Mrs. Baker & her team of paralegals deserve 10/5 stars! I thought when I received a DWI charge my career and opportunity were over, I knew I’d lose my job, lose my house, & everything if I got convicted. I needed the best and boy did I ever find the best with Mrs Baker. My case was lengthy and very stressful, Mrs. Baker and her team of paralegals reassured me each time that they would fight and give it everything that they had! From the courtroom to consultations, phone calls, & life events Mrs Baker did nothing short than fight until the bitter end! In the end They Did It! There is no other representation I’d rather have behind me and fighting for me! My family & I are unbelievably grateful for everything they have done!

I had Mia Alzagari as my attorney for a speeding ticket in a work zone. They tried to hit me hard for my first time. Not only was it 4:55am on my way home from getting my kids from Florida but we were driving for about 20hours but there was no traffic and my gps told me it was 70mph not 55. So I thank her and ADA, Ms. Dewar very much for getting me out of a very sticky situation because without them I don’t feel like they would of even tried to listen to me

Mr. Vernon Russell was a beacon of hope for me at a time when my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed nigh on impossible. Not only was he able to defend me from an unjust accusation, but his calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional succor to myself and those I care about most. I am eternally grateful for his service, and I hereby recommend Vernon Russell.

Attorney Allen-Boger helped me with my situation involving a claim against my employer. She made sure that I understood the challenges of this process from beginning to end, and all the legal documents and terminology that was used. This educated me on my case and I knew exactly what was being stated in mediation. If I had a question, whether simple or time consuming to answer, Attorney Allen-Boger, took the time to answer. Her availability put me at ease and showed me that she was genuinely concerned about me. Attorney Allen-Boger is an outstanding attorney, who goes the extra mile for her clients. She could have just drafted my documents and asked for my signature. No, before I signed anything, she made sure that I knew exactly what was being drafted and discussed it with me. For me, that was going the extra mile to make sure I understood what was going on with my case. I will definitely refer Attorney Allen-Boger to anyone who is in need of legal representation or consultation because I know that she cares and will go the extra mile for them, like she did for me.

Attorney Boger- Allen is a GREAT attorney! She has represented me twice. Both case was a VICTORY! My first case was when the company I worked for (twenty years) was in the process of trying to built a case to terminate me by sabotaging my work with false information. Attorney Allen fought on my behalf and won! She also made sure that I was reimbursed during the time the company had me on suspension My second case was when I leased my rental unit to my best friend who tremendously damaged my property that caused me over $5,000.00 in damages. Attorney Allen took my case and won and my ex. friend now has to pay for the damages. Thank you Attorney Allen for your hard work, dedication, and help on both of my cases!!!

If I could give him a negative score I would. I had a case assigned to him through "Off The Record". Not only was the communication absolutely horrible. From ignoring my calls to the point I had to contact or call from my wife phone to pick up. He did nothing he said. Paid $1200 for at least to have him push my case back 6 months to give me time to situate somethings. After contacting "Off the Record" due to not being able to connect with him after paying my money. My case was put on the docket for 30 days later. Which I know was a retaliatory action. I was supposed to have special driving privileges with it. He in turn charged a separate fee for that. He called me and told me he would only charge me the $200 instead of the $300 he normally charges because I was a past client. But in turn he added the other $100 onto my court fees. I wouldn't have left a review and just let him do what he do and let karma square with him. But that last little tacky slick move was over the top. Especially when I had to call the clerk of court to figure out if he had even really filed the Special Driving privileges. To find out he filed them 5 days after I was told, and there was information left off, so the judge sent the paperwork back. Gods favor for the clerk working with me and gathering my information over the phone and correcting and resubmitting the information to the judge that I got the privileges. So, I paid him the extra $300 to help him run the race. But as a lawyer I would expect he's at least doing descent, to beat me out of $100 dollars start to speak volumes about a person character, not only their work. As I see communication and follow through is a big issue with him. Had I read some of these reviews beforehand. There's no way I would have gone with him. But of course, "Off the Record" said they would refund me if the problems continued to exist. But once they collected their fees, they also act like the conversation never happened. EXPECTED WAY MORE FROM HIM... but if you couldn't give me anything at least give me honesty. And his paralegal or assistant has an attitude that needs to be adjusted as well!!!

