I retained David Wiley services based on the recommendation of a close friend. Upon first speaking with David it was a very easy conversation describing my situation position, he intuitively understood everything and was able to devise a legal strategy immediately. Legal situations are usually tense and stressful; David’s leadership gave me peace of mind and confidence as I knew I was in highly competent hands. David’s continued follow gave me a clear road-map of our strategy as well a feeling of genuine concern. Everyday I go to work and enjoy the proceeds of my livelihood, I am thankful for the brilliant representation I received from David, and have recommended his services to others, as I do to any reader of my recommendation. He does not have any flashy advertisements, but he fights for his clients in a manner unparalleled by anyone. Mr. Urteago is an extremely sharp man who is absolutely fully dedicated to his clients' success. He puts his clients first to a degree that's in its own elevated category. Of course, I recommend this attorney - he'll take great care of you. (My statements are all based on facts from personal experience working with this attorney.)

Our family and friends have been going to him since my grandfather met him while he was working in the District Attorneys office in Dallas back in the 70s. His fees for divorce and criminal cases are always very reasonable and he answers his own phone or calls us back when he gets back from court. He never takes more than our share in injury cases and pays the doctors and expenses first. Some lawyers just lop their share off the top leaving clients with the least amount. He gets all his clients from old clients. He also gives us free advice and phone numbers to call for help, like 211.

It is hard to express how thankful we are that we were referred to Brian for our case. We were in a rough situation with a will that was not probated in time, a house to sell as my Mother moved into assisted living, and decedent's children making claim to 50% of the proceeds of the house that was purchased by my parents over 40 years prior. Brian was excellent, he reviewed our situation, explained all our options, helped us find the best approach, educated us continuously throughout the process, kept us updated on all progress, kept the case moving, and went over and above to take as much of the burden of the case off my Mother and myself. Brian works in real time, we never had to wait hours or days to hear from him if we had a question, he spent several hours throughout the case on the phone with me, explaining the process and providing expert advice, he connected us to additional expert attorneys as needed and coordinated all the information and documents for us. This was a very emotional situation for us and Brian was supportive and compassionate but was able to keep us on a fact focused professional level. We would recommend anyone who is dealing with Estate planning, a will to probate or other family issue in his field to talk to Brian.

There are those gifted individuals who craft in their field, beyond what is taught...that Is Mr. Bergen. His skill with language is a prized asset when it comes to patenting products. After working with Mr. Bergen I acquired 3 patents and enjoyed the journey through each step. Prior to selecting Mr. Bergen, I worked with 3 other attorneys in this field and all made me feel like I had to watch my every move because I was dealing with a "lawyer". With Mr. Bergen, I felt he was fair, honest, and brilliant. That combination made the process enjoyable and understandable when I had to write out the checks. I could not have picked a better fit for what I needed.

Fred has been my companies corporate insurance litigation attorney for the last several years and I have worked with him for the last two or three years. His very upfront, honest and responsive in getting back to me with questions, concerns etc. Fred was never late on any deadlines, his reports were always up-to-date and I was very confident and his recommendations to me. I don't believe that Fred did any unnecessary work and provided his recommendations on the direction my case could go and I made the final decisions. Fred works with a very large firm mostly doing insurance/civil litigation, but many of his associates do handle plaintiff work for auto accidents, and other types of lawsuits. I would highly recommend contacting Fred if you have any type of legal situation and if he cannot assist you, Fred knows numerous attorneys in Dallas and he will refer you one that is known and reputable, not a bottom feeder. If you want an attorney who will take the time to explain things to you and the common English and not legal terms, give Fred a call.

I had an issue with a very good client of my company regarding a reduced flat rate agreement we had entered into for an upcoming project. The agreement was for 1/2 up front and 1/2 at the end of the project. The project was about 65% complete when they decided to pull the plug. The client then did not want to pay the remaining 1/2 they agreed to. Joe helped us resolve this issue with our client in such a way that we received our money and were able to keep our relationship the client intact.

I purchased my first house a year ago and found out shortly after that the seller did not disclose water leaks or mold and in fact tried to cover this up. Collen came to the rescue and helped me through every step in the process. Collen and his team were there whenever I had questions regarding the case and issues from the remediation company all the way to the contractor that finished the build out. Every step of the way Collen was there. Being that it was my first house I really did not want to take this case to trial and it be dragged out for years. Collen was able to settle the case after a couple of months and the settlement was very satisfactory to me. I felt that in any situation Collen would always make time for his clients. I would highly recommend Collen to anyone that has dealt with construction problems. He really knows his stuff and the process.

