Worst law firm ever. Supposed to be my brothers attorney and won't correspond with him or set up appointments or return calls or text with him. I would not use this law firm! 👎 Had no choice to give 1 star but in reality I give it Zero stars! 👎

I do not recommend this attorney. He failed my granddaughter totally. Couldn't even post this without giving one star but isn't even worthy of that.

Remember the article, trial lawyers don't have a track record of being very honest. The ethical violations and the toxic behavior in this agency that is going down on our tax dollars is absolutely despicable. We all studied ethics in political science and I am demanding that everybody in that office take a refresher course. Complaints have been sent to the disciplinary board.

Ross has expertise across many criminal defense fields and has represented myself two different occasions and has it made a huge impact in a positive way on my life when I needed it legal help for allegations that were not true. He was very thorough he was very honest in his own independent investigation so that he knew best how to handle my case is moving forward. His advice was very sound he always listen to my am put and we formed a plan As a team on what was best for myself and my future. He also made sure he contacted experts on matters that needed specialized input. He genuinely seem to care and I always felt like he had myself and my family’s best interest at heart. It was over a decade ago that I needed his services. I have since recommended him to several people who have or had nothing but positive experiences with him and he has helped be a voice of reason when sometimes you feel like you were just another number caught up in the legal system. At times he may seem rough around the edges but she is very caring and As intelligent as they come with regard to legal matters and I am proud to call him a friend

If you have a family member who has been arrested, this guy could care less unless you have BIG BUCKS. He was the court-appointed attorney for my family member and was VERY unresponsive. My family member only heard from him 2x in 5 months. He talked to him for about 10 minutes in these 5 months. This was after leaving voice mail after voice mail, begging him to call my family member back. Ross didn't return a single phone call to any of us family members when we had questions about the process. He basically threw in the towel on my family member and treated this person as if this case wasn't important enough to him. I am sickened by his lack of professionalism. He didn't try to understand my family member's issues or needs, nor did he care. BEWARE people.

He was supposed to protect my husband but now he has bankruptcy on his record, wiped out his second mortgage and foreclosures on your house. I filed individually and was not supposed to affect my husband’s credit. Plus I’ve been waiting over 3 months for money that was promised to me.

This law firm scammed me out of thousands and I worked off he clock trying to clean up the disaster. It is FULL of fraudulent federal funding advice and edits and deletion and exploitation of its clients vulnerable states of health and substance abuse. Bruce makes mistakes because he doesn't want to turn his wife in for Embezzlement, Fraud, Theft, and Mis-Handling of client funds and confidential information. She is an addict.

Hired him for a bankruptcy case. After giving a 2000 deposit, finding out that HE didn't think i was elligable. Cancelled my further procedures with him (him telling me "my time and paperwork is worth 1000") KEPT IT ALL AND WOULD NOT RETURN ONE PHONE CALL! Do not choose him unless you have money to lose! Crook! He's been barred from ND before. Watch yourself.

If I could give him no stars I would. We paid him $500 for nothing. We sent him all the paperwork he needed in June. We asked if there was anything else we needed to do and he said no. Then in August we sent sent emails and never hear back. Finally after leaving a few voice mails he left a message saying nothing has been done and thank you for reminding me about it. After all of that he couldn't get the case re-opened. Find someone else to hire. He is worthless.

My husband and I did an extensive search for an immigration attorney, we found Anna through a good recommendation but from the beginning she did not give me a good impression, she made an appointment with us for more than an hour and a half and she just went in circles the whole time, never getting a concrete answer, it does not seem like she has any knowledge of the subject and knows 100% of what she is talking about, after that appointment she charged us $300 for just talking more than necessary, she told us that if we wanted to be in charge of our process for my husband's green card she would charge a fee of $5000 (which my husband paid the next day) Mrs. Anna never sent a receipt that she had received the $5000 fee, she never said anything, after 1 month I contacted her to see if she had received the money and there was an option to start the process and she did not answer the phone or the emails that my husband and I sent her, we called her daily and nothing happened, a month went by until one day she finally responded giving an excuse that she was not a lawyer. Without any professional ethics, she said she had a client in jail and another client in the hospital (I don’t understand why she’s so busy), why is she seeing new clients??? Then she apologized and asked for a second chance (which I never agreed to), but my husband trusted her and gave her a second chance. Then I insisted on being able to have an appointment with her to see if we could finally start the process, she finally agreed but gave us a super random appointment because she said she was very busy, we got to her office and again she just went in circles, she never showed confidence in herself and she never showed that she was a good professional that we could trust, at the appointment she said that she was going to send us a link to open an account with immigration and a letter to go to some medical exams. Then 3 weeks went by and I never sent anything, for 1 week I've been trying to talk to her and again she doesn't answer the phone or emails, we tried to give all our trust to this lady who says she is very PROFESSIONAL but it doesn't seem like it, the truth is I'm very disappointed that she didn't take us seriously and we waited for her until the end, my husband and I decided to start the process with another lawyer who does have the time available for our case and we just want our money back. I don't recommend her at all!!!!!! I hope people like her aren't willing to have new clients and play with people's time, I never felt supported by her. I hope she gives us our money back because she simply did NOTHING!!! Bad experience with this person

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