Upon receiving high recommendations regarding the work of Ms. Davis, my husband and I hired her to help with the legal aspects of adopting our son. I cannot say enough praises about the work that she did for us. Adoption can be an incredibly stressful journey but with the expertise and reliability of Ms. Davis it was very comforting to know we were in such good hands. I could rely on Ms. Davis for prompt and clear responses to my numerous questions, she approached our legal needs with enthusiasm and care, and the vast knowledge she has of adoption law was necessary to complete our adoption process. I highly recommend Ms. Davis.

We are so thankful to have found Amy. Our adoption is somewhat complicated and she has provided honest advice, has proven her knowledge of the system, and has even been willing to "talk us off the ledge" late in the evening when we felt overwhelmed by the uncertainty in the process. She is flexible but also straightforward when she feels that a particular course of action is best. I truly believe that she cares about us, our child, and our relationship with the birth mother, which is extremely important to us. She also has a good sense of humor, which is always appreciated during stressful times!

I would not recommend Brent Patterson. He said he would represent us in our case but just dragged us along. We had several meetings to discuss the case only for him not take action. I don’t believe he ever intended on working our case. In the four months we dealt with him, he never responded to any of the multiple emails I sent. He talks more than he listens and I also suspect he didn’t take action because he had a conflict of interest with the other party.

Aimee is the best lawyer I've ever had contact with. Married three times with bad custody battle twice. She really is wonderful and NOT money grubbing and greedy. Once she even gave me advice without a charge. I truly admire her as a person and as a professional. If I'm ever back in her state and have a need she is the only lawyer I'd ever consider. I miss her, she's very refreshing in today's world of mostly greedy over- rated over-paid attorneys that are heartless.... she is a gem with a great big heart.

Totally incompetent and incapable of doing what you pay her thousands of dollars to do. Never returns phone calls and when I call her office, she is never there. I am constantly told to contact her by email but she never answers those either. She took my money and did nothing but agree to continuances for almost a year and then told me if I didn't pay her more money she would withdraw as my attorney and I could start over. She shouldn't be allowed to be an attorney and take someones hard earned money and do nothing for them. Never hire this fake!

Completely unprofessional. If you hire these people all I can say is good luck. We spent 15 minutes driving around trying to find their office for a house closing because they have no sign out front, or any sign of any sort which is the first sign something isn’t quite right with this firm. What attorney has an office in a house with no sign on the outside??? I had to stop and ask another attorneys office where Morrison law was and they didn’t know even though they were 2 buildings over. Once we finally located the building we walked in and the receptionist was extremely rude, I said we were here for our 10 o’clock closing (it was 9:35) and she said the attorneys aren’t here you will have to come back at 10, I asked if we could wait in their lobby or conference room and she looked at me like I was crazy. So we walked out and waited in the car. Also this attorney did an extremely poor job throughout the closing process, without going into a long winded story the short version is they are just overall incompetent, rude, and unprofessional. Do not use these clowns.

I was represented by Lancaster & St. Louis for nearly 3 years. Their performance as my legal team was haphazard, sluggish, and emotionally draining –on their best days. As a single parent, I’m familiar with the hardships and stressors court can bring and this team failed to provide me the support I needed in one of my most difficult times – resulting in time lost with my son, financial losses, and unnecessary emotional turmoil throughout this whole process due to simple carelessness. Regarding his firm’s professionalism (or lack thereof), unfortunately I was accidentally copied on emails between Hilary and opposing counsel; a lengthy back and forth of both attorneys disparaging and making fun of court staff, fellow attorneys and even judges. This is hardly the behavior I expect to see from someone representing myself and the best interests of my son. I began with Hilary representing me in my case. After Hilary mysteriously disappeared for a second time (this time for several months), LeAnn took over my case. Both of Hilary’s disappearances also occurred within a week of two crucial hearings on motions Hilary had filed. There were plenty of conversations with opposing counsel (who Hilary was familiar with as they are both based in Cabarrus County) and plenty of emails but there was no traction on multiple fronts. With Hilary’s second sudden disappearance, opposing counsel was also replaced at the same time with someone based out of Mecklenburg County, who the office had not previously interacted with. As an aside, credit where credit is due; opposing counsel was thorough and competent and quite a contrast from LeAnn. LeAnn was tasked with representing me on the motions Hilary had previously filed and had not been heard for well over a year. From her first appearance in court, it was clear that LeAnn was unprepared. Multiple motions were dismissed due to careless oversights when being filed by Hilary. This included a motion for child support and unpaid expenses totaling well over $20k that was incorrectly filed; again carelessness. After two of these incidents, I reached out to Hilary detailing my concerns. The response I received was that THEY would decide who was assigned to which case, cc:ing LeAnn and further enflaming the situation. LeAnn's lack of preparation was exacerbated after one judgement called for a one year suspended sentence. (I've obtained a copy of the court transcript audio confirming the judge’s ruling from the bench). In drafting the judgement with opposing counsel, LeAnn neglected to include the duration of my sentence. After the judgement was filed without a duration, it became a sentence with no duration, which meant it would expire when my son turned 18. A one year suspended criminal sentence became a 7+ year sentence directly due to LeAnn’s negligence and Hilary's inaction. As an aside, if you are seeking representation and are being told you can recover attorney fees that should be a red flag and should move along in your search. In discussions with multiple attorneys (well over 10) in both Cabarrus and Meck County, I was consistently told how rare attorney's fees are to be awarded and even more difficult specifically within Cabarrus County. Hilary repeatedly sold me on the prospect of attorney fees for nearly 2 years. The question to ask yourself as a potential client is whether you are willing to take the risk or to go with someone with a more consistent track record. If my case was given the same attention as given to damage control of negative reviews on google, perhaps there would have been a more positive outcome. For a candid look into how this firm handles clients, look through their responses to google reviews. My review is honest, based on my experience and supported by emails, motions filed and their outcomes along with court transcripts.

