When my parents first hired Attorney Tricia Shumaker to prepare their estate plan, they had no idea they were running out of time and on the precipice of needing far more than estate planning. Within a few weeks of working with Tricia, unexpectantly, my father became gravely ill. Fortunately, they picked the right attorney! Tricia came to the house for the convenience of my 90+ year old parents. She patiently and compassionately listened to my parents’ wishes, asking questions, attending to all the details, and making sure that she fully understood my parents’ goals and that they understood her role. She explained to my parents all the financial issues they were faced with and provided prudent guidance through these complicated decisions. Tricia and her team went into immediate action, creating all legal documents, including wills, power of attorneys, health care proxies, trust and all the legal work behind these documents, all completed in record time. Goal accomplished! Tricia’s command of Elder Law, Estate Planning and the Massachusetts legal and Medicaid health systems is second to none. Then, when my mother could no longer remain at home alone, Tricia worked her magic again, successfully navigating the Massachusetts legal and medical systems with huge success. Throughout the entire complex process, Tricia explained each detail/nuance, of which there were many, making sure I fully understood each step. After attending seminars for quite awhile, I decided, over 4 years ago, to shop for an Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorney. A friend recommended Attorney Shumaker. When I called her, she offered me a free consultation. The moment I met her, I was struck by her knowledge and also her kindness and patience. I knew she was the attorney that I should chose to help me navigate the world of estate planning and guide me through many difficult decisions. Marc was there for my family in the darkest time in our life. Tragedy struck our family suddenly after a minor hospital procedure ended in the loss of my husband's life. Marc came highly recommended by a colleague and now I know why. From the very beginning the advice he gave me was instrumental in the successful outcome. Marc Breakstone provided more comfort and a peace of mind than I could have ever imagined. A little over a year ago, I was in a very serious taxi accident as a passenger- and almost 5 months pregnant. I was petrified for the health of my baby. I was completely overwhelmed with having to undergo a spinal fusion because my back was broken over several L sections. And I had an 11 month old at home that I could no longer take care of on my own. We had literally just bought a house 5 months before, and that accident literally caused my family's world to crumble. And if you are in a similar boat, you can relate- I have never felt so helpless and depressed, I needed to find a lawyer ASAP that I could trust with the well being and future security of my family. I was literally boggled of where to begin, as I have never been involved in a law suit before. And insurance contracts/ lingo/ etc was just so foreign to me. I found 4 lawyers total that I read reviews on from the internet OR was recommended by family friends. I found Marc on some Google search- and that made me a tad nervous because I am a little more "old school" than that. However, I called his office and after speaking to him directly ( which was literally about 5 min after I called, he returned my message )....I instantly felt at ease with him. There is something about his personality that is very direct, yet patient with explaining options/ the law/ advice. Marc was also willing to talk to my husband and a family friend who has legal background from another state trying to help me. So, I conservatively met with him and 3 other lawyers in person, and Marc was the only one I felt was both "down to earth" and at the same time extremely aggressive/passionate when it came to ensuring that my claim was heard properly by the parties concerned. We chose Marc to represent me, and I am SO HAPPY we did. Let me tell you this- If you want somebody that is approachable- choose Marc. If you want someone who will fight for you like he has known you for your whole life, choose Marc. And if you understand that you need someone who is that bit aggressive/confident in making his point, on your behalf, choose Marc. My husband felt that Marc would be a "lion in the ring " for us. Also, I want to add that I live in NYC...I was hit in MA during a weekend away. So I was nervous having the distance away from someone who is representing me. If by chance that is you- dont worry about it. Marc is literally so accessible. I also dont feel like I could write this review without mentioning- Christine Roberts. Marc's executive assistant is a rock star. She reflects his standards of extreme professionalism with a streak of warmth. I could keep writing about all the positive experiences I had along the way with Marc, but I will sum it up this way. A very hormonal pregnant woman, with a baby at home, was hit by a taxi and had to undergo a 7 hour spinal fusion surgery, learn how to walk again, and deal with the pain of the accident/surgery thoughout her pregnancy while accepting the fact she could no longer lift her one year old at home, bathe him, clean up after him etc. ** I am writing this review about one year from the accident and post settlement. I am still so incredibly emotional about that night and everything that happened....But I am still a bit proud that during this complete disaster and at times, what I honestly thought was depression and a breakdown mentally, I was still able to see that Marc would fight for me. And he did. And he will for you. He is just so passionate about his job...and you will come to see glimpses of his personal life that you know this is just a good guy. I look at my daughter now and I thank god for my neuro team, my OB team, and my lawyer. While my doctors really provided such wonderful physical care...Marc was really there as a rock- I let put all my anxiety on his shoulders and he delivered back a secure future. He will forever be part of our family story now.

