I used RS Johnson Legal P. C. for a closing on my personal property (seller's choice) that I was purchasing with my mom. After the closing the company sent out a check because we overpaid at closing. Once we deposited the overage in our bank account, RS Johnson called and stated that we deposited the check "with the wrong date". However, that was the only check they sent. RS Johnson Legal then proceeded to contact the bank and refuse to fund the money. So to sum things up, they sent a check for the overage paid, then refused to honor the check . I do not recommend this company or the experience they provide for myself, my family, or any of my clients. Please run while you can, and do not be defrauded by this company. I would give 0 stars if I could.

My closing was a little unusual and unique involving me as an executor of two estates and being the purchaser of one home. However, the RS Johnson Legal team made the process seamless and quick. My closing was completed in 45 minutes! My wife and I are very pleased with their awesome work!

John Mrosek came highly referred to me by a really great home inspector and all around good man as I was in the process of buying a condominium in downtown Atlanta. I had told my inspector some of the serious problems I’d been having with my “real estate agent”, a woman who was lazy, ALWAYS HOURS late for home tours AND who told me that I didn’t need to ask for an inspection or any due diligence simply because I was interested in purchasing a condo as opposed to a single family home. As a first time homebuyer, I believed her, plus it was my lender, First Community Mortgage who referred her. And so I signed a purchase agreement that asked for no due diligence and because she gave no guidance about request seller concessions, the agreement I signed asked for NOTHING from the sellers. As you can imagine, this was NOT at all in my best interest. And so after I spent weeks haggling with the AWFUL woman who was supposed to be my realtor, I was finally able to get her to ask the sellers to allow me to inspect the place. But she agreed to have an inspection done that would still leave the sellers free of any responsibility to fix or adjust their asking price based on the inspection findings. I shared all of this with my home inspector who was as kind and concerned as a grandfather. He immediately told me about real estate attorney John Mrosek. I reached out to the attorney and after a more than 1 hour phone consultation wherein I detailed ALL of what I was going through, he offered his services. He told me that his hourly rate is $300 and that he requires a 5 hour retainer fee of $1500 upfront in order to start defending me. I paid his retainer fee and he asked me to send every email exchange I had with her and her brokerage firm. There were plenty of emails. At a short point after I began forwarding the emails, he text me saying that I don’t want to use up all 5 hours on him going through emails!!! So, I stopped. As things worsened between me and my fake realtor, I kept updating John and asking for his LEGAL EXPERIENCE AND HELP! He suggested I use what he calls the “walk away method” wherein I’d email the sellers agent that I’m no longer interested in the property. I copied my fake realtor and John on this email. John replied to me saying in effect, “very good, you’ve got them right where you want them to be...” All of this was happening during the holidays of 2021. The sellers replied by saying that they would sue me for not honoring the terms of the binding legal purchase contract I had signed and that they would keep my earnest money. I emailed John with this info but he did not respond. I would not hear from John for the next 2 weeks, assumably because he was on holiday; but he never gave me a heads up that he would not be available. By the time I heard from John in the 2nd week of 2022, I had lost my earnest money and both the sellers agent and my fake real estate agent were threatening to sue me for commissions they would’ve receive had I closed on the date that had been set. John’s response to me was that my case “is not easy” and that I “sent too many emotional emails that were rambling...” I was furious! I asked John only 1 request, I asked if he would call a meeting between us, my fake realtor and the sellers agent so we might be able to come to an agreement. John responded saying that it might open a can of worms if he and I were to show up together; that it would cause the sellers to bring their lawyer. I was like, so? What’s wrong with that? This was my ONLY request and it was denied by John Mrosek. After this, about 2 solid weeks went by and I heard NOTHING FROM JOHN. I then emailed him saying that he was either dead, out of town or had given up on my case. No response. Another 2 weeks passed and so I sent him an email detailing all the money I had lost in my efforts to purchase the property and I added in his $1500 retainer fee as another chunk of wasted money. He refunded ONLY $420! Saddening.

