Seyfarth Shaw, the Attorney for the Marriott, is the worst Attorney that I have seen on record. Overbilling, lying to their client, costing their client $$$$, while they misrepresent, just attrocious behavior and an incompetant law firm. I was appointed Anthony by Suffolk Superior court. I was not satisfied in the least bit. He goes and puts in for a dismissal for part of my indictment without speaking with me. Even worst, he ask for a dismissal for the most frivolous part of the indictment. I couldn't understand for the life of me why he didn't ask for a dismissal of the whole indictment that contained no evidence! Needless to say i fired him. Can you believe he told me i can be re indicted on a faulty charge that was dismissed! I wouldn't recommend him to anyone I know!

In 1998, this lawyer handled my two misdemeanors (CMT's) that happened a month apart and before my five-year permanent residency. I expected a CWOF from those cases for years because he talked about it in details. I was surprised when I found out recently that it was actually a pre-trial probation (Chapter 276 Section 87). Now I can apply for naturalization without worries. My experience shows that he really chooses the best legal option for his clients.

Tracy was one of eleven trial lawyers in one of the largest pharmaceutical cases in the history of the industry back in 2003 in federal court. She worked tirelessly and was focused on the facts, to the point that the other ten trial lawyers would ask for her documents in the morning and on court room breaks, because they were not as prepared. Additionally, when she spoke, the jury listened. Tracy has the ability to build trust with all parties including clients, judges, jurors and even opposing counsel which is the cornerstone of effective representation. It was clear to see the response from all parties when she spoke, and I felt relieved that I had the most effective and powerful attorney in the courtroom. Tracy is an effective litigator. She is civil, never loses control and is professional, and very powerful in a very unassuming way. She focuses on the facts of the case, questioned key witnesses in a non-confrontational way, and brought out key information that led to me being dismissed. Tracy pointed out the law, and how the facts were inaccurate as to why I was in the case in the first place. The judge listened to this factual information and she fought tirelessly with respect, intelligence, and grace. Tracy has great instincts connected with positive energy and a sense of command that puts clients at ease and speeds the course of trials and settlements. She is competitive and wants to win, and in my case we had a positive outcome in the end. Experience matters and finding an effective attorney such as Tracy can set you apart from winning or losing in the end. Tracy gets my highest endorsement and I recommend her with no reservations.

After being served a Grand Jury subpoena, my company gave me a choice between two highly qualified attorney's and I chose Tracy based on her extensive and successful resume. When we met, I was very impressed with her direct approach to the issue and the excellent questions she asked to get at the details. In addition, she coached me on how to handle questions from other attorneys and the importance of simply answering the inquiries instead of trying to add too much detail. She is very professional as well as tough and effective in her approach and she taught me a lot about the legal system. After my testimony, the end result was no further action on the part of the US Attorney towards me personally. Tracy is an incredibly talented lawyer and I highly recommend her without reservation. And if I ever need an attorney again, I will call her in a heart beat!

I would like to start by saying I highly recommend Attorney Dawn Young. Dawn has provided me with excellent advise in my custody and removal case in a situation that needed a fresh outlook. She has grasped my highly contested and complex case within a short period of time and has given me dedicated, down to earth, effective and professional advise on how to move forward. I would like to point out that her advise was not only of legal nature but also helped me to understand my emotional challenges in this difficult life situation better. Her business acumen and her listening skills have impressed me as much as her ability to provide me with a very realistic picture of the 'doable' actions and their possible outcomes. For the first time in two years I left an attorney's office hopeful about my future and the possibilities my case has. I understand that Dawn is not considered to be inexpensive but I would like to say that her advise has been more effective and realistic than the advise of any other attorney I spoke to who overpromised and underdelivered. I highly recommend dawn as an attorney and an advisor.

Was not really helpful in my case. I felt like I had to step in above and beyond on many things. My level of involvement would have made most attorney's work easy. The fact that Dawn continued to bill me exorbitant amounts each time was unacceptable. High cost - low output. I ended up leaving this attorney half-way through my case.

Hired this guy on recommendation from my real estate agent. I think they must be drinking buddies because there was nothing about Jeremy's work to recommend him. Jeremy seemed out to lunch during my entire closing process. I repeatedly had to call him on behalf of the mortgage company when they were unable to reach him, as he wasn't responding to them promptly. Since then, I've sent three follow up emails to check on something he was supposed to look into for me prior to closing. He finally responded to the third email telling me he'd check on something. I have heard nothing since. There are plenty of real estate attorneys in Boston. You can do better.

Andrew Glaab is polite, knowledgeable, good communication, acts fast unless it is matter of distribution of the funds. In my case it took over one month (after the money was cleared by the Cohn& Dussi's bank and check in my name was issued), numerous calls and emails before I received the settlement funds. The explanations were: accounting department is busy, the check in the mail, it will take up to five days to receive the mail, large overhead, I should have received the check already, etc. Few hundred of accrued interest were not paid and the invoice was altered accordingly. I wonder if he had any control over it and if Cohn&Dussi's "creative" accounting was ever reported. My case was handled by a junior associate, and I wish Andrew Glaab was more involved because at some point I was worried that approach of a less experienced associate would lead to countersuit. Luckily, it didn't. Andrew Glaab claims he can't afford to be fair to own clients because of large overhead. My case was addressed and settled in timely manner and I eventually received the settlement funds sans interest

I called to ask legal questions in regards to Massachusetts state laws and federal state laws, I spoke to Lawyer Mckaughey and he was extremely rude and had a lack of knowledge of the state laws or federal laws, he told me that he had a headache and was about to go home and that he didn’t have time to hear what I had to say. Then he accused me of defamation because I was stating that there was a possible violation of data protection laws and stated that what I was saying was untrue (even though state and federal laws are public knowledge that everybody has access to ), he belittled me as if I had no idea what I was talking about and then he told me to take it to the judge and hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional, rude, arrogant and immense lack of knowledge when it comes to basic state and federal laws. Would definitely not recommend hiring an attorney that would react in such a child like manner. I have no idea how this office got licensed because they are unethical and unprofessional.

This law office offered free consultation, this attracted me to make an appointment. I had made an appointment with Johanna herself 2 weeks in advance, when I got there she was out of the state and after taking a day off and a train to Boston I decided to see another attorney. I still had to wait 1 hr. in waiting room full of people with no appointments. I started explaining my case but she took the folder I brought in from my hands and stopped me from speaking. she proceeded to tell me what my case was and that my case was so complicates to resolve that it would take years and a lot of money to resolve almost assuring me solving my case was going to be a miracle. After 2 min she sent me to the finance girl who gave me a sticky note with how much money I needed to pay to retain and start process about 2k. not even a breakdown saying these are the steps and this is how much you have to pay for each step & related fees. I still had questions and the finance office girl had to pull the attorney into her office so I can get clarification on what the process was. I felt I was at the DMW, come in- get out! That place was so disorganized and overwhelming it was insane, I even saw the receptionist ignoring calls. Luckily, I had done some online research before appointment and knew my case was not as trivial as she wanted me to believe. They do these scare tactics to make up pay fast, so you are hooked with them. I consulted with a 2nd attorney who said your case is a 123 step process. This attorney actually gave me the same answer I saw online plenty of times from successful cases. after the consultation with 2nd attorney she said she would email me with a detail of our meeting. she sent me a step by step guide of how i was going to obtain my GC , how much I was going to pay for each stage and the USCIS fees related to each step. I was expected to pay about 12k total with this law office not sure what that was going towards. new layer charged me 5k total and I know exactly when that has to get paid based on the movement of my case.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
