While on vacation in Boston, I was falsely accused of a serious crime, arrested, and faced with felony charges. After spending the night in jail, I was assigned a public defender who was entirely unfamiliar with my case. Unfortunately, not only was this public defender incompetent, but he also lacked the appropriate credentials to handle a case of such seriousness. I was facing a minimum of five years in prison, and my bail was set at $60,000. The public defender made no effort to fight for me. He didn't attempt to have my bail reduced or identify any weaknesses in the case against me. Instead, he simply agreed with the prosecutor and judge, and I was sent back to jail. After three nights in jail, my family informed me that they had hired a criminal defense attorney named Paul Moraski, who would be visiting me in a couple of days. True to their word, Paul arrived at the jail two days later. I was escorted by a correctional officer to meet him. From the moment we met, I knew Paul was the right lawyer for me. He had an incredible personality, was highly educated and knowledgeable, and held himself to a very high standard. For the first time, I felt hopeful again. The first thing Paul said to me was, "We’re going to beat this case." He then assured me, "I am going to get your bail reduced from $60,000 to $30,000 so you can go home." Paul not only understood my case thoroughly but also knew the courtroom inside and out, thanks to his 14+ years of experience. Two days later, I had another court appearance, and Paul was outstanding. He successfully persuaded the judge to lower my bail from $60,000 to $30,000, allowing my family to secure my release. The night I was bailed out, Paul immediately called to congratulate me on going home. He reassured me once again, saying, "There are numerous holes in your case, and you have nothing to worry about." Despite Paul's reassurances, I remained anxious about my case after returning home and would call him weekly. Each time, Paul answered the phone, and if he was in court, he would return my call immediately afterward. Paul is an exceptional attorney, though not inexpensive. However, he provided me with a very reasonable rate given the severity of my case. He also offered me a monthly payment plan, which greatly eased the financial burden. When it comes to fighting for your freedom, no price is too high. Paul Moraski was worth every dollar. Six months later, just as Paul had predicted from the start, my case was completely dismissed. If you find yourself facing legal issues in the Boston area, I highly recommend contacting and hiring Paul Moraski. He is not only an outstanding defense attorney but also a remarkable person. I feel like I not only hired a lawyer but also gained a friend. Thank you for everything, Paul. Ray Ray

I called Paul blindly after finding his firm on google. He spent an ample amount of time with me, asked detailed questions about my situation, and gave me suggestions that ended up paying off in a big way. I spoke with 5 or 6 lawyers, and he was by far the best. He's a straight shooter and he's moral, which seems rare these days. Any time a friend runs into a labor issue, I'll give him/her Paul's name.

When I was looking for a lawyer I called many people. Matthew was the first lawyer who responded with a solid action plan, was straightforward with his hourly rate, and made me feel confident about my case. Ultimately I was able to achieve my desired outcome by engaging Matthew. One piece of constructive feedback I would add is that he seems like a busy guy and my case didn't always feel like top priority. When I had his focus, I thought he was a sharp and effective lawyer.

Ryan Cunningham became my Real Estate attorney for the sale of my house only four months ago. My son introduced me to Ryan as a friend who could give me advice. As a recent widow, I made the decision to sell the house my husband and I built together 30 years ago. Selling my house was a daunting process for me alone. Ryan helped me with his outstanding knowledge and expertise. Because Ryan provided such prompt feedback, without hesitation, I asked him to represent me in the sale of my house. I, also asked Ryan to represent me in the purchase of a condominium where I could move upon the sale of my house. The entire selling and buying processes were confusing. Ryan was always available to explain documents that needed to be signed. Ryan communicated with me via text, phone, and email on a frequent basis for my house sale and my condominium purchase. Even when my questions were repetitive, Ryan readily gave me clear explanations. I highly recommend Ryan Cunningham for any Real Estate transactions.

Adrienne was great to work with! She was prompt, knowledgeable, and super helpful. My green card application has been "pending" for multiple years and there were plans to go on a family vacation. However, it had been so long that even my extension had expired as well. My partner and I met with Adrienne for the hour consultation. She convinced me while this application was being considered applying for citizenship might be worth it, so I could vote, and additionally not have to deal with these travel logistics in the future. I had spent weeks and months trying to get a call to get an appointment and nothing was happening and I was getting extremely frustrated. It was coming down to the wire, and I required an ADIT stamp in my passport to travel. I went into the office, chatting with someone on the US Immigration website, called - all to no avail. Adrienne was able to call the office and get the name of the supervisor on duty. She called and let me know if I could go down to the immigration office that day and ask for Officer ____ (I don't remember his name), I could get a stamp and be on my way. Sure enough we went in, asked for the supervisor and he took us back. It took a total of 5 minutes, he took my expired card, put in a stamp in my passport and I was good to go. If it wasn't for Adrienne I never would have been able to go on my family vacation. She was as sincere as she was helpful. Thanks, Adrienne!

Communicative, empathetic, persistent and professional My mother passed away, predeceased by my father. The estate executor was not fulfilling their responsibilities, after over five years. I offered my assistance to the executor and was repeatedly rebuffed. After consulting with several friends, who are attorneys specializing in other areas of law, I was urged to hire an attorney who specializes in family law. I immediately thought of Chris Casey, who I have known for many years. We are both members of the Salem Rotary Club. After meeting with Chris, and his associates, I knew I was in the right place. I immediately felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I was assured they had handled many cases like this before and would be able to help me. They demonstrated great empathy throughout the process, which helped me get through this difficult time. I was apprised of the ongoing legal action through constant communication via email and phone. The executor continued to be very uncooperative, but my attorneys were persistent. We were forced to go to trial. There were seven pretrial hearings and eventually, due to the uncooperative executor, a trial was needed. During the trial, my attorneys were amazing. The executor and their attorney were left speechless. The judge ruled in my favor on every contested issue. They handled my case with professionalism and achieved an outstanding result. They did such a great job, that I hired them to help me with another family issue concerning a property in Florida. This is an outstanding law firm. Do not hesitate to hire them for your case.

On a construction site in Massachusetts, I was injured 5 years ago due to obvious contractor's negligence of implementing full protection and safety measures. Doctors recommended rest and provided short term medication, that were adequate for coverage by the insurance. Knee pains remained and resulted in knee procedure first, and several months after in a bone spur surgery to one leg. Colleagues and staff of my client-owner of the project, seeing my physical deterioration and knowing the facts of the accident from me, advised that I need to consult with an attorney. I did indeed consult with Attorney Whitman and worked the details of my case with Attorney Dan Munnelly. They agreed to take on my case after our first meeting. The case took 3 years of litigation that ended fairly by a mediation. Attorneys Whitman and Munnelly, researched profoundly the case and documented all details from our conversation and particularly from their own research. Always responsive, my attorneys Steve and Dan, were excellent communicators with me, always digging deeper and deeper, then consulted with other attorneys to build up a strong case. I am grateful for their attention and great work. I strongly recommend them to others.

Ray Ray

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:

  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.

For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