Mr. Hastings is, by far, the best attorney in NC. After a long string of six attorneys and numerous consultations with attorneys in Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties, he is the only attorney who can handle my aggressive opposing Charlotte law firm. Like other reviews, he is the "big guns" I needed to settle my case. He is a master in his element and works his deposition like an art form to build an inpenetrable defense for the case. He has patched the holes in my case which other lawyers left open for attacks. He is assertive and speaks up in court where other attorneys sat silently and let me fall. I was cheering inside when his quick thinking and assertive performance in court sent opposers running from the stand. He has an intimidating court presence and tells you like it is but if you do everything he says and pay on time, he will not let you down. He is the most affordable attorney in the Charlotte area because he and B.J. are an efficient team. He does not nickel and dime billing or drag out unnecessary calls and emails. Other offices have several staff members answering phones and charging for the same response that they have no answers. B.J. is knowledgeable and handles the correspondence while Mr. Hastings outperfoms the opposers in court. Save your money on consultations and look no further. I've already done the groundwork here. Mr. Hastings is the weapon we both need!

Randell is the best lawyer I’ve ever seen. He has a lot of experience but also has an ability to get stuff done and quickly. He asks the right questions and knows how to get to the truth of ugly custody matters. I had a stalled out custody matter and Randell stepped in and took charge. Within weeks we were getting answers to questions that were taking years to get answered. I recommend Randell to anyone and everyone. Use his experience, his expertise and his passion. The man knows what he’s doing and how to get it done. He’s a good man too who wants truth and justice!

He did nothing but show up to court. Not prepared for my case. He must be ready to retire because he has no care about his clients at all just takes there money. If you want a family attorney just to say that you got one go ahead, but if you want an attorney to work for you then go elsewhere!

I retained Ms. Zacharias to handle my divorce, child custody and support, and equitable distribution. Ms. Zacharias has always been professional in her interactions with me. We discussed up front what would be covered by the retainer agreement and she never asked for additional compensation for the legal services that were covered by the retainer. I did pay a small additional fee to resolve a new issue that developed during the case proceedings, but this matter was not in the scope of the original agreement. My case was very difficult and some matters took a long time to fully resolve and I am grateful to Ms. Zacharias and her paralegal for their patience, professionalism, and endurance during the case proceedings. Ms. Zacharias is experienced and professional. She has been providing legal counsel and services to my family for over a decade and we will continue to use her services if legal needs should arise in the future.

