I hired Kimberly Mayhew to handle my trust that was unethically changed by my stepmother. She made it seem like we had a good case at first but after charging us an obscene amount of money for going over less than 50 pages of docs, she told us we didn’t have a solid case. She then had the audacity to charge us for our free consultation. When I asked her to explain why, she never responded. Definitely wouldn’t recommend hiring this bottom feeder.

I’m not typically one to leave reviews but I feel it is necessary to warn anyone who is considering Spencer Gong as their lawyer. I have been trying to contact him and his office about my case for over 3 months now, left multiple voicemails but no one ever returns my call sand now their machine is too full; it’s gotten to the point where I’ve personally tried going there and now they’ve locked the office door and won’t let anyone inside. I understand that lawyers are busy but to not even be able to make an appointment and get ignored for over 3 months is just ridiculous. I can’t hire another lawyer since my case is “too old to take on,” Im living in constant pain and they’re not even fighting for me anymore… I’m honestly ready to close my case, which Is impossible to even do! I know there’s more I want to say but I’m too frustrated and hurt to even put it in words. Just stay away.

If you can choose a different lawyer or attorney I recommend you go elsewhere. No type of communication and really doesn’t help you with your case. I feel like they have been trying to pressure me into signing, the first time I went into the office the first thing Spencer told me was “you are not going to get rich over this” I never said I was and never planned too I was just looking for a “good” lawyer to help me with my case. I am now living with constant back pain and this office doesn’t seem to care not once did they call me to check up on me or ask me if I had any questions I was the one that would call and no one would answer. I also called and was able to talk to a lady I don’t remember her name but she told me “ you don’t need to be calling us if we need anything we will call you” I just wanted to check the status. This office doesn’t really fight for you and honestly I feel like they are more on the insurance side then on the injured workers. I don’t recommend them if you can go elsewhere just do that.

Returning phone calls is not their top priority. It can be flustrating at times. I do not live in fresno. I wanted to talk one on one and get the name of the person who was working my case. I found his staff to be courteous and help full. After talking to my case manager, I always got and answer for my question, even though I still had to call the office. Some comp. case's take a very long time to settle. They are not just cut and dried. There are many legal issues to resolve. I found this law firm does not take any short cuts and they work to make sure you receive every thing you are entitled to. I did not meet Mr. Mong'e until the day of my hearing. I was very impresses with his professionalism. He will explain what will happen when he takes you before the hearing Judge. My case was settled that day. It is hard to be patient when you don't understand the legal process but this Law Office will represent you'r interests in the best possible way. My case took over two years.

I have been ongoing with my case since 2011. I am so disappointed with this firm. I have to be the one to always call them. And they say I will call you back and they never do. There is never any resolution to anything. They never follow up unless I call them to see if they contacted the adjuster or anyone else. I have never been through a worker's comp case, but I am sure that things should not be handled as they are. And it seems to me that all they care about is there money. And not fighting my case. I just wish this would be over soon.

I became a client in 1997. My case is still ongoing. Need I say more? No return phone calls unless I send a certified letter. My comp carrier has deep pockets that we bailed out a few years ago. They have stopped providing my medications and when I call Monge's office I am told it's my doctors fault. No, it's my attorneys fault for not making them do what they are required to do.

Marcia Price "through me under the bus", in case back in 2002! As result of her ineffectiveness of counsel, I spent 33 months in county and prison! I found evidence during my trial, that should have impeached my ex-wife's testimony, just to find out, the judge(Lawrence Jones), would not allow it in court! She failed(I found out later), to do an "offer of proof", for the record, making the judge explain why he was not allowing that relevant evidence into trial, for the appeal process. This get's even worse. Not only what the Judge did was illegal, the prosecuting D.A. knew of this evidence(side bar), as well. Lisa Soundergard is now running for DA, here in Fresno, Ca. I have proof of what took place, in my transcripts. No attorney would take my case, unless I paid them $30,000 or more to fight this again. Do not trust this lady with your life.

