My sister-in-law passed away in February. I was one of the first employees hired at a large manufacturing company in my area. I worked 21 years without ever making any suit for some pretty bad injuries I had at work. Then I hurt my back one day lifting some parts when no one was there to help me. It was so bad I crawled to the office. After two weeks of being at home in bed and my last check cashed I had no income. The company kept telling me they sent my claim to thier insurance company. Months went by and our mortgage was way past due. The phone didnt stop ringing and I had to hide my truck from the repo man. My friend said to call Attorney Ms. Michele. I did and that day things started to get better. My Attorney filed cases and went to several hearings where I went to and told the Judge the story of my back injury. I could barely sit in the chair. The Judge said the company had made many mistakes in not giving me a doctor or money while I was waiting to see someone. He made an order and they had to pay me my back money and give me a doc. I needed surgery. Everything was fixed, we saved the house, still got the truck, my back is good again, still working the job. When I got injured, I followed all the rules with WC. I had no idea what I was doing and was left like a mouse on a wheel. I hired Felicia and things started to happen immediately...no more wheels. I got in to see a specialist and got the help I needed. If I asked for something of my doctor asked for something it was handled immediately or Felicia was on it. My husband was detained by ICE and housed in BTC in Broward, Florida for one year back in 2010. It was unthinkably the most difficult time of my entire life. I went through multiple Attorneys’ (four to be exact) who just took my money and did nothing to help. My husband was not even able to bond out of BTC until a year later. Thankfully, when he did, it was the utmost happiest moment of my life but we knew we could stay with the current Attorney we had because of all the issues and extra money she cost us by refilling petitions based on her own mistakes. We searched up and down for someone who had extraordinary credentials, references and experience. No one willing fully took our case because we had criminal issues, overstay issues, marriage while in detention, etc. Thankfully, we found Attorney Elan Baret. We did not have an easy case and it was voluminous with issues all over. We were completely out of hope and we thought that deportation or voluntary departure would be our only option. We had no support from family and small support from friends, we felt no where close to having a strong case or even a chance. When we first met Mr. Baret his calm and soothing energy renewed our hope and our faith in the US System. Mr. Baret did not run us in circles and he did not play games. He was very straight forward with what we needed to do in terms of paperwork, filings, etc. in order to make our situation satisfactory. I will begin by saying that in a time of need of a lawyer Sharif came highly recommended through a friend of mine who is also a lawyer, they had been in law school together and he said Sharif was by far the most brilliant and kind of all his peers,which speaks volumes. We went to see Caryn due to my father in law needing to go through a divorce. The divorce ended up being a fairly messy one due to my mother in law and at the same time my father in law was losing his house, going through kidney failure, had 9 toes and half a foot amputated. No matter what Caryn remained positive and any time we saw her she was always caring about his health. As the litigation goes on, I have seen him go from strength to strength, gaining one advantage after another. There is nobody I would rather want on my side in a deposition. Fernando was referred to me by a friend because she said he did a good job creating her trusts and I wanted a trust to protect our assets in case we got sued.
He also helped us design a will that 'poured over' into our trust so if my husband and I were to die, my son would get what he was entitled to without any hassles or legal costs.

I am so grateful to Rachel Alters and her staff for helping me with my uncle's claim! She was amazing. This was a very difficult case, because my uncle was mentally disabled. He had failed to immediately make a claim, because he was too disabled to even do the simplest of tasks. As soon as I found out about my uncle's disability policy, I called several attorneys. They were hesitant to work with my uncle, because of the extensive work involved with backdating his claim. I then called Dell and Schaefer and it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. They patched me through to Rachel Alters and the rest is history.
She worked diligently to backdate my uncle's claim and to secure his rights to future disability payments. We still have a long road ahead of us with regards to my uncle's disability, but I am so grateful to her for securing his right to disability payments. I came to Dell and Schaefer after an attorney firm in Maryland decided in August they could not win my case and dropped me, with my appeal for Long Term Disability due in mid October. I contacted Dell and Schaefer in a panic from an ad I found on the Internet, I got a call very quickly, we talked about my case and at that time I was informed that Rachel Alters would be handling my case, I got a phone call from Rachel, she made me feel at ease right away, and asked me to send all my medical information I had to the firm. Rachel explained to me it normally takes 4-6 months to do an appeal, but Rachel assured me she would do her very best to win with the limited time we had remaining to submit an appeal. Rachel worked very hard, we had many very long phone calls and emails, even though I have never met Rachel face to face I feel she is part of the family. I got a call from Rachel the beginning of December letting me know we won the case and that Aetna would be reinstating my benefits back to April when they had stopped benefits. I had just came home from Johns Hopkins Hospital from back surgery, and it was Christmas time, what a special feeling that phone call bought. There is nothing more I could ask for.