This attorney was hired by my husband, at my request, to handle my affairs of our separation and divorce. When I did my initial consultation with her she told me her retainer fee was $5,000. (Higher than most in this area!). For the type of suit I was filing, and that she needed this amount "To be PAID UP FRONT", before she would start. Sounded reasonable so my husband's attorney sent a check to her, Stating that the money sent, was being paid BY THEM for my representation. After numerous consulting appointments and much confusion, I found out her retainer fee for the action I NEEDED to take was a $10,000. Retainer fee! NOT the Original $5,000. I was quoted and was now not Entitled to any more money from the opposing side! (Say What????) So, instead of suing, And, According to Her, was Forced into Mediations! Which was my husband's plan from the start! You See He Had Already Told Me That He Planned To Leave Me In Financial Ruin! He already put me through one bankrupcy! This whole, very stressful situation took 2 months and more than half of my retainer fee! I could only get through to her by leaving messages, with a part time paralegal, who could offer nothing more than, "I will give her your message". However, No matter how important my questions or Medical situation was, Ms. Zacharias would not contact me, or waited until Friday evenings, just before 5: pm. (Of course!!). This became even more stressful, since I had told her many times that this was unacceptable behavior, that I Needed to be kept informed! This problem not only continued but led to me using the very last of my retainer fees to go to mediation! Regardless of the fact that I paid the Additional fee for a meeting Immediately Before Mediations! Telling her that I could No Longer Afford Her Services!! AND that I only would ONLY be able to mediate for 1 hour! Because of the poor way she handled my case, I was given very little money for support And Had Enormous Medical And Dental Care Requirements! I Actually Received More Money From EMOTIONAL BREAK DOWNS, IN FRONT OF MY SON!! THEN She had gotten me in the 4 months she was my attorney! I was reduced to Pawning my gold and selling other positions JUST TO EAT!! The final blow came at mediation when After, I told her I Only Wanted My Medical And Dental Issues Discussed AND nothing else.....Ms. Zacharias informed me that "This Is How Mediation Is Done, WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS AND YOU WILL BE FINE!!" AFTER 5 HOURS of mediation, (AND, by the way, Ms. Zacharias did inform me, (she was Very Good at charging!), that I had enough retainer fee to go 2-3 hours!) .....AND STILL........NO AGREEMENT, SHE Informed me, that I had even GONE OVER my retainer fee balance, AND SHE WAS DONE!! Because I was so ill at the time, I Asked Her To: ASK THE OPPOSITION, IF They could pay for her continued services SO, I could At Least Walk Out With Some Kind Of Financial Support!! NOW GET THIS! SHE, got up, left the room and upon her return 15 minutes later......Told Me They, WOULD NOT pay to keep her there!!! So, I DID THE ONLY THING I COULD DO......I LEFT CRYING!! Well, I can tell you, I was NOT FINE, Like she Kept Telling Me!! IN FACT NOW, I had NO Medical or Dental Attention, (Even though, I was so ill, I was in danger of loosing my leg at the time!), AND......NO FURTHER REPRESENTATION.....As she used the balance of the retainer fee, that I had only hours before, asked for back, if I couldn't get some Financial support after just 1 hour of mediation. ....remember that was why I had the PAID meeting for PRIOR to mediation? AND LATER AFTER, Being FORCED TO MEDIATE ON MY OWN,.....I FOUND OUT THAT MS. ZACHARIAS *NEVER* ASKED FOR ADDITIONAL MONEY TO KEEP ME IN MEDIATIONS!! My conclusion is that my husband and his attorney got Everything My (soon to be X), PAID FOR!! I Most Certainly Have Gained Nothing From This Woman! My Advice, Look Elsewhere! Sheryn.

In dealings w Mr. Kraus who came to Concord Nc in abt 2005 From various states included Dekalb, GA Colorado and residence in AZ. he had different types of law and arrived here where some of his children resided . Mr. Kraus has done everything to dishonor Any written, verbal or ethically related position. Mr. Kraus agreed to assist me with a complicated and time sensitive Guardianship issue. Having been appointed my sister's Guardian 2 1/2 years ago became more daunting when her Medicaid benefits were given a 30 day notice of termination effective 8-31-13. Reinstatement meant a hasty sale of real estate and dealing with two separate courts to gain approval. Mr. Kraus listened to my details involved, and immediately agreed to help me. Mr. Kraus kept me updated via email and phone throughout the many reams of paperwork, accompanied me to court in a Western NC county to appear in court, took complete charge to lessen my stress. I sincerely do not know how this could be accomplished so quickly, even the nursing home where my sister resides, could not believe how quickly Mr. Kraus accomplished the task....under 45 days. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Mr. Kraus and his staff if timeliness, attention to detail, and professionalism are critical to the issue.

I have used Howard Irvin for three closings on homes I have purchased and several other real estate-related matters over the past twenty years and have always found him professional, reliable, his fees very reasonable, and his manner fastidious. He has never left a loose end in any of my dealings with him, and his legal staff members are always informed and professional.

