This lawyer is guilty of gross negligence in my case. I cannot believe all of the positive reviews here it's certainly not the person I hired. He will lie about paperwork and collect your money. I see his vehicle often in front of the oriental health spa. He's on a different medication every time I see him and thinks it's OK because some doctor gave them to him. He didn't show up for court and kept my money. I have nothing good to say and I believe everything the negative comments claim. His wife supports him unless he cons someone with lots of money. These good reviews are fake. Some day he'll reap what he's sewed.

I went in for a consultation for a divorce and while there i decided to hire Mr. THOMPSON. He quoted me a price and U brought cash to hum and paid in full within the week. Three months later I found out he never filed my papers and the attorney he was working beside said he owed him rent. I tried several times to get my money back with no effort and had to get another attorney to handle my case. I would never ever use hum nor recommend him to represent anyone..

I was alittle skeptical at first after reading a malacious review left by a client of his, but i was totally wrong about jason. He went above and beyond to put my two cases together after the courts still didnt have all my paperwork. He had them dig deep to get my files. Ive never seen a person like him get everything together on such short notice. I was faced with a huge ton of fines that got cut down more than half. He is very professional and very intellegient when it comes to law and music. This guy bent over backwards to help me get my sentence dropped and fines cut in half . He helped me so much to where i can get my life back on track. I will continue to refer him to any of my family and friends. Just be upfront and honest with him and he will work wonders for you. He definately had my back and instead of having to continue to waste my time in court due to lack of paperwork and to keep going he made it possible that day to where i had both cases put together so it would be done and over with. I was highly impressed with the outcome. Keep up the excellent work. You helped me get my life back and i am forever greatful. Your an amazing lawyer who helped change my life. Without your help, i wouldnt have gotten the best plea deals without you. Thank you jason thompson. My family and i thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now time to test your music skills big boy!!

Mrs. Lockwood-Sims is an attorney who listens to her client's concerns caringly and intently. She focuses on the details of each case and strives to represent her client's in a most professional manner. The atmosphere of her office is very calming and her receptionist who happens to be her mother is the sweetest lady. Mrs. Lockwood-Sim's caring personality and take charge attitude eases any anxiety and stress her client's may be experiencing.

Mr Parr seemed acceptable at first. However, he failed to finish the job. He just stopped working my case about midway through and also stopped returning my calls or emails without any explanation. As another reviewer also mentioned, his assistant Tammy was very gruff and rude. I paid him several thousand dollars up front, and he failed to deliver what he promised. Worst of all was the complete lack of explanation as to why he just quit. I would never recommend Dan Parr to anyone.

My husband and I retained Dan for a brief but extremely important family issue and he promptly helped us and gave us his personalized time and expertise. We really appreciated him working us into a busy work day and prioritizing what was a critical juncture for our family. I would recommend him and the Weaver law firm.

Ralph, is a thief. He will lie to you and tell you things he is Do I g that he is not just to keep charging you. He will tell charge you for things that he says the prosecutors are going to do in the future, that has not even happened yet, and probably never will. He took $10,000 from me and di nothing but get my court date put off, once I realized he was tr ying to extort money from me I fired him, he said he would pay me back what was owed to me and I never heard from him again. I am still waiting to see if tge guy has enough class to send me my money without me having to track him down like a criminal.

Attorney Villani is handling an Insurance case for me now and has previously handled both a Criminal Case for my son and a Civil case for my husband. He has been a true God-Send for me and my family; not just because he won the cases for us, Attorney Villani kept us updated consistently throughout the entire process. I personally don't like to deal with the court system and he has been very sensitive to that. I have nick named him "Heaven's Bull Dog" because of how he so aggressively fought on our behalf. My experience with Ralph has been great. I am going to make sure that my Pastor knows about this website. Attorney Villani handled a very complicated criminal matter for our Church. Our congregation was able to stand against the criminals who had a stronghold in the church. They lost, we won and our Church is doing great. Thank you God for sending us Ralph Villani.

While Jed is a very knowledgeable attorney, I feel he may have his hands full. It often seems like he has more work than he can handle. As with any decision, do your research and choose carefully. I have no regrets in choosing this attorney. Mr. Carter provided me with an excellent value for my case, and I have sent several people his way.

Hothem agreed to represent my son from start to finish for a flat fee which we paid upfront at his request. He did not do anything. He did not show up at court just sent a substitute attorney who we had not met and she did not learn about the case until the night before the first court appearance. After the second court appearance, which he did not show up for {sent a substitute), he called wanting more money. When I told him he needed to keep our agreement to handle the case from start to finish for a flat fee that had already been paid he said, "handle the case on your own and hung up on me". Very unprofessional and very rude!!

My case was simple, cut and dry. She charged me for things she did not do, billed me attorneys rates for work done by her paralegal, filed motions that were irrelevant, either did not know family law, or just over-charged, (or falsely charged) me to the point that she knew she would get fired and would not get before the judge. It took me firing her, hiring another attorney to get what she did straightened out. My new attorneys pointed out everything she did to me (NOT that I didn't already know). My case never even went before the judge and was considered "bogus" at best. Long story short....Drive by her "cubicle" (not even an office really) and keep on going.

This review is for Chandelle Summer. My girlfriend and I chose a consultation with Chandelle based on her proximity to my girlfriends home in Gainesville. We were seeking a simple enforcement action against an ex husband for not paying court ordered alimony. The jurisdiction is one county over in Forsyth County so before making the appointment we asked if she handled cases in that court and was told that she did. We were a bit surprised that the consultation fee of $250 was collected upfront, upon arrival, but thought little of it. We arrived at the appointment on time and Chandelle was late, we thought little of it as a successful attorney was bound to be busy. We brought all of the relevant files on a USB drive for Ms Summer's review but was surprised that she did not know how to view digital files on her office computer and had to call for her assistant. By now the red flags are starting to really pop up. We told her that we had called ahead about her working in Forsyth County and she then told us that she rarely if ever worked there and she did not know the judges but she was sure they had heard of her. After that she told us 3 separate stories of how she lost cases like this that she thought she should have won. We felt sorry for her and asked if she knew attorneys in Forsyth County she would recommend and she said she did not but gave us the name of a firm that might be okay. As we reflected on how bad of a consultation this was we decided to email Ms Summers and ask for a refund explaining that we had no problem paying her $250 if she was to represent my girlfriend as this would be part of case preparation. I am the owner of an online marketing company so I track all email opens, SHE NEVER OPENED OUR EMAIL MARKED "FOLLOW UP", which could have indicated that we were following up to hire her. After days of not opening our email, thinking this could be part of her computer illiteracy, we called the office and spoke with the receptionist to ask her to ask Ms Summers to check her email. She never did! So we copied the secretary with the original email, still no response, then made four phone calls, still no response. This is very poor treatment of a would be client. If you chose to use Ms Summer beware in her own estimation she loses cases she thinks she should of won, she may not respond to your questions, either by email or multiple phone calls.

Hired Mrs. Summer for a divorce, she didn't listen to me at all! She wasn't prepared for the trial and fumbled over a number of facts that were missed and should have been brought out. If I wasn't in such a hurry to get a lawyer, I would have done a better job selecting a lawyer.

I consulted with Mr. Kelley to review my options to erase a large debt that was not my fault. His website clearly states he can help resolve debt settlements. Instead he spoke directly of our option to be bankruptcy. I asked about helping me try to resolve the debt or get it resolved without bankruptcy and he said I did not need him for that. My husband said he was just “matter of fact”. I disagree. I found him condescending and he minimized my feelings about my situation.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