I hired Marc after another lawyer wasn't really spending the time or attention to my case that I felt comfortable with. When I spoke to Marc the very first time on the phone, I thought, "This guy is tough and attentive!" From our first conversation until the successful outcome of my mediations and settlement, I could not have asked for better, more thorough, and tough representation. I hired Jonathan when my Disability benefits were cut off. He reviewed my case and knew exactly what to do. He outlined what needed to be done and was always two steps a head of the insurance company. My benefits were reinstated within 90 days and still today he always has my back. Do yourself a favor and work with Rachel. I recently obtained US citizenship, and Rachel has been so helpful all along the way. Besides being a delight to work with, she is brilliant and highly knowledgeable about immigration laws and system. I was impressed to see my citizenship application filed in only two days after sending all the information and files needed for the application. One of the other benefits of working with Rachel is her expertise across different domains besides immigration law, which is very useful in making sure your application is prepared properly and that you receive the best counsel. Another impressive part was how well she prepared me for the citizenship interview. She was extremely detailed with her guidance, and everything she said would be covered was covered exactly in the order she said it would be covered. Of course, you’ll still need to do your part and prepare your documents right for her to submit in your application, study for the Civics test, etc., but working with Rachel gives true peace of mind and top-notch counsel. I was lucky that on the day of my interview, I was able to get sworn in as a citizen in the same building. Rachel walked with me to the swearing-in ceremony and even took a picture with the US flag as I became a citizen. A memory to last a lifetime. I highly recommend Rachel.

Rachel represented us in a criminal case that extended over 5 1/2 years. During this time the prosecution was disinterested in examining the facts or dropping the case that was rife with dubious and conflicting testimony. Rachel took the time to peel the layers back exposing the predisposed rush to judgement. Her skill as a lawyer and empathy as a person allowed us to dismantle the web of accusations and expose them as false. It was an especially trying case for ourselves and Rachel. I contacted him regarding my employment case. I found him very smart with an excellent memory. He will fight for you. He evaluated my case and accepted. I went for a trip and he had a second thought about my case. Then he advised me to find a lawyer for other possible claims too. I contacted a couple of lawyers. Ultimately, the other lawyer followed the same strategy. If he accepts your case, sign the contract the same day. He is a great fighter.

Ilir is such a wonderful and accomplished lawyer, that I have no words to describe. He took our case which was in limbo for 8 years when no other attorney would. I broke my ankle in December of 2013 eleven months after having knee replacement surgery. It was, fortunately, the other leg, but it was a bad break, in 2 areas, requiring surgery, hospitalization and a long recovery (14 weeks non weight bearing). It was awful, but the shining light in the whole ordeal was my lawyer, Ron Gluck who took care of everything from start to finish. It was clearly a case where the fault was the restaurant's where I had fallen. Ron negotiated with their insurance company on my behalf and I believe got the very best settlement for me without ever losing or compromising his integrity or mine. I felt like I was in excellent hands from the very beginning of the ordeal. It never went to court as Ron was determined to have the right thing happen in a timely way and not have this dragged out forever with me waiting for the monies he believed I should receive. I knew I was with a quality law firm...he had been recommended by more than one person and I am very glad I never looked any further. This is not something anyone wants to have happen, but when it does, it is a great feeling to know that there are lawyers you can trust to behave in admirable ways and to work to get deserved compensation.