This attorney's office handled our closing. The fees were outrageous & the paralegals weren't the best. Our realtor had to record our deed which is supposed to be handled by the attorney. We are not pleased w/ the service. The closing kept being delayed & the Hud wasn't even prepared before our closing apptmt. to where the realtor could review it.

Ms. Stapleton has really been a blessing in a very scary and unpredictable process. From our first contact with Ms. Stapleton, she was very thorough and professional in explaining the legal process. She was very honest in telling us the "best" outcome and the "worst" outcome. Ms. Stapleton was very responsive to any questions that we had via telephone or email. She stuck to the facts with no judgement passed. In court, Ms. Stapleton took advantage of any "loopholes" and went straight for the "kill" with ALL of the facts. My son was found NOT GUILTY of all 3 charges against him. He was thrilled. We knew from the beginning that he was innocent, and Ms. Stapleton worked very hard to prove that! Good luck and much continued success in your career and future endeavors Ms. Stapleton! Thanks again.

Perhaps it was because I was court appointed that she didn't have time for me to come in and discuss my case and evidence. We were to do that at the courthouse day of court. However she never showed up - she sent a paper to court requesting mediation. I didn't want mediation - but had no choice at that point. So I had to face in mediation someone who once again accused me unjustly and had been apart of my abuse that had me removed from her home by DSS. Way to go Ms. Stapleton.

I Hired Matt Ginn for a Driving while license revoked, I was desperate for help and hired him in the courtroom after seeing him help another person with the same charge. We spoke briefly this day and he gave me instructions and advice, which I followed to a tee. He was able to continue my case until I was able to remedy the reasons why my license was revoked. I would recommend Matt Ginn.

My boyfriend has been sitting in jail for almost a year he has not personally hired mr. Ginn but he is his court appointed attorney, which shouldn't make a difference. But every time I call to see what's going on with his case I get his answering machine and he never returns my calls, so one day a lady in the office gave me his cell phone number and when I finally got an answer he was extremely rude, and he told me that he was trying to work a deal out with the district attorney and this was over 3 months ago and I haven't got him to answer another phone call yet. I DO NOT RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!

I hired Matthew Ginn in the past for speeding Tickets and I was happy with the outcomes, he would get me unsafe equipment or get it dropped all together but IF YOU ARE HOPING for him to call you back and let you know ANYTHING about your case, you might as well forget it!! He doesnt have a Secretary, he uses other women in the office who work for another attorney but the women who will take your payments and transfer to his phones but thats it! and that DOESNT MEAN you will get a call back from him UNLESS you are not a client yet and he is looking to get your business AND MONEY!! The OLD SAYING ABOUT ATTORNEYS ARE TRUE WITH MATTHEW F. GINN, HE IS DISHONEST AND HE DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH YOU, he will NOT tell you what is going on with you case and with my case, A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES, He has NOT PAID the court cost even though I have paid him for it and I was threaten by the state that they were going to take my Licenses and even after calling Mr. Ginn MANY TIMES, OVER 10 to 20 times, I AM YET TO GET A RETURN CALL BACK FROM HIM. I spoke with him in the very beginning and he was VERY RUDE telling me that HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AND THE PRICE I PAID HIM WAS ONLY ENOUGH FOR HIS FEE but he would find out how much I owed for Court cost and he would pay the late fees but again I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM HIM!! I paid him $300 dollars for NOTHING!!! I could have went to court and pleaded guilty, as he did for me cause he said I HAD NO OTHER OPTION, and I could have used the $300 dollars to pay the court cost and by showing up to court myself I WOULD HAVE KNOWN HOW MUCH THE COURT COST WAS!! So I have LESS THEN 20 days before the state takes my licenses for a fee that MATTHEW F. GINN WAS SUPPOSE TO PAY BUT HE DIDNT and he hasnt called me back and WONT RETURN MY CALL and let me know how much I own for my court cost and fee!! So If you HIRE AND USE Mr. Ginn for your Attorney all I have to say is GOOD LUCK if you know how your case is going or if you even get a call back from him after you have paid him! If you pay him up front YOU WONT HEAR BACK FROM HIM so my advice is IF YOU DO BY SOME CHANCE HIRE HIM,and I dont know WHY YOU WOULD, Dont pay him until your case is settled, this way at least you know you will hear from him!! DONT USE MR. GINN, DONT HIRE MR. GINN!! HE IS DISHONEST AND HE DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH HIS CLIENTS!!

  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.

Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