Being in business for well over 25 years resulted in multiple needs for the services of a competent attorney. Lawyers who promise results but work little beyond filing form letters is my typical view of the disappointing results my company has experienced with the law profession prior to hiring John Mrosek. I commend and highly recommend John who proved to be the ONLY attorney that delivered highly productive results saving my company from nefarious or illegitimate lawsuits in several instances. John will not tell me what I want to hear but what I need to hear and do to gain resolution while shortcutting the often wasteful costs of moving a case forward through the system. From several (supposedly uncollectable) six-digit collection cases which were resolved in my company's favor to defending against frivolous lawsuits, helping us navigate the many legal hurdles to insure our business foundations and practices are solid and defensible to providing me with a comfort and security that we are a well run and honorable company. John Mrosek IS Great Bang For The Buck and very affordable. I am thankful for his service. John if you read this Thank You for helping me save my company and protecting our work force family....

Very unprofessional and incompetent at best! My husband used this firm for a DUI charge. He went through 4 attorneys before he was forced into a plea agreement. 1st attorney left the firm, we weren't notified, was only when my husband called that he found out that he was put on to a different attorney. After trying to contact the 2nd attorney to have some questions answered for weeks and being told the attorney one excuse after another a court date was set, at this point we were panicking because we had no idea what to expect in court. Hadn't even spoken to the 2nd attorney once. So stressful having never been in trouble before he had a lot of questions. The day before court the older Overman

My story about this lawyer is 90% exactly like one of another reviewer's story down to how much I have paid. To realize that the same exact thing just happened to me is unbelievable. Kelli Hopper was inconsiderate, showed no compassion, uninformative during my experience with her! She charged me over 9,000.00 for basically filing paperwork and mediation in which she was of no help. There was not much advising. A friend of mine also stepped in and I let her and her unprofessional services go. I was a single mom and needed legal help and she did nothing. I do not recommend her at all. She is too busy for her clients. And just like the other review, she didn’t even call and ask why I was dropping her, but she did charge me for her having to turn in the paperwork to remove herself as my lawyer and the text that I sent her. I would not recommend her to anyone.

The lawyer is very pleasant and respectful. I. My experience may not be your experience when I call this Law Firm I let Diego that my insurance would not be taken responsibility for this accident. I asked him if they could still represent me. He said yes, they would get a copy of the police report. And try to get the charges dismissed. My first meeting with the lawyer representing this Law Firm was with a young lady. She came late to the courthouse, she wanted me to fill out a pretrial intervention form. I informed her that I couldn't fill out that form because my insurance was not taking responsibility for this accident. She asked me how do you know the insurance company has to take a responsibility? I said because it's written on the the paper. She said well let's fill it out anyway, she filled it out. I asked the young lady to have Miss Duvernay call me. When Miss Duvernay called me, I said, I had informed you that I my insurance was not taking responsibility for this accident. So I don't know I can't do the pretrial intervention. She said, you didn't inform me because I don't answer the calls. I said well I am from Santiago, she said you mean Diego I said yes maybe we can get it dismissed on the fact that he didn't give you a police report. We're on the same page now I understand. Now before my next court date I called Diego to ask him to describe the person that was coming to meet me if it wasn't going to be Miss Duvernay. He said , well we only work with two other ladies so it would be one of them preview when I got to the courthouse a gentleman call me on the phone asking me where I was located. He said I'm here to pick up the pretrial intervention form. I said okay I'm getting frustrated now I've already told Miss Duvernay is that my insurance is not taking responsibility for this accident. So he went and got a copy of the form, he said I read it I was hoping it didn't indicate that's the insurance had to take responsibility for the accident but it does. Miss Duvernay call me later that evening, she said, I thought you wanted to go ahead with it. I said that I can't do pretrial my insurance is not taking responsibility for the accident. A court date was set and missed, because I wasn't informed of the court date I just happened to check my mail, while checking my mailbox I realize that he got a failure to appear. The first thing I did was to send a message to Miss Duvernay. When she sent me a message back it started off with: "first of all..."The Law Firm did send a lawyer to go fix it. Her name Kristen Clark. I was told to wait for my next court date, the law firm would inform me. I did not believe them so I called for my next court date. They did not show, there were two other court date set they did not show for either one of those court dates. The judge even called the law firm they still miss the court date. It took a Google review Duvernay and the chargeback. She told me she had conflicts in the court should have known about it. There was only one problem she wasn't assigned to my case unless she was Kristen Clark. She did show up the next court date, but during the third Miss court date I was asked, if I wanted a public defender, I said yes. But when Ms Duvernay asked me to give her a chance I said okay since it wasn't her that was supposed to show up. Now I was told signed up with this Law Firm they would get a copy of this police report. But the public defender delivered it to me and I had to take it to the law firm. On the trial date we were supposed to meet at 9:15 because the trial was at 10:00. Miss Duvernay as with every court appearance we made she came at 9:40, I could excuse that but at 9:40 was when she told me all the evidence I had ,was usable. They had the information for a year. My Insurance indicated that they were looking at the cars damages. She did not ask for the pictures. So we went in the court with nothing. I had a diagram of the damage. Miss Duvernay asked, what's that? It was then I realized that nothing I uploaded was looked at.

