The Chicago Police arrested me for possession of a firearm and I was charged with AGG UUW which is a non-probationable felony. Per the statute, the minimum sentence is 1 year in prison if convicted.
Prior to this arrest I had no criminal background. As such,, this case had my future, reputation and freedom on the line and so I needed a lawyer who knew how to fight
Luckily, my friend referred me to Attorney Hyland and he scheduled a consultation for me to come to his office the next day.
During the consultation I admitted that I had been caught red handed and the states case was strong.
Mr. Hyland advised that he would still look for any possible way to beat the case but if there was no way to win at trial or by motion, then the strategy would shift to do everything in his power to avoid a prison sentence and prevent me from becoming a felon.
Throughout the case, it was obvious that Mr. Hyland knew the law inside and out. He reviewed all the evidence with me, explained every step of the process, discussed the pros and cons of every decision and made himself available whenever I had a question.
Long story short, we couldnt beat the case but Mr. Hyland was a man of his word and did exactly what he said on day 1.
Mr. Hyland was able to persuade the Prosecutor to amend the felony gun charge to a misdemeanor and I received 2 years probation.
Thanks to Mr Hyland, I am not convicted felon and I didn't go to prison.
I will never use any other Attorney. And if anyone I know catches a case, I will be referring Mr. Hyland because the man does what he says and gets the job done.

Finding a good doctor, dentist or an outstanding attorney these days would require a stellar, crystal ball. In 2005, I did not have access to any crystal ball, but was assigned a court appointed attorney to assist me in the charges brought against me in Federal Court.
I knew I was innocent but I also knew that my case could possibly fall into the realm of a nuclear time bomb. I had filed a complaint against ten of the largest security firms in the United States, which would have shut Wall Street down in one week. How was such a thing even possible? I was demanding these firms, when taking on a new client, inform them that their money could be used without their knowledge or informed consent for such things as gambling schemes, shorting stocks, hedge funds, dirivatives, flipping, etc. To require "informed consent" would obviously alert the buyer and bring a grinding halt to Wall Street's manner of doing business. There would be no more legalized gambling.
Three years passed and still I hadn't been informed of a trial date. I asked the court to dismiss my case. Instead, they appointed a new lawyer in private practice, Mr. Leonard Goodman. He also asked that the court dismiss the case but in return the federal court set a trial date for August, 2008. I put great faith and trust in Mr. Goodman despite the short time allotted to prepare and present his defense.
With the help of his associate, Melissa, they both researched the entire case and came to the realization that I was, indeed, innocent. At that point they worked steadily to mount my case. I'm sure both he and Melissa wondered how they ever ended up in this mess with a dilusional client. If they had known what I knew, they wouldn't have been so reticent to go against the SEC, the U.S. Attorney, the FBI and the U.S. Postal Service, who were all in collusion to insure my conviction. Their aim was to aid all these agencies to continue destroying people's lives. This is how the web of Wall Street operates. They had two weeks and the odds, they thought, might be insurmountable in consideration of the Federal Government's having had three years to prepare.
In my opinion, it was in the courtroom that Mr. Goodman discovered his true talents as an attorney. There were five days of trial and twenty government witnesses, "so called" experts from each of the above named agencies. Mr. Goodman dissected all of their testimonies, shattering the prosecution's case and leaving all of them looking for the exit door. It was an incredible and beautiful procedure to unfold to my view. I was in awe.
At 4:30 p.m. on Friday, the fifth day of the trial, the prosecution gave their closing arguments. When finished, the presiding judge turned to the defense for its presentation. Mr. Goodman stood up and informed the court that the defense rested its case and would not present any witnesses for the defendant. There was dead silence in that courtroom. The prosecutors were in shock over what they'd just heard.
The following Monday, the jury took six hours to deliberate the six counts and rendered a verdict of not guilty on all counts. What a day for all of us. The looks on the faces of the prosecutors was classic. They had mounted a humongous case and expected to win. Honesty doesn't always win in court but for me it did. I returned home feeling elated and truly vindicated. Thanks to Mr. Goodman and his associate, I was a free man.