I hired Atty Bearce for what I thought going in would be a fairly simple, straightforward divorce with most things agreed upon up front. I liked that he had trial experience as well, but never expected it to be necessary in mine. The situation evolved and got a lot more complicated unfortunately. I was very glad to have an experienced attorney, who saw several things coming that I frankly did not. He was always respectful of what I wanted to file for as an outcome, while providing advice on why different things would be a good idea or how they could backfire, while always leaving it ultimately up to me on how to proceed. I could not be more grateful for both the ultimate outcome of the case, or for the professionalism and helpfulness of Atty Bearce throughout the process. He was always on top of things, reachable, and able to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and easy manner. The support staff at the office was equally friendly and helpful. Made a difficult process that much easier. Some specifics involved in my case: a more complicated division of assets, custody division and uniform support orders, discussing a real estate disposition that was definitely non standard, and ultimately having to file for a default judgement when the other party refused to participate in the proceedings. We tried formal mediation but the case was ultimately decided at a trial hearing, something I never expected it to come to at the outset.

Joy is the best! Direct, knowledgeable, empathetic, and fairly priced. We had run out of options as no one else would take our case. Another attorney actually stopped taking our calls when we asked for a reference. Joy is different. She heard us out, gave us her direct assessment, and step-by-step, took us through the process. Attorney Matta helped me draft a pretrial memorandum and has always provided me with excellent legal advice. Attorney Matta is undoubtedly great at what she does. She is incredibly intelligent and will work hard to fight for her clients but the best part of working with her is she is extremely personable and understanding. She has an expansive resume and many years of experience as a family attorney so she’s seen it all. A lot of times she was able to finish my sentences when explaining my legal troubles. Attorney Matta is also extremely fair when it comes to payment, and she worked with me which was nice. She also doesn’t forget about her clients, and her concern for the outcome of their case is genuine. Stan was the perfect attorney to walk beside me on my journey to find justice. In my case, a therapist took advantage of me in an egregious way, and it was not something that was easy for me to talk about. Today is the first time I have found the courage to publicly speak/ write of the multiple sexual assaults perpetrated against me by my own primary care provider. More importantly I wish to use this platform to publicly extend my lifelong gratitude to Attorney Stanley J. Spero, esquire, for giving me my voice, the courage to hold my doctor accountable and for his role in my one goal - the revocation of my doctor/ abusers medical license and in turn the opportiny to use his medical practice to harm another individual. I say Stan returned my voice to me as the abuse had left me feeling numb, unheard and disbelieved and it was that one moment, in a public forum, he spoke everything my whole being wanted to scream- "provider sexual assault and misconduct are crimes and a betrayal of trust like no other". My twenties are long behind me but so is the shame and fear and living on the fringes of not wanting to be the" one that rocked the boat". My hope is for all those who wish to make that first step, know that Stan will man the helm, guide you to port and drop anchor to safely bring you home. Thank you Stan. I've not forgotten you.

I was extremely fortunate that I had found TELL, a website based help organization that provides support and guidance for victims of therapy abuse. They had given me Stan's name when inquiring about my options to handle the damages I sustained during therapy. Stan, took on my case, and guided me through the process every step of the way. He and his paralegal, Mayra, were always supportive and quick to answer my questions and concerns (of which I had many). Stan truly is an expert in the area of therapy abuse, he knows the system and what to expect! I had told Stan from day one that I would not sign a gag order no matter what the settlement offer. I'm sure there was much back and forth between the lawyers but in the end, Stan came through for me and we settled out of court in 13 months without signing a gag order (other than financial disclosure I am free to talk about my case). I could not ask for more. We also filed a complaint with the Board of psychology and are still waiting for the verdict. What I went through was horrific, but with Stan's help, I hope we have put a stop to another bad therapist from harming innocent victims. Stan and his staff were personal, professional, honest, detail oriented, and sensitive to what I had been through. I called lawyer Davis after I was told by my friends that they used him and won on there cases. He returned my call the same day and we meet the next day.
