I have used Parman and Easterday for over 20 years. Jerry Shiles has always been excellent to work with, listening to our needs and updating my trust accordingly. He and the staff are so personable and always quick to help when I call with questions.

I hired this attorney to resolve my father's estate. He didnt listen. He charged me 500 for my initial consultation when he told me it was free. I gave him a 3500 retainer to give me information I already I'm knew. He didnt communicate with me at all and follow up with the other attorney. Overall he was just lazy and spent most of my retainer. All I asked was for him to help close the estate and have the executor be held accountable. He told me a bunch of excuses about his daughter having surgery and him being sick. He works for Parman and Easterday and he couldnt have his legal secretary call me back. He was condescending and charged me $300 hr. Do not hire this attorney he will RIP you off even though he seems like he will help he doesnt care.

I couldn't have asked and found anyone any better to represent me. Ms Todd explained it to me so I could understand the process. She is an awesome lady who made this as simple as possible for me. I would recommend her to anyone who asks. Nothing but praise for her. If you need a disability attorney, Aimee Todd is a rock star.

I found Jennifer and Stephanie over at Altitude Securities Law Office by way of a lucky connection on LinkedIn. Once in a while, great things happen by sheer coincidence and this was definitely one of those events. I could not have asked for a better team to provide me the patience, guidance and tireless support I needed to get my new RIA properly registered with my state. Their expertise and incredible attention to detail gave me added confidence in their ability to help me navigate this foreign and complex process. I can honestly say I could not have done it without them. They were always available, crystal clear on next steps, and I have to say that while I am VERY excited to have my RIA now approved, I will miss working with them. If you are thinking about forming your own RIA and you are looking for a team to get you to the approval “finish line” with confidence and legal validity, I would highly recommend you reach out to Jennifer and Stephanie. They have my full permission to put other advisors in touch with me if they want some referral feedback. I wish the team at Altitude Securities Law Office all the best and much continued success.

I contacted Harold after my now ex wife walked away from the marital residence and left our children with me. This divorce took 1 year and Harold became very personal with me and took the time to get to know me personally. He went above and beyond to protect my assets and listened to my fears and walked me through any and all questions I had regarding a divorce. Harold went above and beyond with everything he did especially with a high conflict divorce with 3 children involved. I would highly recommend Harold Thompson to anyone in need of a divorce lawyer. I know what people think, "Lawyers are lawyers". But I could literally reach Mr. Thompson any day of the week if it was important enough. He brought to the table a level of professionalism and more importantly, "Integrity", which is something of a pipe dream nowadays. Harold is honest and will tell you the harsh truth when It needs to be said to you. He knows when to push and when to back off. I respect him for that. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer to represent me in the courtroom and honestly consider him a friend now. He fought for me insanely hard and I couldn't have asked for more! God bless you Mr. Thompson.

My wife took my daughter and left me devastated. I called 7 different attorneys and 5 of them were just cold robots who only cared about telling me how much they cost and how little time I had to tell them about my case. At my lowest point while waiting for a call back, Attorney Harold Thompson called me. One of the reputable law firms I contacted were booked and so passed my information onto Harold. Harold Thompson consoled me first and made me feel as though he was sitting right next to me. He then listened to my case for as long as I needed him to and then told me he how he would fight for me as hard or as long as I needed him to. He did not try to nickle and dime me like the other attorneys and informed me of his FLAT rate and worked with me on payment options. His process to get things started was straight forward and to the point. He started working immediately and was more knowledgeable and more insightful than other attorneys. He professionally communicated with my wife and then back with me and was able to determine that divorce and a custody battle would be extreme at this point. Other attorneys would had just thought how they could keep money flowing into their pockets. Harold on the other hand recommended a less costly option. Communication had opened back up with me and my wife and my family is back together now thanks to Harold's involvement. Harold Thompson is not just a wonderful attorney but a caring and understanding person who is devoted to helping people and not destroying families.

Totally recommend Harold for any child custody case. He is very helpful and very respectful. Child custody is a very sensitive topic but he was able to provide all the information I needed in order to have the case resolved. He goes that extra mile to get you what you need/deserve. Thank you for your honesty and your services

He helped my husband and myself out several times. Took a look at our case and told us which why he recommended us to handle our situation and prevent us for loosing any of our assets that we worked so hard for. We did a chapter 7 bankruptcy and also a chapter 13. He is very trustworthy and attentive and I recommend him to anyone!!!

Greg Denney represented me in an auto accident where a truck side swiped my vehicle causing me to get pushed off the road where I struck a tree head on and the person responsible kept driving. Greg Denney was the best attorney I have ever had. He genuinely cared and made me feel like family not just a client and a pay day. He was swift dealing with the insurance companies and I received more than I ever expected to get. I also had the privilege of being in court on an unrelated matter and got to see him representing one of his clients in a criminal case and I almost felt sorry for the prosecutor cause Greg chewed him up and spit him out and got the case dismissed effortlessly. He is super sharp with the laws and definitely who you want representing you and your family

This is the worst experience I ever had hiring a lawyer. I reached out to Davis Business Law in need of service acquiring a small business. They were very sweet and nice till I paid the retainer fee of $1800 which they said would be approximate cost for their service during the Due Diligence period. Please beware they need this amount to be paid in advance. As soon as I paid the fees their attitude changed completely. I had no longer access to the lawyer (Noelle Moorad) that was assigned to me. Every time I called in with a query I was told by the assistant that the lawyer was too busy to talk to me and was asked to send an e-mail instead. The assistant herself was so rude on the phone that I asked to have my money back and as soon as I sent mail asking for the refund, the lawyer called me within 5 minutes to apologize and promised they will do better. However, it was the same story from the very next day. I needed a Letter of Intent to be prepared for the Business Purchase. I provided the draft and asked her to change "Asking price" and few other minor details. All in all she edited one paragraph of 4 lines which was dictated by me and they charged me for 2 hours billing at $395/hour for editing a two page document and emailing it. The lawyer did not even read the document diligently because it had errors which I had to point out. The Lawyer provided no help negotiating with the seller or any other legal guidance whatsoever. Also it seemed like she had little experience acquiring a small business as she was asking why I, as a buyer, needed to make the earnest deposit which is a regular process in any Small Business Acquisition I was purchasing a Grocery Store with a gas station. And when the fuel supplier was aggressively pushing himself into the deal by inserting his clauses into the LOI. The lawyer asked me to go through the clauses and deal with it because she was too busy to work on it. This was on Friday and next Monday I get a mail from a new assistant asking if I want to move forward with the purchase. I said yes and they sent me another bill for $800 to retain their service. They said the $1800 I paid were exhausted in preparing the LOI and replying to the emails. I declined to pay extra $800 as I did not see the service they provided to me so far worth $1800. When I sent an email saying this and describing my experience I received email from the COO (Robert Applegate) saying that he will call me the next day to go over the issue. Next day on the phone I talked to the COO and told him about my experience to which his answer was that he does not see anything wrong from their end and it was my mistake that I agreed to pay $395/hour. I will now have to hire another lawyer to help me through the due diligence period.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.

Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:

  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
