Jason presented recently at our small business group, and did a great job explaining the Personal Injury world to us, and how he helps his clients out by providing a stress free way of navigating the journey to a settlement that is justifiable. I recommend anyone with a personal injury claim to call him for guidance/help.

I had an exceptional experience working with Lashay Jones and the team at this law firm. I was facing unfair move-out and cleaning charges from my previous landlord, but Lashay expertly defended me and ensured I wasn't taken advantage of. Lashay was incredibly talented, subjective, and customer-focused throughout the process. She meticulously reviewed all the evidence I had collected and built a bulletproof case on my behalf. Her professionalism and attention to detail were truly impressive. Thanks to Lashay's tireless efforts, we were able to settle the case in a very favorable way for me. I'm so grateful for her dedication to serving the truth and protecting her clients' rights. I would recommend this law firm and Lashay Jones without any hesitation. They provided an outstanding level of service and delivered an incredible outcome.

I changed to working with Jason from a large company. One of those companies that are on TV, billboards and so on. Working with Jason and his office crew has been easy for me. They have made this bad situation so much easier for me. And having him local is great. I know who is working hard to get things moving right along. Because of Jason and his team, I received a check. And they are still working on my claim. I would recommend anyone with a injury case to call his office 1st. Save yourself some time.

Just to bring awareness to others seeking help. This firm is very good at what they do. This firm will fight and win your case. However, Not for You, but for Them. Liars and Decievers. "Lawyers" This firm will drag it out untile theres no $$ left for the individual that has suffered. Im my case I acctually had to pay for medical bills in the thousands. after the fact of case was won and closed. Why? Because after they collected their enormouse fees theres was no $$ left to cover my medical bills. As she proceeded to lie to me, saying that my bills had reached statutes of limitations. And that if I had any problems with the bills to call her. I did that. Then she goes on to say she'll look into it. Only to ignore my calls completely. I trusted her to properly advise me, which she did not. I still have not recovered from being T-Boned, the other driver was at fault. Im not even mad, just want others to know. In September 2022, I hired Steven J Fields to represent me in a difficult divorce. His hourly rate was $600 per hour, and the consultation fee is $600 per hour. I placed my trust in him and his paralegal. I began to wonder if I made a mistake in November 2022. In our first hearing - Steve did not file for child support properly; The Commissioner pointed it out. Steve told me later that he had always done it that way. Implying the commissioner was wrong. So, I asked when he would file again. Keep in mind. He knew my wife had left the family, I was working and raising 3 kids by myself. She was providing zero help. His response? 'You can't just file a motion for child support, it takes time and money.' Later he told me that the reason he didn't file the initial motion correctly is that I was in a hurry, and he was trying to help me. So, our motion hearing March 2, 2023. Opposing counsel pointed out that Steve had not filed my financial declaration. Steve insisted that he had, that he had a receipt. But lo and behold, they were filled March 8th - 6 days after the hearing!!!! The hearing was continued to March 22, 2023, did lead to an order for child support by my wife. There were several other mistakes. He did not like being called out on them. In fact, when I asked why he had a hearing with my wife's lawyer to reschedule the trial in May 2023, he told me I was a difficult client. That his paralegal had asked him several times to fire me because I caused too much stress. I found this out by looking at the King County court website! When I was given my files - other client's information was mixed throughout. I am letting them know. When I asked for copies of emails Mr. Fields sent opposing counsel as I am now Pro Se (after Steve knew I was out of money he withdrew as my lawyer.) he told me he owns them - and would not provide them to me. I was billed over $30,000 by Mr. Fields and we had not gotten to mediation! I had asked him how much he felt I would need to have available to get through trial. I asked his paralegal several times for him to call me. I never received a response. Oh - my wife was directed to provide released of records. Steve and his paralegal decided to draft them. One big mistake - they listed an incorrect birthdate, so I was charged several hundred dollars for records that came back with nothing. He told me that the birthdate issue was my wife's lawyers. No Steve - you included the originals with the wrong birthdate sent by your paralegal. I have them with your paralegals handwriting! There is so much more, and I am preparing a filing with the Washington State Bar Association. He knows. He didn't seem to care. Someone wrote that anyone looking should look elsewhere. I wish now that I had. Steve did not prepare me for what to expect - wife filed for reconsideration and Steve was indignant when I asked him that meant. Same when she filed a counter motion again - I should have known!