I retained Cordell & Cordell to handle the litigation of my divorce, Nicholas Grenade has been my attorney for nearly the duration of this process. Now that my divorce is final I am very happy with the outcome! Mr Grenade handled my case very well and always kept me informed as new information arose. I appreciate how he would present me with pro's and con's of each situation and allow me to make an informed decision as to a certain direction to take or tactical decision. Mr. Grenade's experience and knowledge helped my case immensely ! I would recommend Cordell & Cordell to any man facing such a life changing decision.

I have nothing but good things to say about my attorney Nicholas Grandade at Cordell & Cordell in Fayetteville Georgia. In the beginning of my divorce, I hired an attorney from a different firm. My experience was terrible to say the least. I decided to do some research and went in the direction of Cordell & Cordell. Nick has been prompt and very straight forward when it came to how we should proceed with my case. I've been working with Nick for over 2 years now and he is quick to answer questions and always gets back to you in a reasonable amount of time. My ex-wife had the mind set from the beginning to take me for everything I had and thanks in large part to Nick and his knowledge of Georgia law that was far from the end results. I couldn't recommend a better lawyer to represent a man in a court system that favors women no matter the situation.

I would not recommend this firm at all. Merideth ran up the bill to an exuberant amount of money. My daughter is still with out her children on full time basis. Total waste of good money spent for very poor representation.

If you want a washed up attorney, that will destroy your finances and make your divorce an easy street for your opponent, this is the guy. May have been a great attorney at some point but now he is a rusted out thief that makes your case a win for the other side. CAUTION, use another firm.

1) As a client of Phil Coe, I did not receive a broken down bill until after 3 months and never for the 1st month of work after repeated requests. 2) Coe did no discovery work at all on my ex 3) there were two hearings set for a final hearing. Nothing came of these hearings and I was not informed. However, I was charged exorbitant fees for the extensions - dragging out what was a painful case that could have easily ended while piling up fees 4) Coe advised me to drop a violence suit in lieu of a permanent order that would be rolled into a divorce so I wouldn’t have to return for protection each year. This was even settled out of court. I trusted it would offer protection; however, when my ex broke this order and I called the police, there was nothing filed for them to see that would offer me any kind of protection. My new attorney who ended up helping me end my case stated that Coe’s advised civil order was a mere ‘promise to be nice’ and completely unenforceable. I had to then return to court to get a formal order of protection. I had asked to focus on the divorce throughout. 5) much of the stalking I faced was technological. An officer and my new attorney stated much should have been followed up on that was not. Coe did nothing but charge me outrageous fees to look at the new evidence but did nothing to enforce the order to offer any kind of protection, even when my ex’s phone was still shown monitoring my daughter’s phone via her iMessage. 6) knowing the legal expenses of the stalking and harassment, and not having shared these with me, Coe only asked 1000 of my ex, leaving me with a bill over 10K for protection and postponed final hearings when I sought his services to be safe. No victim should ever have to suffer financially as a result of abuse.

