Attorney Griffin, he's great about getting paid with nothing done on your behalf. Out of my fee paid, I got 2 office visits and 2 phone calls. Money not spent well. It was all yes until the pay cleared. Not a great choice at all.

Samantha Andrew’s assistant very rude lady.!!! Talks to you with an attitude. Very unprofessional does not know how to speak to clients nicely. No matter the issue between the client & attorneys office there’s no reason why you should be speaking in such ugly and unprofessional way. I contracted miss and had to go to emergency. Step brother said his mom was trying to find somewhere to go. I laid all day at the rocket convince store. Angie the manager and a former boss was also helping to find someone. I thought it would be better to have someone in a house watch him. Not a homeless friend. I was abused in hospital nurse gave me an option to leave , so I did. I told my ex boss absolutely not I did not want Paige to look after my boy Jax. She had to many animals of her own to burden her with a other. Anna a customer whom lived a Ross the street from rocket came to me and said if you need someone to watch him I will. She looked like an honest person. So I agreed. While in hospital I was informed that Jax escaped trying to find me 3 times so Angie gave him to Paige. When I called to have him brought to me she said she was going out with a friend she hadn't seen in 30 years. So I hobbled from Lindo lake to the rocket . Angie called Paige and informed me she would drop Jax off at 7. 7 came around no Jax. I got a ride from Tony the produce man. I told Paige I was here to pick up Jax. Angie told me you'd drop him off at 7. She .mumbled something to the effect she didn't have time for this and that's not what she told Angie. She told me one of my homeless friends picked him up. She gave my beloved precious dog to a co.plete stranger. I took care of him we loved each other so much it's hard for me to move forward.

Catherine is the only lawyer (out of close to 20) that would actually speak to me on the phone and answer my questions even before I made an appointment with her. She is very knowledgeable regarding the law and has many superior suggestions on how to handle things. She explains things so I can understand them and proves to look out for the best interest of my family. My case will be handled in a different state so I could not hire Catherine full time. She knew this after the first consultation but still speaks with me and answers all questions I have. She has worked with me on payments as well. She truly is someone who cares and is compassionate. She's not out for your money but out to help people. Thank you, Catherine. You have been such a blessing to my family.

After my dog was stolen in Maryland, the theif fled to California and I had to enroll the order to get my dog back in California. Ms. Winn seemed professional at first, but after about a week, she stopped contacting me. I made sure to call at least once a week to make sure everything was rolling along smoothly. Trying to get anyone to call me back at that office was like trying to get a teenager to call home. Impossible! I don't know if it was a lack of organizational skills, poor customer service, or that the company is just to high on itself to care about their clients. I voiced my concern about their poor service constantly in a hope that maybe, just maybe, they'd start being a little more attentive. Nope! My dog was finally picked up and the sheriff said they would fax the release form to the lawyer's office and all I had to do is take it with me to the kennel. The lawyer's office emailed me the release only after I had started driving for a few hours (so I couldn't sign it or print it), which isn't too big of a deal. What upsets me is that I called to make sure somebody was going to meet me at their office before I left and they agreed, and then wouldn't return my calls for the three days after. Three thousand miles later and no answered phone calls, I contacted the sheriff to have the form sent to the kennel. The sheriff said they couldn't get a hold of Ms. Winn's office either. I ended up picking up the forms and my dog on my own because Ms. Winn and her associates are too incompetent to follow through with their empty promises. If you don't need to know anything about your case, they're fine. Otherwise, steer clear! I will say that they are professional enough to take a scolding without getting nasty.

I was involved in a divorce action a couple of years ago as my wife had assaulted me and was put out of the house. Unfortunately, the judge let my wife right back in 2 weeks later and because of my financial situation having children, I didn't feel as if I had any other app but to stay, to make surethey had a good roof over their head. Even though their mother has been totally abusive, things finally came to a head after 2 years of me. Sleeping on a sofa and having my wife. Bang and slam dishes everywhere. Keep in mind The police have been called to my house on many occasions, mostly by me or neighbors hearing her slam. The door not letting me leave. There's also an active investigation where she threatened my son.Let's just say with a very sharp utensil, some might say, even used to cut steaks with holding it within an inch from his stomach, saying she was going to kill him. This has all been filed in a police report. So I don't think there's anything that I can't say, as it's a matter of public record. The main point of this diatribe is that Mr. Griffith has not since released or told his client to send any kind of child support. She's been out of the house since October 27th. We are now on November the fifth I know. Most people like to be able to wipe their butt or have shampoo for their hair. Just a few of the basic routine items that everyone needs yet. He chooses not to return phone calls, text emails etcetera. So it's my understanding that these are public forums and I'm able to go on and write reviews of my own opinion again. I'm not a lawyer, but I can state what I know. And I know my experiences with this man. Beware, beware, beware. I would not hire this man not to collect garbage, not to clean a bathroom, not to do anything, as he seems to want to be a total money grabber.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
