Attorney Cyril Hall is an outstanding, caring attorney who fought hard for my family. My brother John was struck and killed by a distracted driver in Georgia, as he was crossing the street. Mr Hall contacted attorneys in Georgia to work with him, and obtained settlements for my brother's widow and his three daughters. I highly recommend Attorney Cyril Hall. He will find a way when it seems there is no way!!

I went in for a consultation and he was the most unprofessional lawyer to date! He had no respect for my time and took calls while I was talking, not even excusing himself. He then proceeded to blame me for waiting to long and then decided he was going to "help" me out by defending me. NO THANKS!!

Will take your case if he thinks it will settle. If it doesn’t, will not be prepared for trial and tries to get out of representing you. Key witnesses were not brought in to testify. And he doesn’t care that he just devastated your entire life. Please go to someone else.

I contacted Courtney regarding a case, and they informed me that they had an expert review my medical records. I signed release forms so that they could get all of the medical records for review, in addition to those I already provided. I was told the expert said I had no case, but it was for the wrong issue. When I asked Courtney and his legal aid Jim Orr numerous times if they asked the expert about a very important piece to the case, they never replied. I also asked them numerous times if they had requested some vital records for review, they wouldn't respond. I asked for a copy of those records, no response. I asked if it was possible for me to confirm that information with the medical expert and they did reply that it is not the usual policy and that I would have to pay for the experts time. I agreed to pay because I wanted to confirm that they actually contacted an expert, received my medical records, and gave the correct information regarding why I wanted to sue. But, no response. Which leaves me to believe they can't be trusted. Beware.

Case was for low amount but defendent had unlimited funds to spend. Mr Morgan spent many hours negotiating and keeping clients informed. Had to deal with three different defendants and lawyers. I thought case was too small and drawn out to be worth Mr Morgan's time. He insisted on continuing and eventually settled in our favor.

If you don’t mind things getting dragged on and on and him NOT being transparent(for his own selfish reason), then by all means hire him. He does not look out for your best interest, just his own.

I couldn’t say it better then the review from fedric in March 2017 Outrageous fees, not understanding of people situations, rude, and condescending. Divorce is scary and confusing your lawyer should be there for support and guidance. All she cared about from the get go was when she was going to get paid. From August 1-8th she has charged me 6500 for emails and 2 phone conversations Now she has filed a motion to get her payment of 6500 because I couldn’t pay her right on the pointe. Who could?? not to mention I am already at 10,000 I paid her and we haven’t even met with my wife attorney yet 16500 even before negiotions started with my wife and her attorney. Broke and out

Outrageous fees for mediocre service with someone with whom communication is impossible. It is impossible to communicate with Lisa Archer. She never pauses while speaking, even when you try to say something to her. She charges outrageous fees for mediocre service ($200+ for reading an email or taking a phone call). Meetings are extremely expensive because she never stops talking, stating the same thing over and over. My divorce cost me over $15,000 when it should have been a third of that. No children involved. Only marital items to split. I would never recommend her.

For $2000 he could show up late to the hearing and side with the other party. And then ignore you until you finally get a hold of him and then he told me that the judge just don’t like you and that he can’t really do anything for me. never mentioned about filing an objection or changing judges.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
