I had one of the darkest times of my entire life. I felt scared, overwhelmed, and alone, but then I found Paul Kelley. My only light. My friend recommended him. I hired him to represent my boyfriend on a criminal charge and he took into consideration how important the outcome of this case was. And he did exactly what we needed him to do. I couldn’t recommend Paul enough. And by the way his communication. The way he was always there for me no matter when I had a question, Paul was there. We were faced with losing everything that my mother and father had worked for their entire lives because my mother had a stroke. People always hear of all the horrors of not being prepared for the possibility of sudden illness or incapacitation brought on by any medical procedure or health problem. Well I can say that everyone should find a reputable Attorney, like Jason McMahon, and get your affairs in order before those horror stories take you and your family down in a heartbeat. There are so many rules and regulations as well as "Loopholes" involved in getting your family member accepted for Medicaid that nobody, except an Attorney, can possibly know, discover or understand. If you wait until an emergency occurs, you will be in the same boat we were in and without a paddle as well. I was very fortunate in finding an honest, hard working, concerned, dedicated, knowledgeable, etc., etc., Attorney in Jason McMahon. I can honestly say that I have never had such fine fortune in my life before, so I am very thankful. It is very true that an Attorney is expensive, but when you consider their fee against what you have to lose, an honest Attorney like Mister McMahon will earn every penny you have to pay out. Mr McMahon's fees are actually a bargain when compared to other Attorneys as well anyway. All this said, if (when) we ever need another Attorney, we will definitely be calling on Jason McMahon first. He has definitely felt like a very great friend on our side for the entire process of getting my mother accepted for Medicaid. Thank You Jason, from the bottom of our hearts for an exceptionally well done task.

The words in the review title that I used all describe Jason very well. I first met Jason as a result of a friend's recommendation. My friend lives in Thailand and needed someone that he could trust to handle his father's affairs regarding nursing home care, medicaid, and estate matters. At that time, I was caring for my elderly Uncle's affairs while he was in a nursing home. I needed advice on how to proceed with Medicaid and all of my other Uncle's needs. Upon my first meeting with Jason, I took and immediate liking to this man. He is a very personable, compassionate, knowledgeable and caring individual who one can trust implicitly to do what is best for his clients. I have absolutely no regret at all in retaining Jason to represent my Uncle. He did a wonderful job and met our needs well. He followed through with everything and everyone and represented my Uncle with nursing home authorities, medicaid, probate etc. He always returned calls and emails promptly if I couldn't reach him directly. After working with Jason for almost a year on my Uncle's estate needs, I can say that we have developed more than just a client/attorney relationship. I consider Jason a true friend and know that I can count on him in the future should I need his assistance. I have recommended Jason to my sister-in-law who needed help with her mother and Medicaid and to a friend who needed help with a Will and Advanced Directives. Everyone that took my recommendations for Jason, have had nothing but good things to report back and are highly satisfied with his expertise. I was a previous client of Elisa Staats & even though it’s been 8 or 9 years, I just wanted to share some positivity and say that we still are so grateful for her hard work, determination, and persistence!!
We live in another state and she helped us get custody of my husbands son who was living in Ohio in a terrible living situation with his other parent. Thanks to Mrs. Statts persistently jumping the courts hurdles and ICPC hoops, never giving up or backing down, we did get custody & my stepson got to live out the rest of his childhood with us where he has absolutely thrived. Situation: My son lives in Columbus, & his minor son lives in Akron. My son got notice his son was in a bad situation with his mother, & he had to fight the maternal grandmother for custody. To be honest, I came about Ms. Staats phone number desperately trying to find a lawyer for my son on just a few days’ notice. We weren't local, and Ms. Staats was the ONLY lawyer not only to answer the phone herself, but to take the time and talk over the situation with me, AND agreed to be in court in just 3 days’ notice! Wow! She really came to bat for my son. While the other lawyer resorted to "Jerry Springer" type tactics in the court room, Ms. Staats countered every low blow statement and ridiculous motions with a professional attitude coupled with a mother tiger's ferociousness in protecting my son & his rights, and his son's best interest. Even the mother to my grandson said "I don't know where you found that lawyer, but WOW! She wouldn't let mom's lawyer get away with anything. She's impressive!"
Elisa was responsive to emails and calls when her scheduled allowed, and always got back with us. It took 10 LONG months for my son to get custody, several hearings, pretrials and motions, but really, we got every pennies’ worth of professional representation from Ms. Staats and her advice to follow during that time. When it came down to trial, she brought with her TWO of the biggest organized binders of categorized evidence and information, questions for witnesses etc.. And was VERY prepared to go to trial. Our family, & our son was extremely impressed at the detail of her work. We thank heavens that Elisa Staats was that one lawyer who answered my desperate call for help that day. Now my son has his son living with him again & they both are so very very happy!! (And so are we!) We feel Ms. Staats was overly fair in her cost, & she was always upfront on any fees or potential future fees/costs that could happen. We also feel that she did NOT "nickle and dime us" on everything, we got more than our money's worth hiring her to represent our son and his son's best interest. Elisa Staats was our angel for my son's case. Our family cannot say enough awesome things on Elisa's behalf. We were blessed to find her.

Emily represented me, a GC, on my first surrogacy journey. I was nervous for the legal stage, as I had read so many horror stories from GCs about contracts not being written well and their legal representation missing things that really should’ve been changed. Emily is the best Ohio surrogacy lawyer one could ask for - smart, experienced, thorough, and responsive. Due to COVID, we never met with Emily in person but did video chats and email and it worked really well for us as we are in OH but not in Akron. We were intended parents and having her on our team was paramount. I retained Brian after a previous general practice lawyer had destroyed my case with improper/poorly timed filings and insufficient pleadings. The last thing I wanted to do was switch lawyers in the middle of a case but I had no choice, I had no trust/faith. Brian Skidmore was able to flip my case around and get me to an end result that I was happy to live with. Mr. McNeil was very professional with his job and made us feel so at ease. Any questions I had he had the answers. If he was unavailable he would contact me promptly. Michelle is my divorce attorney. She understands my needs and concerns and is very diligent when it comes to taking care of things when I need her to. She is kind, productive, and gets results. But she is also a "I will take no nonsense" kind of attorney, and I definitely need someone like that when it comes to my ex-husband. My ex-husband and I have a very small child, and Michelle also considers my sons needs as well as mine. Don malarcik jr. Has worked incredibly hard on my case. With it still pending I can't get into details but he is worth every penny and then some. He knows the ins and outs of law like no one I've ever seen. He's a gentleman and a scholar in the courtroom but it is very clear to see the other attorneys admire and respect him when he walks in the room. He approaches the case like a chess genius moving 10 moves ahead and out thinking everyone around him. I hope after this case I never have to use them again but he definitely will be on retainer because I can't think of another person I'd rather have walk me through the legal process. Not only does he teach trial School in Wyoming but he's six and oh at getting folks off of the death penalty. His views from what I understand that even though someone may be guilty and they deserve to spend their life in prison we as human beings do not have the power to dictate who lives and dies. They will be judged by God and properly sentenced per God's decision.

Julie is an amazing attorney. Harvey was a life saver! I found him using Avvo and consulted with him regarding moving a child support case from MD to OH. He was responsive, and provided great advice! When an emergency happened with my kids, he called me back right away, listened to what I had to say and provided a list of attorney's that could help immediately, since he was busy for the emergency hearing. I would hire him in an instant if the situation were changed just a little bit!
