I SUGGEST DO NOT HIRE! Very unethical conduct. Violated ethics according to ethics rules of the Iowa Bar in representing me. The ethics violations handicapped my abilities to have a fair shot in divorce proceedings tipping the scales towards petitioner. I had to look up petitioners filings for myself. I could not get a response from attorney as to what was filled. Divorce funds utilized to get caught up to speed on the divorce. Proceeding to mediation stage at the time of hire. Half of my fund funneled out headed towards trial scheduling. In her own justifications abuse her power as attorney over disabled human, injected personal feelings of insecurity, and acted out in resentful conduct to remove herself as council at a very vital time in the proceedings. I am disabled and half my fund is depleted. Thus, hindered the ability to move forward with new council funds. Tricia is not a team player, and does not work well with a total legal team towards the best possible outcome in regards to the hiring client with a minor child and DV case in another state. Tricia stated in person meeting whiskey (SCREWBALL) is good in coffee. Attempted to convince me that the whisky bottle in office had changed color due to the sun. It appeared clear like vodka. I do not know if this is the issue with job performance ability. I am just stating my truth, facts, and observation. Hopefully my review saves a human from being taken advantage of during such a life changing event as divorce. Divorce involves safety of minor child with many personal assets. SUGGEST DO NOT HIRE! I will add the personal email demonstrating personal feelings of bitter resentment toward the legal team in another state working to keep my family safe.

I am happy with the service Berry Law has provided me now and throughout the VA process. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking VA benefits. I have a service-related illness and was not getting the proper guidance through other avenues I attempted. I began searching the internet for veteran’s attorney’s when I came across Berry Law. I was assigned Aimee Robeson as my attorney from the Omaha, NE office. Ms. Robeson was a breath of fresh air from the very beginning. She is well spoken, well researched, and an excellent listener. She assisted me throughout the process, ensured my questions were answered, and responded to all my emails in a timely manner. Ms. Robeson showed honesty, empathy, and professionalism as did her legal assistants Melissa Lovrien and Angela Kratzer. The Berry Law team and Aimee Robeson work tirelessly to assist veterans with the difficult task of navigating the complicated VA system. They ensure the veteran is properly represented. Although my case is still ongoing, significant progress has been made to ensure I am afforded proper medical care and benefits.

Don’t waste your time they are only out for a quick buck and don’t really care about getting your case through to the end in your favor. My disability got denied but the whole report was full of half truths and lies wasn’t anything accurate at all . So naturally I want an appeal. They said they don’t go that far in the process. Well what good are ya if you don’t go to the very end and exhaust all resources. Now I have a bogus case full of social security workers lieing and I have to go find someone to pick it up and re-explain the whole thing to them. Totally unprofessional. I think if your working a case for some one and they get shafted and it’s chalked full of lies then it your responsibility to make sure that stuff is asked about and solved

Mr. Kolln has been my attorney for 3+ years handling various matters including my estate planning. Not only did I find him very knowledgeable and forthright, he took the time and had the patience to explain information in detail and laid it out so this 60+ single female could understand it. Mr Kolln has also done estate planning work for my 65+ brother who has had a stroke and is unable to speak clearly. I simply cannot explain how much the family appreciated his patience and help. I would HIGHLY recommend this attorney.

Poor attorney. Do yourself a favor, hire someone who actually cares. He talks as if he knows the law but doesn't completely or maybe he just didn't like me. Either way. Unprofessional. Do not hire him for a divorce case. He sided with my ex. I should have gotten a better settlement. Mike provide no guidance. My friends provided more information than he did. His memory is failing him. He couldn't remember what was said or done. He talked bad about me to my ex's attorney. Game player for sure. Don't waste your money. If I could give him no stars, I would.

How do you get a hold of Sara Benson? I have left emails, voicemail and called numerous times. I was directed by her secretary to submit a payment through their website I did. No services ever happened couldn't get an appointment a call back, email nothing. I had to get another attorney to help with my issue. I explained to the new attorney the issue she then spoke to Sara or her office and was told they would forward the payment. NEVER HAPPENED! I just want a call back or something to resolve this issue.

Helen and Lisa are truly amazing to work with. I have been told many times before that Helen was the best attorney around. Every time I had a question or any type of concern, it was answered within 30 minutes or less. I was so stressed out about my case and both Helen and Lisa worked with me on all my questions. I am so glad I chose her to work with. She is an absolute blessing. It is amazing to see her in action. She's very professional and goes through your case with a fine tooth comb. Amanda was hired for a couple diffrent cases, she did a great job. Then was representing on my behalf in a car accident claim. The woman had ran a stop sign hit my father and I caused damage. I lost my job of 8 years due to injury. Had multiple surveys 75,000 in medical bills. Suffering from a brain injury i lost my home, job, kids, unable to preform daily task like I normally would. I left everything in her hands thinking under oath she would have my best intrest. She copied my signature from another document that I did not consent to. When I confronted her about it she became very defensive and started to use my disability against me. Things took a turn from there as I spoke my TRUTH and concerns given to me as a RIGHT and to not be used against me WRITTIN in the CONSTITUTION. I then told her that my concerns were valid and if from that moment forward if I had any questions about her character and contract I would have to kindly let her go off of my case and find new representation that has my best intrest and my rights will not be violated. She got very aggravated and began to say with an attitude on speaker phone with witnesses on my end. That my feeling arnt validated because my judgement is off due to my TBI TRAMATIC BRAIN INJURY my family then took over on my behalf that what she was saying was cruel and inaccurate. She began to ask them if they was my new representation. They stated no . I then received a letter in the mail saying that she had dropped my case 2 months before Trial knowing the statue of limitations would be in full effect I didn't have the knowledge in due time to represent self. She put a 20,000 lien on me and put something into the system so I could not find any other counsel due to conflict of interest even out of town lawyers wanted to help me but couldn't violate whatever she had put in. When I had went to court against the other party I showed up alone unable to proceed because I didn't have a lawyer. My case was thrown out and the 1 million she promised me by Christmas was no longer. My pain and suffering wasn't enough from the accident or losing my father, house, kids, job, unable to do daily activities owning almost 100,000 in medical bills now having a 20,000 lien on me from her, not able to proceed with my case or being compensated for what I was owed. All because I stood up for my Constitutional Rights that she[ without a doubt violated] I ask that you think twice before hiring her or the firm behind her. We hire someone out of good faith in what they tell us not ever thinking this will be the devastating outcome. Look into who your hiring and who they say they are and who they actually are and they match. By the universal law every cause has an effect it has changed me for the better inside on the material I have nothing. I will stand true to my character always because of this. Lesson learned. Everything has a consequence so my wish is to help others avoid this if possible. Thank you! Sovereign

Mrs. Roberta Megel was my appointed public defender in CINA case. She disregarded the false accusations/statements and all the evidence I presented her. She entered exhibits that hurt my case instead of help my case. This case should have been dismissed months ago, but not one piece of actually evidence has been shown/filed with the courts. Mr. Megel has destroyed my family along with the corrupt family system. She is there for the money because it doesn't matter if she wins or loses your case. She'll still get paid. She only received a star because it was required for posting, otherwise she wouldn't have received it at all.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.

    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
