Very bad experience. If you see something wrong from the start get OUT. Don’t let your attorney bully you into staying. Don’t let them, or any family member tell you that “ someone else has resources “ or “ it will cost you more” or…..here’s the real klinker “ I’ve had so much respect and a friendship with your parents “. Don’t let guilt or someone telling you that you’re “ paranoid “ override your senses. Move on, get out. Get someone that actually represents you instead of their own pocket.

Lawyer fails to communicate or prepare for family law cases. Seems to be too focused on other things then providing clients with information they can use to make decisions. Fails to respond to questions if there is a response at all. Only when something is pertinent to her to know will she be better at communication and don't expect your questions to be answered if they are not on topic with what she wants. Be prepared to leave lots of messages on the phone.

Ms. Higgins represented us in a family law case. I cannot express our gratitude enough. She was always so honest with us about what was happening and what was to come. Emilee may have single handedly saved our family. Emilee always went out of her way to be in constant contact with us through every step of the case. Even when we were overly needy. Emilee went above and beyond the scope of attorney, she was true counsel. I would, and have, recommended Emilee to all my friends and family.

Gary and Doug are long seasoned attorneys with almost a century of experience between them, and they've always treated our company fairly, with integrity and sincerity. With that said, the one thing they won't do, is mess around and waste everyone's time. You'll simply get bold and insightful action that you can trust.

I can't speak for the entire law firm but I can speak towards Kelly Shattuck. This guy is a thief and an incompetent lawyer. Forgot my son's name in court and seemed never to really care. I had him for about 8 months and nothing at all changed in my child custody case. Mind you, I have been lied upon and slandered yet nothing has been proven faulty on my side, and still I don't have a relationship with my son. He was talking like a lawyer until he got the retainer. Had me hire a Dr. for $5k that the judge didn't take serious. A straight hustle. This guy beat me for my money and did absolutely nothing. Maybe it's because I'm Black, I don't know. But something isn't right with him. Don't hire this guy!!!You're a thief.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional legal representation provided by Chris and Will at Vacanti Shattuck. Their unwavering commitment to my case ensured that my son remained in the same state, a victory that seemed impossible at one point. In a regrettable moment of oversight, I had signed a parenting plan drafted by the opposing attorney without seeking my own legal counsel. This decision almost resulted in the heartbreaking prospect of limited access to my son. While another law firm in town suggested I give up and settle for summer visitations, Chris saw the situation differently. Recognizing a crucial technicality in the plan, he passionately advocated for us, leading to the plan being dismissed and a new, more favorable one being written. Chris not only demonstrated legal expertise but also displayed genuine compassion throughout the process. Despite the financial investment, the outcome was priceless – my son remains close, and I enjoy regular weekly visits. Chris worked diligently with me, making every penny spent feel worthwhile. If you find yourself navigating the challenging waters of a custody battle, I wholeheartedly recommend considering Vacanti Shattuck as your top choice for a consultation. Their dedication, expertise, and personal touch made a significant difference in securing the best outcome for my family.

Janelle never created a balance sheet for me or the mediator, that I know of. Janelle said she had 2 foot of paperwork, but when I observed it, she had only looked at a very few pages may be 30 pages. Janelle did not know what I wanted out of the divorce. When we went to mediation, Janelle told me I needed to agree with the mediator. she said I was a fool. She never said during mediation what I requested. Only 2 things were discussed during mediation.. the house and some land. Nothing else. Very many incorrect dollar amounts requarding the land. Jeanelle didn’t have a clue about this. Jeanelle was not prepared for mediation. She immediately filed court papers to assign a guardian for me after mediation. She never told me before she filed this. She never asked me for my assets I had before marriage. I needed winter clothing, I never got. I wanted some tools I never got. I wanted furniture - I never got. Thousands of dollars were removed from bank accounts and Jeanelle was not concerned about that. I asked her to subpoena bank records, she did not. I wanted some furniture, she tells me - wait till mediation . during mediation, she said I would not get any furniture only my personal belongings. I asked her how much money was withdrawn from accounts. She never got back to me. I would not recommend her.