On February 4, 2019 I pretty much lost my life. Definitely anything of value that I had earned up to that point was either gone or on the verge of being gone due to a stabbing at my business. I used reviews to find a good attorney and it seemed Jeff Reich was the one. After I retained him strangely that very night or the next I ran into him and I guess a couple of his friends at a local restaurant and he met my wife and our five kids, even my mother and I thought at that point wow I’ve got the best guy because he sees I’m just a regular guy with 5 small kids. I could not have been more mistaken if I had tried! And as I sit here having just looked up his reviews again I cannot say how stupid I feel for missing some of the bad reviews that were already out there. I think I need an attorney so bad and I was stressed out I missed those very obvious already existing bad reviews. One reviewer mentioned he took the food out of her children’s mouthes, and that must be a true review because similarly Jeff told me today “what do you think I’m going to feed your five kids?” No Jeff. I just hoped you were a decent man. Without getting too much into how nasty the last two years has been including he and his staff lying to me. Multiple different lies but the one that hurt the most was a lie that he could get me a loan to help out with my business that turned out to be completely false. I also got a terrible taste of how shady people can be when he had me sit on a long phone call three-way with Stanford university where his assistant was trying to get me in but she was lying through her teeth to do it and win the Stanford person would ask me questions I told the truth and so we couldn’t get in. Did you guys really expect me to lie? Evidently you did. So my review would match several of the other reviews out there but unfortunately mind I feel took a real dark turn recently. All of a sudden out of the clear blue sky Jeff fires me. Gives me a couple different reasons that don’t make sense as to why he’s firing me. And then I find out I’m getting kicked out of my business because since he fired me and the other side of the lawsuit we are involved with now sees that I have no attorney they are attacking me. He has spoken highly of one of the attorneys on the other side‘s team and referred to him as hey friend. One really have to wonder just how good of a friend when I get kicked out without enough time to do anything about it. So what part of my life didn’t get wrecked on February 4, 2019 my attorney that I trusted with my life just decided to wreck the rest of my life. And when I tried to nicely speak to him today and show him the new paperwork I received he only made ugly comments such as I don’t do pro bono and what do you think I’m going to feed your five kids? So yes people I sincerely hope you do better than I did when looking at the reviews out there on attorneys. I cannot tell you how ignorant I feel sitting here seeing reviews that are saying basically what I said but those reviews were written five years ago! It seems the five star reviews with no comments are probably just friends of the staff or Jeff himself. Because the reviews with statements are all negative. And although I can’t comment on other peoples experiences I can say that the events that began my downfall were bad enough but it was what my own attorney has done or didn’t do that has really destroyed me. Furthermore I would be careful of hiring the other people in his office because they all review each other’s cases and so clearly those two other attorneys had an influence on what Jeff has done to me. Otherwise I don’t know why Jeff regularly said he had to consult with the other two attorneys. So please folks really take time when you study the reviews and don’t do like I did and hire an attorney to fast because you’re scared or stressed out like I was. Because I really wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to have happen to them what has happened with me w/ Jeff Reich.

Rodriguez was assigned to my prejudicial and unconstitutional case where it is on record I did not break the law. Evidence was withheld and obstructed. My two young son's were illegally placed (repugnant unlawful orders by Judge Gary Green) with my felon ex husband John twice incarcerated for assault and battery. Essentially kidnapped. Now it is public record John is trafficking them for money. The truth always comes out. You will always face God. You cannot escape God. No one is above the law and God... You will lose everything

This attorney and her son conducted estate planning without the rest of the family and left them with a bad plan. Two trusts were sold, only one was needed. Second appears to be fraud, so state bar was notified. Lawyers also failed to help stop cremation before autopsy, requested due to suspected poisoning. Even though I consulted with them about this, they stuck to their guns and failed to fix their mistake. I thought one trust with equal access to the estate sounded fair and more like the grantor wanted it. They really don't seem sympathetic and I would not use them or suggest them to anyone.

Hired her to assist with resolving a title issue and met with her on 2 occasions. Both meetings were confusing and unnecessarily complicated. Kept suggesting Probate and overlooked the best solution for our problem. Did nothing for us and charged an exorbitant fee with no result. Every quick e mail cost us $69.00. After 3 weeks and no satisfaction we were charged over $1600! Very disappointed and now have to start over in what should have been a simple process.

I met with this attorney during a scheduled consultation. Attorney presented in jeans and a t-shirt during our consultation. Attorney spent a considerable amount of time with me, exchanging sensitive information and documentation, with the attorney requesting and receiving documentation related to my claims. Attorney stated I would be contacted "within a couple of weeks." Attorney did not relay any information related to statutes of limitations or obligations as a claimant. After 3 weeks I began attempting to communicate with this attorney again. Over a period of 1 month, after the 3 week waiting period previously mentioned, I have attempted 3 phone calls and 2 emails through both this attorney as well as his assistant. Attorney and assistant have be non-responsive.

To start with It cost me $2000 in fees for Larry to find out that Calif does not require employers to furnish employee records to former employees.Any decent labor lawyer should've known that at the start, pretty BASIC. I have the correspondence if there are any doubts. He was never prepared for our meetings with CA.DFEH\EEOC.He adviced me one afternoon that my employer had offered a settlement of $1000.00 which I declined.I had him withdraw my complaint from EEOC and request their records to pursue civil litigation. When the records finally arrived from EEOC I found that the settlement offer was actually $10,000.00 Unfortuantely we were at the end of our relationship and I don't know what the explanation for that stupid mistake might have been.Wouldve loved to heard it

Irma Edmonds’s interactions are marked by a distinctive combination of rudeness, impatience, and hostility. Her communication style, characterized by curt responses and a lack of empathy, contributes to a challenging environment for those who interact with her. Her perceived impatience and rigid time management further complicates interpersonal dynamics. Understanding the underlying factors and exploring strategies for improvement could potentially lead to more positive outcomes and a more constructive approach to interactions. Addressing underlying stressors or dissatisfaction that may contribute to Irma’s behavior is another important strategy. Exploring stress management techniques, seeking support or counseling, and finding ways to address potential sources of frustration could help mitigate some of the negative aspects of her demeanor.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