I have had the opportunity to work with Patricia on two separate occasions: a contentious and complicated partnership dissolution, and a subsequent real estate transaction. In both matters she exhibited a very high level of organization and attention to detail. She acted proactively to initiate communications with myself and outside 3rd parties to secure decisions and arrange documents necessary to keep the ball moving. She kept me informed with concise and frequent communications which was incredibly valuable since I was 1,200 miles away during the entire process. Her legal knowledge and counsel provided me clarity and options which made my decision making much easier. Throughout it all she conducted herself with professionalism and grace and was always available to speak with me when I called. I could not be happier with the outcome of both matters that she worked on for me and I highly recommend to her to any client, current or future employer without reservation. She is a credit to her field and her firm!

I am a retired Stanford professional. When I needed a securities fraud attorney I did my research and it lead to me to two securities fraud attorneys, A Stanford law school grad, and attorney Tracy Stoneman. I initially leaned toward the Stanford grad in San Francisco, but several things changed my mind. The attorney in San Francisco , the Stanford grad devoted only 50% of his practice to securities fraud. After speaking with him I knew he is well versed in securities Fraud. I then spoke with Tracy Stoneman at length. I learned she is extremely well versed in securities fraud and 100% of her practice is dedicated to securities and investment fraud. We spoke for a couple of hours about the ins and outs of bringing a tort on my behalf, the legalities involved and the strategy she saw best for my case. My choice was very clear after speaking with Tracy. I am forever grateful to Tracy for taking my case. Any call or email I had for Tracy was promptly answered with detailed information. During the course of my case we regularly exchanged emails. Opposing counsel told Tracy the manager of the brokerage who I was dealing with was terminated for not meeting corporate expectations. Tracy wanted to see the exact HR report on his termination, especially since the brokerage manager was the one advising me. Opposing counsel refused. Tracy told me that isn't good enough for her. After she insisted and threatened to subpoena opposing counsel for the branch manager's reason for termination, the record was released to her. Per his termination he was desperate for money and going to his subordinates asking to borrow money. When confronted by his superior of this serious breach in policy, he lied. He was consequently terminated. Tracy dug and dug and dug, revealing many inconsistencies in the opposing counsel's statements. One such statement was what did the branch manager have to gain by taking in my six-figure deposit. What did he have to gain? Tracy discovered an internal sales contest memo that showed the branch manager was in a sales contest for new deposits. Tracy revealed 1/3 of his previous years income came from getting new deposits. He did it regardless of what it would take to get new deposits or the cost to his clients. My time in court has since ended by almost a year. Recently, Tracy texted me to see how I was holding up during the coronavirus. She knows I have some underlying health issues that make me vulnerable. Tracy is a sincere, beautiful person who has a deep care for her clients. She just doesn't take on a client, earn her fee and move on. Tracy is truly invested in her clients' well-being. I can say without reservation give Tracy a call. You won't regret the call or if you retain her, her dedication to your case. Brad

Ms. Gibson presented a non-confrontational approach in representing my position to senior management regarding unacceptable management practice in the mid-level area. The approach was successful on several points. It was non-threatening to senior management. It provided a win-win opportunity. It presented undeniable facts in a manner that eliminated threats and emotion. It got favorable results.

I had the privilege of retaining Mr. Bishop for a Civil matter that I was involved with in Texas, even though I a resident from out of state. He came highly recommended from a lawyer that I knew in another state and he did not disappoint. Exceptional knowledge of the law and obvious experience in dealing with all manner of cases. He treated my case like it was the most important one and treated me with respect and courtesy, and as a client, that is all I could ask. Even though the majority of our communications were telephonically, I always felt that Mr. Bishop was engaged and had my best interest in mind. I have dealt with others lawyers in the past who I felt could care less other than cashing the retainer check, so I had a wary feeling at first. However, Mr. Bishop is unusual in the fact that he "cares" and "listens" to what an his client says. I would recommend highly as well. Ultimately, my case was settled and I thank Mr. Bishop and his exceptional staff for a job well done.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:

Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
