Cory took on my tough custody case. I am a father who lives out of state and we had no previous court order for my children. I was gravely concerned for the well being of my children and Cory was facing a mother biased judge. He presented the law to me and did not make any false promises. His preparation for the trial was phenomenal and he prepared me for what to expect on the stand. His knowledge of the law and his hard work in preparing the case helped the judge see my concerns which helped me win full custody of my children. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney. I would highly recommend him to anyone, even trust him to represent anyone in my family.

Cory is a very caring person. He has been patient, compassionate and understanding during the entire time he has been helping me with my parents estate. I lost both my Mom and Dad over a period of just a few weeks. Cory is easy to talk to and always professional. A very smart and a very knowledgeable young man. He is kind and truly cares about the people that go to him for help. I highly recommend him to everyone and I feel he goes above and beyond no matter what questions or assistance I may need. He's always pleasant and kind. He's one of the good guys!

I was referred to Cory by my business attorney. I am very thankful to have been introduced to Cory. He made my divorce as clean and easy as possible. He was very transparent in the beginning about expectations and kept the entire process friendly and professional. If I have any friends or family who have to go through the same process I will definitely be sending them to Cory Stuart!

Unfortunately, my experience with Greg Larson was not positive. While he performed his duties as an attorney adequately, his approach was very transactional and cold. When I sought advice and clarification on billing issues, Greg became almost combative, which was truly unfortunate. This demeanor made it difficult to communicate effectively and left me feeling uncomfortable and unsupported.

My husband and I did a lease to own option on a house that we were in love with. The owner expressed that she felt so good about us being the ones in the house and that's why she allowed us to do this option. We told her that we would take of the house like it was our own and that she wouldn't receive any calls from us about any troubles the house may have, and we did do some renovations to make the house clean. When it came down to the wire of us having to purchase the home, we had a hiccup in our credit and needed 6 more months to be able to purchase the house. She became very nasty extremely quickly and wanted the house and the equity that we put into the house, for herself. We called Greg, trying to find out if we had any options......he was so awesome at negotiating with her and talking to her in a way that everyone would win. We were able to close on our house in the nick of time. Greg was wonderful and attentive through the whole VERY STRESSFUL process with us. He was my listening ear, when I'm sure he didn't love listening to me be chatty Cathy. He was very understanding of our situation and he tried to understand hers as well. I feel he did a fantastic job at communicating with us. He was quick to respond EVERYTIME! We so much appreciated having him on our side through a really rough time in our lives.

I hired Stephen thru a referral from my parents lawyer Wilford Taylor. I hired him to preserve all that my parents wanted. He talked me into changing everything my parents paid good money to have written on their Wills Trusts and Estate! He wrapped it all up nicely and handed it all to my brothers with a bow and I got nothing and the brother my mother took out of her estate got half sharing all with my other brother who Stephen talked me into giving Executorship!!! Beware! When emotions are involved I wanted my relationship with my lawyer and did exactly what he asked me to do...I got screwed in the end and got nothing!!! Even out of moms vault because he said "how do I know this $100.00 bill is not worth a million"? Idiot google it! He is terrible to say the least!!! STAY AWAY RUN AWAY!

This lawyer dropped the ball on my bankruptcy. He claimed that he never received information I had emailed. I even had proof of the emails sent and read receipts. I had provided him with everything he needed. I would wait for responses and would have to call and email several times. Finally, time ran out and the case was dismissed by the judge all because of this lawyers laziness. Then, he said I'd have to pay all over again! Thousands down the tubes for a woman having to file bankruptcy due to covid and loss of work. Gee thanks.

I hired Mr. Biddle for my bankruptcy and he was amazing. Not only was he extremely responsive but, even after my bankruptcy was over, he still helped me with my requests for information when I was getting ready to buy a house. My title company told me they had to "order" information about my mortgage and title but Mr. Biddle looked it up online, and emailed me my discharge papers and the information about my mortgage and title that the title company said would take over a week to receive. He really is a great lawyer and put me at ease both before, during and after my bankruptcy. I can't recommend Mr. Biddle enough.

Patrick is very straight forward and answered all my questions to the fullest. Kim was exceptionally well at helping me from out-of-state as well. Overall, it appeared that many of the other attorneys looked to Patrick for advice and they often seek him in the hallway for advice since he was a former prosecutor.

