Arrogant and rather stupid. Loves to denigrate other attorneys when he is the one who should keep his mouth shut. Run away like another poster said. Loves to spend your money but do little. All about the money.

Absolutely incompetent in my case. Had to fire him for poor representation and poor communication. He actually delegated me to his assistant who was even worse and chit chatted with opposing counsel and the hearing official and joked during a hearing. Disgusting display of unprofessionalism.

I was extremely disappointed in his representation!! Although he constantly told me “no big deal - don’t worry “ I was decimated by the opposing attorney!! He didn’t fight for anything and caved on literally every demand from opposing counsel! He took days to return calls and kept me in the dark all the time! Do yourself a favor and hire another attorney- he is not the quality divorce attorney that his father was!!!!

She will not respond for long periods of time and always has excuses. She doesn't respond to emails. I would never recommend hiring her. It was the worst experience.

I met with Amy to finalize my divorce. She was my lawyer of record on the case as she had filed my divorce originally. We talked for an hour and had a game plan with action items and then she ghosted me. I tried to contact her multiple times with no replies. Find a different lawyer that will care about helping you because Amy is not that person.

We hired Demetrios Tsarouhis to help us collect a debt owed to us as the result of a civil judgment against a local contractor. As clients of Mr. Tsarouhis, we found that although work was done, it was not done in a timely fashion. It took 1 1/2 years for a small amount of work to get done by Mr. Tsarouhis. The outcome was unsuccessful for us, no money was collected. This attorney's communication & follow-ups were poor. Phone calls & emails went unanswered by him for days, sometimes weeks at a time. Multiple attempts would be made to get a response from him. Many times we couldn't leave messages for him because his inbox was full & nobody answered the phone at his office. A hearing even occurred and we were never notified of the time or place. To date, we have not received any details from the hearing. We basically gave up pursuing this case. We have worked with other attorneys and we were not put on the back burner like we were with Attorney Tsarouhis.

Mr. Tsarouhis is very knowledgeable & personable. His areas are commercial and bankruptcy. We utilized him for commercial work within the past five years. The results were unsatisfactory. He was not aggressive. He failed to report on a monthly basis, he failed to bill on a regular basis, and he failed to provide any status reports at all. When we had referring counsel ask to look at the file, he was evasive and dilatory. While he is professional, his work is not up the standards of the bankruptcy bar of the Eastern District of PA generally. His email gets full many times and one cannot leave messages. He often takes several days to return calls to the client, or to return replies to emails. He is sometimes not forthright when he has not done work that was requested. He is very nice but his support behind him is poor, his followup is poor, and he does not really grasp the concept that with clients, we need calls returned within 24 hours and service and emails very promptly. It's hard to characterize him as very hard working. In general, his work is not up to the levels of a Maurice Mitts, a Mike Reed or any of the other well-known BK lawyers in the E.D. of PA,and in some respects may fall below the level of competence of the average BK atty.

Grossi tried to paint me as the exact same libel, defamation, and slander as my ex was blaming me for while being paid to supposedly be my attorney and not a second one for the plaintiff. After she went in one day without me blaming me for being too mentally unstable to represent, trying to throw my case on purpose I had in 7 days thinking this would work, I won without her in 4 minutes.

Prior to hiring Ms. Grossi, I made sure that she would be up to finishing my case prior to leaving on maternity leave, as it was an easy open/shut divorce that my ex and I had already settled on the details. She promised that it would be done long before she was due. Directly due to her law firm and lack of follow through on my case, everything was still completely unfinished when she returned from maternity leave, over 6 months later! She did not respond promptly to myself or the opposing attorney for months and lied about it. While on maternity leave her associate covered for her. During an in house meeting with opposing council she left the meeting for over an hour. When I finally found her, she was in her office tending to other cases and had forgotten about us. Ms. Grossi also refused to fix billing that was egregiously incorrect. There was a complete lack of professionalism and honesty.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
