Thank you both to Attorney Conor Stewartson and Paralegal Diane Barrera at Colorado Legal Defense Group for representing our daughter in her criminal defense case.
My husband and I spoke to several Attorney firms to help us and after speaking with Diane and the Intake Attorney Cole Presnell, we decided to go with their firm. I can honestly say that Diane was key in helping us make the decision to use their firm. She was very understanding and genuinely cared, being a mother herself. She was available early on and even followed up to make sure we landed safely in CO that same evening to be there for our daughter.
Conor was assigned to our case and I was advised although he was new with the firm he had an extensive background as a Criminal defense Attorney. Initially, I was concerned w/him being new to the firm but after speaking with him, doing a background check and reading up on him, he put those concerns to rest.
There were times it was difficult to get a hold of Conor but my understanding was his contact phone was still being setup at the time, since he was new w/the firm. But he did return my call when I really needed him over the weekend on a late evening. Also, Diane was always available even on weekends (not normal or expected) and kept the communication going if Conor was not available due to being in court or working w/another client.
Ultimately, the outcome of our case was in our daughter's favor and it was completely dismissed all due to the hard work of both Conor and Diane. Their skill set and ability to do what they do, fighting on our daughter's behalf produced the best outcome possible and we are so thankful to them both!
The billing process early on was easy and in speaking w/Diane that was not even a concern at the time with what was going on. Which truly shows the caliber of the firm and their people as a whole of who they are and what they are about.
We are thankful to both Conor and Diane and are truly blessed to have been represented by them, but as I mentioned to Diane, we pray we never need their services again! But would definitely recommend them and the firm if we ever needed legal help.

I was in a real pickle. I was hit by a drunk driver, acquired a life changing traumatic brain injury from the accident. I lost my high salary job and the ability to get back to any form of work. Although my husband is successful, he couldn’t afford to absorb all of my personal debt and obligations in addition to his own monthly obligations. We were trying to sell things, including our beloved vintage car, to cover the gap of my lost salary and we’re just not able to make things work. It was devastating.
My personal injury attorney handling my car accident case referred me to Berken and Cloyes, having heard tremendous things about them. So, I called and Stephen met with me right away. Grant was beyond helpful with my son’s ticket he received as a result of an accident while he was on vacation in Colorado. I called Grant based on a referral from a trusted source, and WOW!!! One of the best referrals I have ever received. He is very quick to respond to questions, concerns and is so amazing to work with. We had to get the ticket resolved in a timely manner due to my son’s commitment to leave for basic training 4 days after the required court date. I had Joe Elio for my highly contest custody case for ~4yrs. At first, he started to be good at negotiating several stipulations but when it came to going to trial, he and his team did the minimal work which resulted in losing the hearing and Joe E. throwing a literal temper tantrum in front of the judge. If you are going to trial, don’t use him or his firm. He is ok at negotiating. Recently found out that the Privet investigator who referred Joe E to me no longer does business with him nor refers him to her clients.