Steve is the best, most knowledgeable attorney with whom I have ever worked and it's not even a close comparison. His logical reasoning was on point and his answers to questions were concise and helpful. I appreciated his efficient and effective work after he carefully listened and then reviewed the thousands of pages/documents in my case. His talent to see what was happening amid the emotions, chaos and the storm of documents he received, is what quite literally "saved the day". I could not have picked a better attorney and I was so thankful to have him and his paralegal Tasha assist me. I am in their debt forever.

I hired Steven Fields after a friend (attorney) recommend him while I was contemplating which attorney to hire for my divorce case. I'm glad that I hired Mr. Fields and his firm to handle my case. Not only was he able to get what I wanted in the divorce, he exceeded my expectations by far. He is a true Attorney that cares about your needs as a human being and not necessarily after the money. If you are looking for a honest, hard working Attorney, give him a call.

I have been throughly impressed with Ms. Hiller. Her knowledge of criminal and family law (which sometimes go hand in hand with petty DV & Anti-Harrassment Orders). She is excellent in her strategy when communicating with opposing counsel and she is a master of articulation when appearing in front of a Judge/Commissioner. With a multitude of cases, she was able to recall/recount crucial/critical details of my case and was able to successfully make arguments that lead to favorable rulings. She has the uncanny ability to exercise finesse along with a very diplomatic tact in lieu of forcefull bully tactics that give legal professionals a poor reputation. She accomplishes this without sacrificing an ounce of passionate advocation on behalf of her clients.

Jennifer is great but very slow in returning phone calls. I had to call her office twice to get a return phone call. Finally she sent me an email on when we could get together to talk about helping me with a beneficiary form. She said she could do it as we speak but I wasn't available that day. I emailed her back to set up a time. i never heard from her again. It's been about 3 weeks. This is a concern, because if something happens to me my daughter will have problems contacting her.

We had a first meeting with Jennifer and hired her for will planning. It was an hour long phone call where we went over all the details and she asked us to come for the signing in 2 weeks time. We asked her if we could get our own witness and she said yes, she would mail the papers. Its been over a month and we still have nothing, she does not respond to messages and the her phone assistant is of no help either. We feel like we wasted our time and energy with multiple follow ups but are back at the same place we started. Don't waste your time, look for another attorney.

After I lost the trial, she didn’t let me know there is 10 days for me to file the motion for reconsideration. I want to why we lost the trial since she said we had a strong case. I emailed her no response I called her she didn’t return my call. After one week. I went to her office and asked her to file the motion for reconsideration. She said she had no time to do it. She would email the form to me and let me fill the form, she file it. I asked when she would email the form to me. She said today. That day was Tuesday. I finally received a email at 4:20 Thursday afternoon. She said please let me know if you want to file the motion for reconsideration ASAP, it’s due tomorrow. There was no form in the email. I emailed her back and fired her.

Mary's santor was hired for a medical malpractice suit. Every time we tried to reach her by phone or email she wouldn't answer us for 4 to 10 weeks. She would always tell us what she was going to do at each visit then 6 months later we would go back and she would say the same thing as 6 months ago. She had 3 to 4 years to find a expert witness and 5 days before court she called and said she hadn't found one. Judge dismissed case for not enough evidence.

If you're looking for an Professional Attorney that is responsive; keep looking. Ms. Santor agreed to help me with several individual cases, after providing her with all requested background information and obtaining her agreement to assist, I never heard from her again. Multiple follow up attempts remained unanswered.

Susan Teel represented me a few years back when I was trying to handle my late mother's estate. She could definitely count the money coming in, but when asked numerous times to get something signed, she failed to do so. I now have to deal with it. When the other party and their representatives said they were not interested in a certain part of the estate, she would not obtain a signed document stating so. Save your money. They say representing yourself, you have a fool for a client. Well it's better than paying Susan Teel and Associates $5000, and feeling like a prostitute that just received the screwing of my life. Good luck, Sean

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