I hired Mr. Coe to help me get more parenting time with my son because my ex-wife was being difficult. After 2 years before finally scheduling a Hearing, and approximately $20k paid to him in fees, he was disqualified from the case for Conflict of Interest. He hired a Paralegal that he knew previously worked for my ex-wife's previous attorney. He did not take appropriate action, per the State Bar, to protect me or my case by not notifying me, or the other Council by written notice. This paralegal had access to my case files as she admitted to printing all my files. This Paralegal also had a friendship relationship with my ex-wife. During the Hearing for the Disqualification, the Paralegal admitted to sharing hundreds of txt messages with my ex-wife. Under duress, I had to quickly hire another attorney and subsequently lost my case.

In September 2014 we filed a Chapter 13 with this firm. At first everything seemed ok; then around March 2015, their inept staff (including attorneys) began to make monumental mistakes with our case. Being a Paralegal myself I was well aware of the importance of providing proper documents and timely filings with the court; not to mention prompt follow up and adequate research. Long story short, they failed to make filing deadlines and provide previously supplied documents to the Court & the U.S. Trustee. As such our case was dismissed, and we didn’t even know it. In June 2015 we received attorney solicitation mail informing us that our case had been dismissed. Albeit they begged us to come into the office to fix it, we hired another attorney. Our new attorney was shocked beyond belief at the debacle that they created and proceeded to fix their mess. In July 2015, she successfully filed a Chapter 7 out of the mess they made. In August 2015 Golden filed a fee application to the funds in the Trustee’s coffer, which had been accumulated from the Chapter 13. At the direction of my new attorney I drafted and filed an objective motion in an effort to preclude them from receiving the $3000 that they did not deserve. The court had set a date to hear the objection, but on the day of, the clerk called my attorney and instructed us not to come. The Judge gave an ultimatum; either he call a special set hearing to address the objections that I had raised, or give us our money back. Golden opted for the later and returned all of our money because they knew they were guilty of everything that was spoken of in that objection. My new attorney was ecstatic and very proud of the work that I had done. (Mind you I am not a Bankruptcy Paralegal so the success of this was purely of a divine nature.) In November 2015 our case was discharged and we are now debt free. As for C. Golden, well, at last check they had to go back to court to deal with the allegations cited in my objection but we weren’t required to be there we were only noticed. August 2016, I see that they have changed the name of their outfit to the Kelly Law Group. I suppose they will rob people under a new identity now.

after spending 3 hours in her office from 6-930pm , her ridiculous team talked my wife and i into signing up. we thought they were nuts!! but we believed them. they lost many papers we had given to them. they lost valuable information. i went to the trustee meeting without the proper info. finally, they left out of the chpt almost $900 dollars. so far, they have not returned our cars, only to throw us 'under the bus.'

We initially hired Paul Liston to aid in a simple legal issue; and after multiple clerical errors, phone calls not returned, and requiring three requests over the period of one week to receive a receipt for services, we decided to go another direction for legal services. Of the money we initially paid, he insisted upon keeping the majority of the money to include time spent fixing mistakes made by his practice. Also we were able to show time billed for phone conversations was quoted to be 3.5x the actual telephone conversations. [info redacted]

I have not had a very good experience with having him for my attorney/public defender. I've been trying for a couple months now to contact him I have had family and friends try to contact him and still nothing. No email or phone call back. We have tried the court house and every where possible. I honestly do not know what to do. I know im not the only one that has him and has had trouble getting in touch with him. No one else can either.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