I was looking for an attorney to handle a debt that arose from an apartment lease agreement. The landlord was playing hardball because of a negative (but honest) review I left online. The landlord even refused to accept full payment because I insisted we sign a release. When I contacted this Bybee character he sounded arrogant. I had to sell myself and my case to him even when I was willing to pay for his services. While describing the situation I mentioned the negative review I left and he interjected with "there goes any good will". There I was with my wallet open looking for representation and he did nothing but question me at every point. If you like being treated like a second class citizen this is your guy. Otherwise I'd recommend finding someone with better bedside manners.

At first Michael Miller seemed to be caring, a good listener, and very reassuring about what needed to be done for what should have been a simple divorce. Unfortunately that didn't last long and after that it was very hard to find out what was going on with my divorce. I would ask questions and receive very short texts with legalized terms that I didn't understand...so of course following up with more questions cost more money. The final straw was when I found out from my ex husband that the divorce was finalized 5 days prior. When I contacted the office about this the response was almost like "oops." So if you're looking for someone who doesn't communicate and not proactive about keeping you informed about your divorce, Michael Miller is your guy.

I worked with these folks over at Jones, Skelton and Hochuli before they broke off into another firm. While I like a majority of these folks, the administrator is awful. If she doesn’t like you you’re out. Her name is Kara. And she fires people if they get cancer. Unless, of course, you’re a lawyer. Just think about this before choosing this firm as your law firm. And Rachel Love, Tonya died. Your assistant, that you loved so dearly passed away from ovarian cancer, and wasn’t given the opportunity to come back to work after treatment. Because Kara, who is now your administrator, told her that she has CANCER and there’s no place for her at the firm anymore. Tim is great. Rachel, I thought you were a nice person. Apparently I was wrong.

My wife’s children were removed per an emergency order resulting from a baseless claim of child abuse. Despite us having video and audio evidence that contradicted the allegations, Kelly’s advice was to wait 6-8 months for DCS to investigate. She told us that we were not able to fight the allegations or the removal of custody of the kids. We sought several outside opinions and all were in agreement that our evidence was very strong and that *not* fighting the allegations would imply guilt on our part. Even worse: The day that the kids were taken away, I called and the office to beg them to contact my wife by phone that day as she was very distraught. Blake Binion-Holliday told me (verbatim), “We are not a crisis line. You are entitled to legal advice and you will receive that in writing by the end of the day.” I cannot believe the lack of empathy afforded to a client in the field of family law… In our opinion, Kelly’s office is fine for handling simple run-of-the-mill family cases. But if you have a complex case or one that goes before a judge, you need an attorney that exudes confidence and can get the judge’s attention and make your side of the case heard. Kelly proved utterly incapable of doing so - to the point that we wish we had hired the opposing attorney. Her lack of ability in front of a judge, her obvious inexperience in cases involving false allegations of abuse where DCS has become involved, and her unwillingness to admit that she was in over her head lead us to strongly recommend against representation from her office for all but the simplest of cases.

I hired Kelly for custody representation. I put $5,000 retainer which she blew through in several days and I also paid her hrly, which balance was paid in full, on time, by me. She used all my own work, forms, declarations, with nothing new to add to the table. I caught her "dealing" with opposing counsel and didn't want to help me whatsoever. In my opinion, she is only in it for the money and how she can over bill clients. She was dishonest with me and when I questioned her on certain things, she got upset with me and closed herself off. I had to start representing myself, which I absolutely did a spectacular job. Now I have fantastic representation and couldn't be happier Kelly is behind me.

I used this attorney back in 2009. She charged me a $4,000 retainer. My ex and I were able to work a lot of stuff out on our own, she she ended up having to do very little work for me. Well, she made sure she kept her $4,000 by charging for every little thing. She also left some very important items out of the parenting agreement. She claims I told her to leave them out, but I did not. Any good lawyer would not have left them out. As another reviewer stated, she "nickeled and dimed". I feel that overcharged me for the work she did and that her work was inadequate.

The previous reviews were correct about Christine Powell. Please if she is assigned to your case get her off, unless you can get on her emotions with no evidence. Christine Powell was unfortunately appointed to my case as a best interest attorney. My case involved a narcissistic parent who has been out of my children’s lives for the past several years to the point where he has been in jail for non-payment of child support. As our court date was approaching, I called her for our initial meeting and she wanted to meet last minute. After the meeting, Powell promised me that she would do everything in her power to prevent the other parent to receive 50/50 custody. I thought that was a little odd because at that time she did not even speak with the other parent or my children. Powell then met with the other parent the day before the hearing. Powell called me right after her meeting with the other parent and said that the other parent made allegations about me and that she believed those allegations. Powell then proceeded to use profanity against me and spoke to me in an emotional tone. I could not believe all of the allegations Powell was saying about me especially since I have never done anything close to what she had said. For example, Powell said that I have an alcohol problem and I can’t even remember the last time I drank alcohol. Despite all of that, Powell told me that at Court the next morning she would recommend to the Judge that I get every day except some weekends. To my surprise, at Court the next morning, Powell recommended to the judge that I get 50/50 custody, made baseless allegations against me, and recommended that I be tested for alcohol. To make matters worse Powell told the Court that she did not even need to interview my kids because her mind was already made up and the interviews would not change anything. It is devastating because I am the only parent that my children know and all one needs to do with Powell to get her to side with you is to make false allegations about the other parent.