I was fortunate enough to have Leonard represent me in a federal drug conspiracy case in early 2000. His understanding of the law and resolve to fight for me lead to my acquittal on all major charges and the application of the safety valve provision...a rare occurrence in the U.S. legal system. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Leonard was his ability to continuously think strategically about my case and yet, always have my best interest in mind - every step of the way. It's a rarity these days to find extremely competent, loyal and honest lawyers who are also empathetic toward their clients...Leonard is one of those lawyers.
I would recommend Leonard Goodman any day of the week. His legal acumen speaks for itself - what is not so evident is that you will also get a genuinely decent person who will fight for you and your legal rights. We need more people like him these days.

I leave everything in his hands and I don't have to worry about it because he has it all under control so that I can focus only on getting well. On the days that I do have a melt down he calmly talks me through and tells me its going to be ok. Having dealt with back pain he has an understanding of what it is like to live in pain and therefore it's enabled him to relate to his clients better in my opinion because he's more understanding when your having a bad day of your needs. Even over the phone when your having a total melt down he can calm you down he will tell you everything is going to be ok you believe him. Not every attorney can do that. It's a special gift.

As you may know, filing and fighting a work comp claim is a long and tedious process with days, weeks and months of frustration. Guy Spayth was clear and concise about the process, the obstacles and the precise things I needed to do make the process manageable.

Reem Odeh helped my parent get a green card after a long visa overstay. When we were about half way through the process, we encountered a really difficult pothole and had to consider the fact that my parent would not be eligible for her card. Reem personally intervened, performed some miracle work with a letter she wrote to the USCIS, and we received the green card yesterday. The process took about 9-10 months.

My brother and I needed a lawyer to handle our cousin’s estate, who lived in Cook County and died without a will or any direct descendants. Sheni was recommended to us based upon another cousin’s prior experience. For our initial meeting, Sheni agreed to meet at a location convenient to the heirs and we came prepared to summarize our basic understanding of the scope of our cousin’s estate. After only a single meeting with all five heirs, we immediately agreed to hire Sheni to handle his more complicated estate….with NO regrets!
During that initial meeting Sheni listened carefully to understand our unique situation and during that same session proposed what she thought would be necessary for this estate, along with offering two different payment options for her services. Sheni was extremely professional and communicated in a way were all heirs quickly felt comfortable in understanding the work necessary and was through yet efficient with everyone’s time. My brother and I were selected as co-administrators and worked closely with Sheni over the next 16 months to have our cousin’s probate estate opened and successfully closed.
While we didn’t consider this estate extremely complicated, it had some unusual aspects and issues that arose but Sheni was always available to answer our questions quickly or guide us through our options. If she couldn’t answer them quickly she would always respond to acknowledge she received the request and when she would be able to get back to use, which was always greatly appreciated!
There were a few unexpected and sometime frustrating delay’s caused by COVID restrictions and the Cook County court system but Sheni always provided reassurance along the way. Even when we encountered a difference of opinion over closing the estate, a quick conference call and discussion quickly resolved any remaining concerns/issues. While we have little experience working with estate lawyers based upon this one experience, we couldn’t have asked for a better person than Sheni to work with to handle our cousin’s estate in a professional way and very effectively!

My experience with Salvador is that of hope. Salvador was referred to my family and it honestly added hope to a situation for too difficult cope with. In 2015, my parents along with my sister, seemed to had been fighting a losing battle to save a home. Mr. Lopez did an outstanding job assisting me with the foreclosure sale of my home in Illinois although I lived in another state. He was very thorough explaining every step of the process. I especially appreciated the fact that the process was completed in 30 days. I communicated with him via phone and email. I was concerned about having to come back to Chicago for closing and that was not necessary which was a tremendous load off of me given my financial state at that time. I recommend him because he loves working with people and does not belittle his clients or make you feel rushed to make decisions.
