Working with Shirl was great! From the very start he told me not to let my case cause too much stress. He said he’d take care and of it and he did! I didn’t have to do anything besides show up for my court date! Shirl was able to get me a very favorable result!

We used Shirl and his team for our adoption and they did an amazing job! We adopted out of Louisiana and the attorney on that end was delaying things and Shirl and Nesha jumped in to help get everything needed in a timely manner! Once we were back in Utah it was an easy process and the support received was so great!! We’re so glad we had a good attorney to work our adoption case here!

I found myself needing an attorney for a divorce that wasn’t my fault. Luckily, I found Shirl with LeBaron Law. He skillfully guided me thru an awful time in my life, he was much more than just a highly skilled attorney, he and his office staff treated me like family. If you need an attorney to help you save whats left of your life so you can move forward, i highly recommend LeBaron Law

Weber Law was helpful in resolving a down payment issue I had with a roofing company. The 2 attorneys I worked along with were thorough and acted quickly to have my money returned to me which the company originally refused to give back. I would highly recommend Weber Law to anyone that is in need of resolving and issue they may have with small or large businesses

In general I would not recommend this firm because they seem to be the typical law firm that tries to take advantage of billing situations however they can. I was referred to them from a network and they were supposed to apply a 25% discount but never did. To me that just shows how unethical they are in not honoring it so who knows how ethical they are in everything else they do. That being said I hired them to review a contract for me and they fulfilled the work sufficiently. I didn't have any complaints with their actual work (hence 2 stars instead of 1 star review).

Darin is an excellent, knowledgeable and compassionate attorney. He helped me survive an 18 month divorce process from 2015-2016 and is still just a phone call or email away as needed. I refer him to others often and still benefit from his professionalism. He is professional, committed, genuine and realistic. He will tell you what he can or can’t do and he will give referrals as needed to help you make the best decisions. Highly recommend!

Lance Starr was my attorney in 2012 to 2019 he fought so much for me he represented me in a cancellation of removal. He appear personally in each court hearing and worked with my local attorney to release me from custody and fight my case. He made possible for me to be released from jail and continue the fight from outside. In the long process he was able to support my case in making the immigration Judge see the hardship my deportation will cause to my family. In the end I was deported and I had a different attorney fight my appeal with BIA. In the end because Lance C Start was able to prove the hardship, my new attorney was amazed of Lance and my case was remanded to the immigration court again. This time the immigration judge granted me the reliefs and Permanent Residency. The fight is over and I am forever grateful to Lance. He was the master and maker of immigration fight. His team and everyone that was on my side. Thank you and you want this team on your side. LANCE WE DID IT!! Thank you!! ☺️ Forever grateful to Lance and his team.

This company truly is so awful. They sent out two statements (one for each account they had for me) two years ago to the wrong address, which I have proof of not living there. I was told they never got a return to sender, right after she admitted they do look like junk mail so someone could have thrown it away. They said they have called me, but rarely do I answer random phone numbers (She did say I answered in June and hung up which probably was true because once again, I don't talk with random numbers and they have left ZERO voicemails). They said they do what is legally required, but to me it feels like they do the bare minimum so they can get as much money from you as possible. They showed up to my house on Saturday night at 8pm and then said I had until Friday of the next week to figure things out. I later found out they could have pushed that date to Monday and didn't (Thanks so much Danielle). So many of the agents are completely unwilling to give you any other options unless you come to those conclusions yourself. Multiple times I asked what my options were and they essentially said "not much" but then I made a suggestion and they said "Well yeah you could do that". Seems like this company likes to give their agents as little knowledge as possible so that people give up and just pay everything. I ended up doing more research myself and I'm in the process of getting one of those accounts with them cancelled. I would like to make a public apology to Heidi, Luis? maybe Erika? I don't remember everyone I talked to and everyone that I got stressed out at, but I know for a fact that those people had to deal with my frustrations the most. I was just extremely stressed out, confused, and it felt like I was receiving such little information about everything. I am giving them two starts because I do feel like their agents handled my frustrations (slight rage) rather professionally, but the company as a whole is just weird and scammy.

First of all, I've dealt with collections before, they always tell you who they are, and who they're calling from. These guys? No. They just keep asking for your name, which sounds like a scam call. Then, they jack up your owed amount. I got served, for a total of 606 dollars, I can even provide pictures. Now it's 695 as of 10/9/2024. You send unmarked mail (and don't give me that vs of protecting privacy, others show their company name on the envelope, I'll even grab pictures of that to prove it) so you just think it's junk mail. The voicemail sounds like a robot so you assume scam. These people prose themselves on ruining lives to make scam doctors with EPIC richer. You have to be a new sort of low to work for these guys. I even noticed on my summons you couldn't get the hospital right. I tried to call your legal guy, Quinn, and of course, during business hours, he's not there. How convenient is that? I'm going to talk to an attorney on Monday, see what I can do, before you guys jack my bill up to $800.

Bills can be stressful I know which is why I write this review. I spoke with Luis who helped me with my bill payment set up and did a fantastic job with his costumer service!! I won’t lie the beginning of the call I was not the most pleasant as to trying to figure out a plan for my situation, but Luis handled it very professionally and helped me figure out a solution to my bill! Luis if you read this I thank you so much and deeply appreciate your help. I’m not sure what your pay is like BUT SOMEONE GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE!!

This firm said they would represent me in my SSI/SSDI case. Never having been through this before I really had no idea what my role was and what to do. The firm never made it clear that I was to get all the records and send them on to the firm. I was under the misconception it was their responsibility and since it wasn't discussed or put clearly in writing I didn't catch on to what exactly I was to do. They dropped my case after representing me for about three months, but never specifically told me why they dropped the case. I felt my interests were not protected by them They lacked personalized attention and care to me as a client. It would seem that a firm that specializes in disability cases would note that the clients are not always able to multi task, read between the lines and have the confidence or organizational skills necessary to prepare their own cases without their help and input.

I hired Taylor Harley and paid $9,000 upfront, but I feel I was ripped off. On the day of the review of my discovery, he rescheduled the appointment. When the new day arrived, his assistant Hennie called me and transferred me to Taylor, who then claimed he couldn't discuss the case at that moment. He never sent me my discovery materials and merely stated that the evidence was weak. He pressured me into accepting unfavorable deals. Later, when I requested my discovery documents, his assistant sent me only some of them and withheld others. I also requested a partial refund, which was never returned. Taylor showed little interest in additional evidence I provided and made a remark suggesting he hoped not to see me in court again. I consulted other lawyers who informed me that my case was poorly handled. I strongly advise against hiring this firm, as my experience has been deeply disappointing.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