I am the petitioner in my case. Over a year ago my now 3year-old son was abused while in his mother's care. When we broke up she kept my son from me for 2 month's before I was able to get her to court. We finished court and not even a month later his mother lied to the courts to get emergency custody of our son. I went to the courts with proof that she lied and a witness whom she told that now that she had custody of our son she would never let me see him again. The courts assigned Christine Powell to the case. From my very first phone conversation with Christine she used offensive language told me I was guilty of what my ex said dispite my proof that my ex had committed perjury to get emergency custody of my son. She then told me to email her the information I have. A week later she says she doesn't have the time to read the emails and to mail her the papers. She also not only accused me of stalking my ex she said she believed that I was. I informed her it's impossible for me to stalk anyone without a vehicle. She also told me I wouldn't be getting my son on Halloween even after I told her that our current custody agreement says our Son spends all Holidays with both parents. She replied back with )"That's not how it works"). I replied back with haven't you even read the custody agreement? Her next email was her apology for not checking the agreement. I still didn't even get to to my son trick or treating for a hour. She has been coaching my son's mother. Which is a conflict of interest. She also refuses to give me the babysitter information that his Mom has even though it's not protected information in any way. She lied to the courts about me even though I can prove she is lieing. This woman thinks she canmakr up laws at will. She eeven threated my boss to have me held in contempt of court if he didn't let me have the day off for a mediation that I had already requested to the courts that it be changed because I didn't have anyone to cover my shift. The judge of the case granted my request to reschedule the mediation. This woman has also orderd me to give my son to his Mom before my time is up or else.

Mr. Brown did not properly or ethically handle my Rule 32.1, Petition for Post-Conviction Relief. Mr. Brown took 9 long dilatory months to file my Petition for Post-Conviction Relief and failed to file a Reply to the Prosecutor’s false statements in the states response. In fact, Mr. Brown failed to file any reply at all. Falling well below the ethical norms of what is expected of an attorney when accepting a case that deals with a person’s most valuable asset their very “Freedom.” Mr. Brown had everything he needed to file the Petition, because he received it from my Appellate Attorney within days of his tenor on my case. I sent Mr. Brown detailed instructions of what needed to be include in the Petition within a week of Mr. Brown accepting the case. Mr. Brown tried to get me to lose some of these issues that needed to be included in my Petition by arguing with me that they were not necessary “which is false” because if you don’t use them you lose them in other petitions, and continued to delay the process by ignoring my phone calls and requesting for extensions from the Court by falsely stating to the Court that he needed a certain transcript that; 1. he already had and 2. didn't have anything to do with my Petition or with what needed to be filed. Mr. Brown finally agreed to file the Petition with what I requested because it was proper, but only after my wife called him almost every day for over a month. Mr. Brown also tried to get me to sign a petition without the issues that needed to be kept in play during the process, by sending me an incomplete Petition, because if you don’t include them in your rule 32 they will be lost forever. After the Prosecutor filed his response, Mr. Brown did not send me a copy of it until it was to late to file the mandatory reply. Mr. Brown did not file any reply to the states response at all, and everything the prosecutor stated in his response “even though it was false” was considered by the judge as if it were true, due to Mr. Browns Failure to reply to the Prosecutors Response. The Judge stated that her ruling was based in part because Mr. Brown failed to file a reply to the states response. Mr. Brown issued his final statement falsely claiming that there we no other issues to continue to the Rule 32.9 Petition for Review. Mr. Brown then took another month or so to send me the Rule 32.1, decision, and the rest of the file so I could continue to file the Rule 32.9, again delaying the process, to give me the time needed to file my Rule 32.9 Petition for Review. These are not all the problems I experienced with Mr. Brown. The fact is Mr. Brown did not work in my interest at all, and I would not recommend him to anyone.

  1. Verify Their License:

  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
