Terrible Lawyer! He does not return phone calls, emails and has left a dear friend high and dry with no attorney to represent her. Twice he has left her without knowing if she is represented. He has been reported to the ethics board.

David Greenberg is a very upfront, informative attorney. We presented him with a case that he understood immediately and found a quick effective path to resolve. Attorney fees were fair and the outcome was successful for us. Very easy to communicate with David Greenberg; he returns calls immediately and was careful to include all of us in his emails and updates. Highly recommend this attorney.

I was referred to Mr. Greenberg after a previous lawyer left me very displeased. Mr. Greenberg and his office always responded to my calls and emails in a timely manner. They explained everything about my case and kept me in the loop as it moved forward. I will continue to refer people to Mr. Greenberg and his staff because they are honest and trustworthy.

This man David is very.... crafty. What I'm going to describe could possibly be classified as lying by omission. Or lying by assuming. Nevertheless... ITS A FORM OF subtle DECEPTION... in my humble opinion. In other words.... If he knows you are ignorant regarding a matter then he will take full financial advantage... if at all possible. And has no care whatsoever the impact on your finances so long as he can benefit. For example...and I did hire him as my personal attorney...I hired him to handle my divorce and he did. But the way he got a few extra thousand was he allowed my husband to call and ask him questions and talk and talk. And David told me (afterwards) that since my husband decided not to hire his own attorney he had a legal obligation to make sure my husband understood the legal implications of what he was signing even though we agreed to split everything on our own terms....in other words a consent judgment. Well that consent cost me nearly 20 grand. Yes 20,000 for a consent judgment. We never went to court. Not once. Just realize that every single phone call made to his office regarding your case is being billed to you.. whether or not it's you or someone else calling or visiting. Even your unreptesented husband. YOU ARE BILLED . Even if your ex is long winded and is trying to run up your bill! Are experienced lawyers ignorant to this tactic? I'm sure they had and may still have plenty laughs at my expense. He never told me he was billing me for my husband's calls and visits. If I would have known I would have told him not to speak to him....AT ALL. And someone with next to zero experience with lawyers and their billing schemes really can be taken advantage of easily. He did tell me my husband called sometimes but never told me...."hey look I'm going to have to charge you for his visits and phone calls." He just did it and assumed I knew and assumed I was ok paying for his time with the one I was divorcing. The reason....because he didnt have his own attorney and supposedly that obligated david to him on some level. instead of telling my husband to go hire his own atty because he was already hired to represent me he thought i was fine paying him several more thousands for my husband to Understand our consent agreement. The other way I was made to pay this was him failing to look out for my intrest by telling me that half of his bill was also a community expense and I could have made my husband pay his fair share of the bill. Esp since he simply refused to hire his own lawyer and was using David at my EXPENSE. Pretty cheeky. So I paid nearly 5000 or more than I should have because of these omissions and assumptions. Pretty generous of him Eh? On the other hand if you want to demolish your opponent then David Is your guy. He would have been happy to take my ex to the cleaners if only I'd have been willing to crush him utterly. Instead he took me. Either way he satisfied his greed. Buyer beware... Put it this way...there's a reason Jesus said what he did about the lawyers of his day.And not much has changed.

He would have been happy to take my ex to the cleaners if only I'd have been willing to crush him utterly. Instead he took me. Either way he satisfied his greed. Buyer beware... Put it this way...there's a reason Jesus said what he did about the lawyers of his day.And not much has changed.

Ms Denicholas will represent you in court. But her word is not trustworthy. She does not follow up with her clints. And when she agrees, get it in writing before leaving the court room. Because she will never take your phone calls or return emails or texts. When the court says shes your attorney after your sentence. You or on your on. Please don't let her do this to you. Don't hire her.

Ms Madere is disorganised and chaotic. She has a problem with communicating and does not respond to emails and phone calls unless she wants to. She was unprepared for court hearing and added stress to an already stressful situation. I did get the result I wanted in my divorce and custody but not thanks to her. She should probably retire, look elsewhere

Counselor failed to answer requests by opposing counsel while under retainer. Failed to file contempt after multiple instances where I didn’t get proper visitation as ordered by the courts. Was completely unprepared for trial, had to request continuation. Hired a PI who informed her evidence we were seeking would need to be attained by subpoena, she failed to subpoena this evidence to be prepared for next court date. Did not communicate with me for over next three and a half weeks leading up to new trial date. Called daily, emailed daily, no response. Charge me for unanswered emails asking if she had the time to work my case! Admitted she couldn’t handle the case and then proceeded to ask for more money. Basically she quit working my divorce, but kept stringing me along. Had face to face sit down where she began to curse at me and tell me what my problem was when I questioned her about the lack of communication and failure to file contempt on multiple occasions. Said we were out of money and told me I was broke and she felt bad asking for more money. That would have been vital information to know she was throwing in the towel in lieu of additional funds. Always added funds every step of the way! Very unprofessional. Do not recommend. Negligent, does things her own way, does not listen, unorganized, procrastinator. Does not have the capacity to go to trial. Seek other counsel!

I had a difficult case to begin with. I was suing a dealership for a used truck I purchased and had problems with it from the start. The transmission crapped out on me in less than 500 miles as well as other power train problems. Max was very personable and hands on from the beginning. He was straight up with me and always kept me in the loop. He went for the jugular as far as getting the judgement I wanted. He won my lawsuit and made it look easy in the process. Several family members and coworkers referred me to max with high praise and stories of how he got favorable results for them as well. I was happy I chose him as my attorney. Hopefully I won't have need for an attorney ever again but if I do I won't hesitate to go to max for all legal problems. I highly recommend Mr. Max Chotto

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
