The father of my child decided to file a paternity case in Texas (me and my daughter have always lived in California) and after talking to Matt on the phone - I knew he was the one to hire. We were both pretty much on the same page. Matt filed a Special Appearance on my behalf, wrote an amazing argument and I provided some exhibits. I was CONFIDENT that he would get it dismissed, however, we were really wanting to get the attorney's fees because of the dbag's wreckless behavior by filing the frivolous lawsuit. Matt was able to get the attorney's fees as well! It was VICTORIOUS!!! I did not have to make a trip to Texas. If you have jurisdiction issues in re: child custody matters, I would not hesitate to contact Matt! Apparently, he's done a few cases in regards to UCCJEA or state jurisdiction in general.

I was under a federal goverment investigation, which the result of a very complicated investigation with my former employer and Texas Department of Insurance. This went on for many years while being represented by attorney's that were provided by my former employer. I finally decided that things seem to worsen and I needed someone that would listen, hear me and would fight for my defense and not the company that I was employed by. I immediately retained Mr. Clark. I felt if I had any chance of being cleared of this investigation and getting my life back, I needed Mr. Clark to defend me. In mid of 2007, I was released from the goverment's investigation. All of the other parties involved were indicted and the company paid millions in fines that were a result of TDI,OCC,HUD,and OTS. I interviewed several attorneys and I chose Lauren because I felt she was confident, competent, and had the experience I was looking for. I consulted with Lauren several times before beginning the divorce process. Each time she was happy to discuss the facts and the process without pressuring me to make a decision. Divorce is a very delicate and difficult decision. It was important for me to be informed but not pressured. Lauren was great at accomplishing this. Once I made my decision Lauren was great at helping me move through the process. We discussed various approaches and I was able to make informed decisions on each aspect of my divorce. There was even one particular instance where we had a miscommunication and she was great about fixing it and clarifying what I wanted. Another important aspect of working with an attorney is billing. I like to feel that I am being treated fairly and not being overcharged. I felt that both Lauren and Vanessa(her legal aid) were extremely efficient and fair in the billing process. I was charged with a class 2 misdemeanor which I did not commit and Earl not only believed in me but fought diligently for my cause. Although the courts incompetency caused us to make four different trips Earl passionately stated my case each time until he wore them down and gained a dismissal of the charge against me. My experience with mr.parras comes after he was appointed to represent me on appeal out of the southern district of texas. From day one Mr parras showed his best interest in the outcome of this case.. I was charged with a federal 371 conspiracy and aiding and abetting false statements to various federal firearms dealers... was handed and 168 month sentence... during preparation of the appeal Mr parras kept me well informed on updates with the case. He argued that the evidence presented by the government was insufficient to establish the federal jurisdiction elements of the crime I was charged with and that the government evidence on its face is insufficient to establish the very important element... Mr parras explained to the judges at the 5th circuit court of appeals that the government hadn't met it's burden of proof... the government tried to argue that the forms they presented were sufficient to establish this element but a license number bearing no date of issuance of expiration without more could not have proved this element beyond a reasonable doubt no more than assuming that a driver of a vehicle posses a valid drivers license... agreeing with Mr parras the court of appeals reversed the convictions and remanded the case for dismissal... Mr parras put his best foot forward and was very professional at all times of this ongoing battle many thought was a lost cause... I want too thank Mr parras for allowing me too have my life back... I would highly recommend him to any one...

Having only recently finalized Mr. Parras for counsel and representation I will update this review upon conclusion of my case (or immediately in the event of the any extremely unexpected and/or unfortunate developments); however, I'm extremely optimistic given the attention to detail in regards to both the particulars of my case, as well as intrest in me as a person. It's obvious that Mr. Parras believes that an intimate understanding of the client bears directly upon the outcome of legfal proceeding. While I find Mr. Parras to be intelligent, articulate, and details oriented, I believe, these characteristics can be assumed for any attorney of average or better quality...even those of poorer quality. However, the more illustrious or successful the attorneys, the rarer to find those genuinely interested in clients as people, and motivated as if on a personal level, to pursuing a clients interest ass one would expect for a family member. Immediately upon hiring him, and more-so as time progresses, Mr. Parras has given just that impression: an older brother helping his younger brother navigate one of life's challenges.

Some years ago I retained this incredible attorney after I was arrested and was looking at a possible life time in prison. I won't go into too much detail in order to preserve my anonymity. I asked around for the "heaviest" attorney in Houston at this time, including other attorneys I had used in the past, and unanimously everyone said to call Mr. Dick DeGuerin. In short, only because of his fearsome courtroom prowess and renowned reputation for wins did the DA and Judge agree to a plea bargain we were all extremely pleased with. I will not use names, but BOTH the DA and Judge had reps for being extremely heavy handed with their sentencing.
To the man that is more than an attorney, who's a legend and also a bit of magician, a thousand thanks for giving me a life to return to! I regret that I only happened upon this site today and wasn't able to publicize my appreciation long ago...
