to have it at no cost to you. This was a lesson learned, abide others advice and heed an investment. You couldn't have paid me for his representation.

Brad Rigby did absolutely nothing for me. He did not listen to me, when told by my parents they believed i was having a mental breakdown he replied with " well thats not going to do any good" he showed up to court not even reviewing my case. Constantly confused my case with others. My mental health was confused with drug and alcohol addiction. After having a dx of PTSD mental breakdown medical documents were never provided to judge, brad was"not a shrink he said to me as o was sitting in jail with more additional charges . I feel He was not for my best interest. I had a clean criminal record, a college degree and i was treated unfairly.

I’m not the type of person who leaves bad online reviews, but I do believe this review is justified even if it prevents one person from being taken advantage of by Tracy Gorman. I made the grave mistake of hiring Tracy to represent me in the custody portion of my divorce. Trusting Tracy is one of the biggest regrets that I carry in life. Against my better judgment, and by Tracy’s recommendation I settled in mediation. I do not believe there is any way I could have done more poorly regarding fair access to my son. Preceding the settlement, Tracy could not have been more useless in regard to the challenges I faced. She was incredibly difficult to reach and atrociously slow in response. Every concern I expressed to her was met with the exact same deflective response followed by zero action. She misled me to the difficulty it would be to modify my custody order. It’s a year later, and I am still in the process of trying to clean up the absolute mess of a settlement Tracy allowed me to sign. Every attorney, or legal assistant who has read my divorce decree says that it’s absolutely criminal, she let me sign the agreement. After the divorce was finalized, I could not receive any sort of follow up response regarding specific questions to child support and timelines dictated in the decree. If you are a parent, specifically a father facing a challenging custody battle, please do not hire Tracy Gorman. You are better off representing yourself. Tracy please do family law the service of retiring.

Since I have been represented by Mr Andersen I believe that he has to many cases and doesn't do what he says he will do. He's nice and seems caring but that's not what I need. He is the only attorney in this town and quite frankly overwhelmed and exhausted. He needs to either retire or st Marie's needs more attorney's. It's unjust and unconstitutional and the judges here also need to do the same. It's unfortunate that this town has nothing better to do than to set decent people up so they can continue to get paid. Something needs to be done.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