Dale took my case on, expecting it to be fairly standard & straight forward. It turned out to be a 2 year long battle that we (he) prevailed! He worked tirelessly, researching other cases & gathering information. Dale was incredibly kind, professional & took great care to be sure I understood everything. I never felt alone or lost throughout a process that I certainly was unfamiliar in. My case was emotionally exhausting at times, and Dale was always there to reassure me & ease my fears. Over the course of the case, there wasn't one time in which I could not get in touch with him. He made himself available & was always flexible with my schedule. I was most impressed by Dale's litigation skills & his ability to think & act quickly in court. He was respectful, yet 'sharp tongued' when needed. It was obvious that he was/is well-respected. 100% of the time, I would recommend Dale Dahlin!

These people like to believe the cops’ words. This office hates it when people present evidence because all they have are cops’ words to fall back on. They got nothing else. If cops tell them the earth is flat they would believe it. Note: There is this one rude assistant guy in the office you absolutely want to avoid. So this rookie cop decided who was lying and wrote a ticket. How did she figured who was lying? She doesn’t know how to investigate a car accident. It was a guessing game. In conclusion, one female cop is getting away with writing a false citation for something she made up, one woman is getting away with giving false witness statements obstructing investigation when she wasn’t there to witness anything, and one guilty driver is getting away with a traffic infraction. Cops are writing fake tickets to meet their quotas. It’s funny how that female cop can write a nonsense bogus citation without proof ( she knows the court will probably believe her) and nobody questions her about it but the victim needs evidence to prove the citation is false. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. The rude guy in this office questioned my evidence but he won’t question the cop that had NO evidence to write the ticket to begin with.

The girl we got was EXTREMELY rude. I even said id get proof and she said “im still going to believe the cop” okay so guess equality dont matter at this place whatever a cop says goes! She also doesn't even know theres a law on how loud a car can be. She said theres no decible limit. If thats the case every car would be illegal then right? She didn’t bother listening for TWO seconds. We spoke to multiple people on the phone who said “oh he didn’t use a decible reader then we could probably drop it” then here she comes saying the cops word matters more. I said id buy a decible reader and they said over the phone that it wouldn’t be needed. Might try to give them another shot with a DIFFERENT attorney but until then they get one star from her attitude. I dont know her name but shes older brown hair and bangs with glasses. “ For vehicles that add or remove parts from their exhaust systems or mufflers to make it “louder,” the limit is 95 decibels.” my case isnt that bad loll and based off the other reviews id say steer clear

Don’t ever use Gregory Pivovar for anything he will do nothing but lie to you, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he is lazy and then makes up excuses why he was lazy, he will promise you everything you want to hear but won’t come through on one thing, and all he wants to do is makes deals on everything so he never has to go to court so he will lie to you to get you yo take the deal. Greg let me down by not doing his job a few years ago and I tried to give him another chance to redeem himself but he did it once again. Recently He lied to me telling me to take what I was offered for parenting time with my daughter because the judge will give me less than what I was being offered if I took it to trial and made up some false excuse why she would. He knew the most important thing to me was my daughter. I ended up catching him in that lie but it was after it was too late he once again didn’t do his job and let me down. I would have gotten more time than what I was being offered. Greg lied because he wasn’t ready for anything when he had over a year and a half to prepare. Do not use him for anything at all. Years back he had lost his right to practice law he deserves to lose his right once again. I would give negative stars if I could on this review.

Very bad experience. No communication from attorney- Jessica Feinstein and her staff, even though she knew the urgency of the case very well. My case got delayed and they did not care about filing my case on time. Do not recommend this firm for your urgent immigration need. This is a big firm and customer is just a number. Find an attorney, that will give your case personal attention and keep you informed all along the way. I will give this no star in review, if I can.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
